Artificial Scarcity

Anyone else hope the Switch flops just because Nintendo keeps pulling this bullshit?

Kys faggot

yes

Lol you forgot to preorder, sucks to be you

No because I'm buying one

Not unless you pre-ordered one, or buy one from a scalper.

Switch is going to flop
What I hope has really nothing to do with it

>Wii U sells like shit
>WOW Why don't they just put 100 million consoles on the store shelves! Fuck Nintendo!

Yes.

They've already said they're producing more to meet demand

As opposed to what?

The very last thing I want Nintendo to do is make another generic shitbox like the other consoles

If they did then it wouldn't be sold out.

>Nintendo Switch is a failure
"It was just a project here is the 3ds 2

I pre-ordered one and plan to buy it just to piss fucking faggots like you off. I actually don't even plan on playing it.

how long does it take to manufacture a batch of consoles? even so, the least they could do is be prepared in case of actual scarcity

Yes. Because if switch flops, Nintendo will be bought by Sony

This.

While the comparison isn't 1:1, I've seen how long it takes to manufacture a small circular piece of fabric. So I'm going to make the assumption that it takes a few months or more.

The sony ponies that are so desperate to play nintendo games are my favorite sony shills.

Switch production is slow because Nintendo has pushed Amiibo production on overdrive.

You sure showed him.

Nintendo could ship 4 million consoles if they really wanted to.

But then you'd have a ton of Switches on the store shelves; tons of news headlines proclaiming the death of Nintendo, etc.

If they just limit the supply, then you'll just have headlines about the Switch being sold out everywhere, casuals will get intrigued, then buy the new batch of Switches.

Have you thought they maybe actually only produced so much but are forced to release it way before they planned to appease stock holders?

Sony Nigger

>amiibo production
fuck that. I actually like the idea of amiibos unlocking cool shit in games but no one does fuck all with the damn things just like the wii u gamepad. There better be some good shit for those new amiibos.

Nitendo doesn't do artifical scaricity. It just hurt business in the end and only profit scalpers.

What Nintendo did on the other hand is underestimate the popularity of some of their items.

Seeing the failure of the Wii U (who they definitely provided, expecting the same success as the Wii), I can't entirely blame them.

Nigga, Apple produces 100m iPhones every damn year.

Well, like you said, they'll be sitting on shelves. It's certainly a lot worse to do than than it is to set up guaranteed pre orders and then meet demand if there is more demand.

For every Switch you buy, I'm going to buy 5 PS4s

Aren't arm processors scarce because every phone manofacturer needs them?
I recall reading that Samsung was buying all supply of a particular model for their upcoming Galaxy 8, so every other OEM was left with older processors.
Still I hope the switch fails and nintendo burns to the ground with miyamoto committing sudoku live on twitch

Why would you want so many paperweights?

>Nitendo doesn't do artifical scaricity.
engadget.com/2007/03/27/wii-shortage-is-intentional-according-to-gamestop/

Prove it.

>Preorders
>ever
Are you really so stupid that you would buy something before it even comes out?

>Wii followed the horribly selling gamecube

Hmm.

>Nioh sold out
>"We did it!"

>Nintendo Switch sold out
>"Artificial shortage!"

>some investor's opinion

I didn't know Fake News existed back then.

>this just my opinion, but I think [Nintendo] intentionally dried up supply because they made their numbers for the year.

Read your own article. On top of that, the sales figures showed Nintendo wasn't bullshitting.

My favorite Sonygger here

>Flop

Nah, nintenyearolds would buy Horse manure from their God, Myamoto, if it were shaped like Link.

They don't even have to make games to be a successful company.

Nintendo games would outsell Sony developed games kek

>that Sonygger thread earlier where someone said the Wii U was a paperweight because 1 bad game

Jesus what does that make the PS4 then?

>"people will buy up X like the drones they are"

Yeah, because the Wii U sold so well, right?

It's always hilarious reading posts like these that lack such self awareness. You console kiddies are nothing more than different sides of the same coin.

>Fake News
Really? Take the conspiracy theories to Sup Forums, friend. There's no reason to believe the Wii shortage wasn't real.

>Jesus what does that make the PS4 then?
The Paperweight Station 4, of course.

Who is saying it wasn't real? That's not related to Nintendo intentionally not giving retailers Wii's to buy.

