ITT: List flaws about your favorite game

Come on Sup Forums, don't let your fanboyism hold you back

>even for its time, the graphics were pretty dated
>voice actors basically stop trying about halfway through the game
>gunplay is not very good
>swimming is a joke skill outside of like 2 instances in the game
>one of the most unoptimized games ever made, even NASA computers in 2001 would have trouble running it
>tons of loading screens with Hong Kong being the worst offender (despite not being a very big hub), and even mods haven't been able to remedy this and make the game more seamless
>some weapons don't work as intended without mods (tranq shots to the head aren't instant, baton for some reason doesn't apply sneak attack bonus if you hit their head)
>enemies can't hear you firing your gun (and you can't hear theirs) once you're a certain distance from them, even though you're still well within hearing range of a gunshot
>Aquinas never said anything about a city on a hill, ever. That was John Winthrop, and he was referencing Matthew 5:14, Jesus's Sermon on the Mount.

>voice actors basically stop trying about halfway through the game
The ching-chong characters engrish is obviously a style choice.
All the characters that are supposed to talk English, are very well voiced.

>gunplay is not very good
Models, textures and sounds of some firearms - like the smg - are very bad indeed, but there is nothing wrong with the basic gunplay.

>one of the most unoptimized games ever made, even NASA computers in 2001 would have trouble running it
And trouble was with the renderer: just try the third-party renderers and they will make it perform very well on contemporary (of 2001) hardware.

>tons of loading screens with Hong Kong being the worst offender (despite not being a very big hub), and even mods haven't been able to remedy this and make the game more seamless
See Unreal and UT99 maps and see what is missing from those levels compared to DX levels.

>Water Temple
you know what game I'm talking about

>the game is never challenging at all - the only hard point is the last blockhead
>Issun points out everything about a new puzzle or area so you never really have to think about it

Started playing this for the first time today, played around 3 hours. I then died for the first time and had no saves.. I swear it said SAVING in the middle of the screen at one point?

It's really fuckin' bad.

>combat at it's core is very simple
>can loose quest items needed for progression
>character models look very stiff
>not a whole lot of player input on approaching a situation for a RPG
>pacing can be poor at times.

This thread has barely any replies because Sup Forums is overrun by shitposting fanboys who ruin all threads.

Flaws:
>Faction missions pretty much the same for either side
>Relentless and overpowered enemy patrol cars/boats
>Malaria
>Limited stealth options
>clunky buddy system

Mixed blessings:
>Enemies respawning at cleared outposts (Keeps interactions going instead of contemporary ubisoft vantage point, map checklist which ensures you'll never visit the same area again because fuckall going on in safe zones)
>No wildlife interactions (Better that than garbage mandatory crafting)

this board is overpopulated and moves too quickly for it's own good.
the only thing that will keep a thread alive long enough it to make flamewar and bait threads.
also mods have forsaken us.

I don't have a favorite but this would probably be in the top eight.
>Some of the stages are bland
>All of the interesting moves are locked until late game
>Azekel wasn't as cool as Vergil although the funnest fight in the game
>Bad final boss
>Whips
>Gene is kind of bland
>No sequel

>clunky gunplay
>can't talk through the last half of the game
>no sequel

A link to the past?

Actually easiest dungeon and not hard at all.

>Don't really need to use your darkness powers unless you're playing on the hardest difficulty
>Disappointing ending, although it's not a Hollywood ending so that's okay
>AI is pretty wonky

Anyone care to help me out? This is one of those games I find hard to criticize because I enjoyed it so much.

>very short
>only really need one power
>there are a fair few bugs
>upgrades are kind of pointless
>really easy even on the hardest difficulty

>Shitty netcode that makes game unplayable if you have over 90 ping
>Input lag when using Direct 3D
>Default CTF maps aren't that good

It's too easy, fucking Pokemon games are harder than this. It's literally impossible to make this game hard, no matter what you do you will become overpowered eventually. So really the fun is more in seeing just how much you can break the game.

>All the characters that are supposed to talk English, are very well voiced.
OH MY GOD JC, A BOMB!

