Currently making a video game

I want to put in some conspiracy theories that the player can possibly look into. Not sure if I want to make it meta or actually plot related. Researching some that are really interesting right now.

So, Sup Forums, what conspiracy theories would you like to see in a game? Which deserve the time of day and which are absolute garbage?

Is it a fictional world or "Earth"?
If they aren't plot relevant, they aren't worth bloating the game.

>bogdanoffs
>a conspiracy

You poor fool

It will probably be based in reality, aka Earth.
Haven't set a location for the game and probably won't give it a real one unless absolutely necessary.
The story is malleable right now, so They might influence the plot but the theories may not require the player to act on them.

I used it as an example. (((They))) say it's a conspiracy.

How deep are you wlling to go, OP?

As deep and as obscure as I can make it while it still being good. No point in going black pill if I can barely write a Nancy Drew novella.

Alex Jones has given us the best Conspiracy Theory plot ever. All you have to do is adapt it into a video game.

I watched it once a few days ago.
I may have to watch it again.
I'm just not that far down the rabbit hole yet. Who knows what the hell else that guy knows.
Good ideas though.

OP this looks interesting, I love conspiracy shit.

Did you use RPG Maker? How did you get the text to scroll upward like that?

>meme magic
>not casual
this is how Sup Forums actually views itself

You should watch the whole podcast this was edited from for full context.

The video has been edited down to make him sound crazy. But what actually happened, is that after a long discussion about many other conspiracies, they finally asked him to drop an info bomb on everyone. So he said that he was going to tell us, what the "elites" believe.

So all this stuff about transdimensional beings and blah blah, is the stuff he's been reading about from others. He's just relaying the information.

BTW, I don't know how realistic you want the conspiracies to be. But imo, the fun ones are the crazy ones.

It's from /x/ actually.

>no lalilelulo
shit there was some conspiracy in my mind I was gonna post, but I legit forgot it in seconds, weird.

I did use RPG Maker. It gets shit on a lot because of the people who use the standard assets.

>pic related
It's in the first tab of the event menu

The almost 4 hour one? I saw that one. If there is a longer one I'll watch that. I sort of remember what he was talking about the elites, but it was so much all at once that it was hard to follow. Also Eddie Bravo fucking killed the flow. Joe was keeping him straight and to explain his reasoning. I liked that bit.

The thing about conspiracies is that they need to be presented in a rational form, connected to real, known, established events or facts. They have to be convincing enough at the beginning to be able to lead in the the crazier, fun ones.

I'll look into those too.

-------------
I also want to have in my game a radio host who seems to talk about all these crazy things that are going on in the world. If the player is paying attention they slowly realize that the host is actually starting to talk about the MC's life and what is going to happen to him if he doesn't read and listen to the signs.

Play Deus Ex f you haven't yet

pol also has some fun bullshit like CERN experiments causing timeline shifts, causing the mandela effect
Also I heard a youtube channel called spirit science has bulshit like timetravelling jews form mars or something but I haven't checked it out yet

whoops forgot the pic

>The almost 4 hour one?
Yeah, that one. Since you saw it already, never mind.

just make up some stupid shit

With fads like undertale and steven universe

retards will make up their own conspiracies

I need to go watch some of the vintage AJ stuff. It sounds crazy but I believe you could find out info on what it's talking about.

I remember the whole CERN stuff. I kinda got into it. Spirit Science is... something.

I'll probably watch it again. Or at least listen to it.

That's probably a good idea. Even just putting multiple theories together, changing names, and manipulating the storyline, it could easily be done. Maybe I could put in a Mandela affect or something.

Don't make it meta on purpose, if things are obscure enough people will come up with that on their own

It would be cool to mix in religious stuff.

Symbols like crosses, water cleansing, shrines, etc can be used to create your own lore and erie atmosphere.

You don't even have to fully explain it if you're good at placing this stuff randomly.

>If they aren't plot relevant, they aren't worth bloating the game
It's added and unnecessary details and lore that make a game more interesting.

I can't remember what game it was, but i remember being able to read some random newspaper on the street and one of them talked about a man wearing "a black coat, black hat, and black glasses" misteriously wandering behind a building near a river.
More non relevant NPCs in the game made small references to him and told stories about him, and piecing everything together you could eventually find him, only to find out it's just an old blind man waiting for his guide dog to come back and if you checked the river you'd find the dead dog floating.
It was completely useless and totally unrelated to the plot of the game, but given how the necessary info to find him were scattered all around the game and it didnt halt progression, it was a nice addition and a fun thing to follow along the main plot.

At this point, anything is possible. I'm just creating the world that it is based in. I haven't written dialogue yet. Still need to research.

Religion could be a good point. It could tie a lot of things together, even it it isn't explicitly mentioned, like you said. Sometimes the shadow of the monster is scarier than seeing it.

Wow that is crazy. Stuff like that is so interesting to me. It's a nice twist of putting the imagination to work and filling in the blanks. But the reveal is slightly underwhelming that it makes you feel for having jumped to conclusions. Also the dog part hits hard.

Oh shit, I remember this thread.
Do you still have a link from the archives? I need a good laugh.

How did I not notice that? Thanks.

You should just make your own conspiracy theories and use real life examples as a case study. Basic rule is abusing the fact that people tend to view every logical explanation as truth. Create your own font and put random quotes in weird places along with symbols, the players will give it way more depth then there actually is.

I will definitely look into that. Plus you can make them as strange as you want!