>Default CTF maps aren't that good

Shut your whore mouth

>Connecting to people is sometimes awful
>Clearly unfinished
>Level design turns to complete shit half way through
>Some very uninspired/lazily/horribly designed boss encounters (Capra demon, first Seath room, Bed of Chaos)

>No ending countdown/escape sequence which makes the end game seem lackluster.

>You weren't around back then. Nobody played the default CTF maps on custom servers, custom maps is what saved the game mode and most private servers and pugs play only custom maps as well. They are far superior than anything made by Epic.

Fuck, didn't mean to quote, you get the point

Back then I had a shit proto-internet and was 10, must remove nostalgia goggles then

I'll do you two

Ghost Trick
>the game feels pretty short
>the puzzles are pretty easy
Killer7
>the story feels like a mess
>the gameplay isn't very good
>the puzzles are terrible and the characters you talk to straight up give you the answers
>Most of the Smiths aren't developed or even have any story purpose at all

>>even for its time, the graphics were pretty dated

No, they were actually pretty good. The lipsyncing thing was actually completely new and mind-blowing for the time.

>Story has pacing issues because of how the events are spread out over months
>Some social links are less interesting than others
>Tartarus can get pretty repetitive and a lot of enemies are just recolors

>No, they were actually pretty good. The lipsyncing thing was actually completely new and mind-blowing for the time.

Not really, FFX came out the same year and had that too.

>Aquinas never said anything about a city on a hill, ever. That was John Winthrop, and he was referencing Matthew 5:14, Jesus's Sermon on the Mount.
This has always bothered me too.

I don't get your problem with poor optimization though. I've never had any trouble running it on my toaster.

>now i realize i was just a 17 year old shitter when UT CTF custom maps and servers were on it's peak

Fuck..

Well when you think about it, it makes sense. Page completely misunderstands Aquinas's teachings on the divine, so it's not surprising that he also would just flat-out get shit wrong if it suited his needs.

Thought of another one for DX

The endings sucked, all of them. Hell IW is the only DE game that doesn't have shitty endings.

Luck mode solves it at the start but even than by the start of reverse castle you're going to stomp on everything. Let alone picking up Shield Rod/Alucard's Shield or Crissaegrim.

>Luck mode solves it at the start

AT THE START, it actually makes you far more broken in the long run. Luck Mode is easy mode.

>voice actors basically stop trying about halfway through the game

I disagree, unless you're talking about the Chinese/French accents specifically.

>gunplay is not very good

Yeah I sorta agree. It did make specialising in certain weapon types and investing mods in them more worthwhile though. You can fucking snipe with shotguns if you play your cards right.

>swimming is a joke skill outside of like 2 instances in the game

Recently found a secret room you can swim to in the Ocean Lab that has a GEP, the key to the fucking armory/storage room, and some delicious skill points. Still not a worthy investment, they really could've done more with it.

>tons of loading screens with Hong Kong being the worst offender (despite not being a very big hub), and even mods haven't been able to remedy this and make the game more seamless

Play the PS2 version. THAT has an assload of loading screens, fuck. The levels were massive and I didn't find the loading screens much of an issue.

Agree with everything else. Have some more

>AI is retarded. You can tranq a mook, who'll then go for the nearest alarm, but will just go through a cycle of raising their arm to it but flinching in pain until they're knocked out
>Clearly peaks in Hong Kong.
>The whole French Catacombs level
>Every fucking male character has the same pain/death screams
>If you haven't invested in combat skills and don't have Gunther's killphrase, you're fucked. They handled Anna much better by being able to sneak around and get her killphrase in the same area you fight her, as opposed to making a choice well in advance of fighting Gunther that you can't do anything about when you're gonna fight him.

>If you haven't invested in combat skills and don't have Gunther's killphrase, you're fucked. Not to mention finding Gunther's killphrase is something you'd never know about if you didn't bother exploring all the Paris buildings.

E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy is unique in that its bad dialogue and incoherent story are some of the best aspects of the game. Its flaws are also its strengths. So I guess I would just say the stats could be balance better.

Wtf? Hit him with the dragon tooth