>Nioh sold out

>What are digital copies?

>Sony forces you to buy their digital crap
THANK YOU, SONY! LET ME SUCK YOUR COCK MORE!

I don't even own a ps4 m8.

>Steam forces you to buy their digital crap
THANK YOU, GABE! LET ME SUCK YOUR COCK MORE!

Well it was a commercial success

People stayed loyal to Nintendo despite it being 20 years old hardware with like what? 5 games?

>20 years old hardware

You need to be 18+ to post on this website.

>Sony buys Nintendo
Mario games and Call of duty dominates the top selling ps5 games list

Every ps4 is sold at a loss, meanwhile the switch isn't

>Sony
>buying anything
Just how removed from reality are you? Those poor bastards can barely keep their fucking company afloat, for crying out loud. If it weren't for both Microsoft and Nintendo shooting themselves in their respective feet this gen they would be the ones abandoning hardware. And everything else, for that matter.

The only reason it sold at all though is because the first-party games on it were amazing. You saying that people will buy their stuff even if it's shit is stupid

Because they don't want the WiiU to happen again. There's a lot of WiiU stocks everywhere. Even if you are willing to buy a Switch, you either have to buy from scalpers or wait for a month. Artificial scarcity is just a way for Nintendo to minimize losses while fucking their retarded fanbase that are buying a switch.

>I actually don't even plan on playing it.

Sure you don't.

Hopefully Sony Pictures will finally fuck off.

We're in a depression, dickhead.

>Zelda WiiU version has more preorders than the switch version
>j..just wait everyone will buy a switch because of zelda

Nintendo would be stupid to produce a gazillion consoles after the wiiu disaster. They can sell the news to the shareholders that they might missed a bit of profit because they calculated not high enough but telling them that they sit on a bunch of shit that noone wants? Again? That would be doom.

so they would rather have scalpers make a profit instead of having more stock and getting that money themselves.

~~Japan~~

>Every ps4 is sold at a loss, meanwhile the switch isn't

>source: my ass

That's kind of the case isn't it? Nintendo lags behind everything on the market in technology yet sells it for the same price.

That's how they cut costs, cause they know typical diehard nintendo fanboys will buy it anyway. They can even have stupid gimmicky, expensive shit, cause the only reason it sells is because it has the fucking Nintendo logo.

They shipping 2 million consoles for day 1.
That's PS4 numbers. It's not their fault the Switch is so popular.

The Playstation division is used to cover Sony's losses with their Movie division and TV/electronic division, you fucking retard.

Sony makes about $18 for every PS4 sold.

I won't even have a game to play because I don't plan on buying any. Maybe I'll take it out of the box and turn it on, but most likely will sell on ebay for $500 after launch day.

But do you have an actual source? We're talking actual sales figures here so I'd expect, like numbers. Math. That kind of shit.

Otherwise you're just making an assumption. A safe one for sure, but you have to back these things up.

Now. Not during its first year or two. On the other hand Nintendo has confirmed they're not selling the Switch at a loss at all.

Just Google ps4 sold at loss, and switch sold at profit.

Their insurance division is actualy the most profitable one and the one keeping the rest afloat, Playstation division is still helping but not a much as Sony Life.

Wtf stop it. Nintendo is supposed to fail so they go third party.

It was sold at a loss on launch, now every ps4 is sold with profit.
You're right about the switch part

Trust me, when these fucking retards and the rest of them read the headlines that the Switch has sold 2 million day 1 they are going to go on an autisic rage.

>pre-orders have existed since forever
>preorders can be done for almost anything besides vidya

While the rest of the world is fine with preodering anything they want, you get to sit there and cry abuot your own stupidity.

But please, make more excuses with le preorder is bad meme. Not like you can do anything else.

After the semi-failure of the Gamecube even Nintendo was surprised by the success of the Wii.

Better start asking mommy for your allowance in advance.

I'd rather buy a portable home console with Nintendo's first party lineup than a gimped pc.

>Sony pictures cancelled Popeye for this piece of shit

>idiots scared of digital downloads still

sad.

the problem with a new nintendo console is will it have the games?

cause the 3DS and Wii U sure didn't. two platforms back to back with minimal internal and third party support.

coming off the back of two consoles that had little in terms of quality software is pretty fuckin' spooky. Got a 3DS 4 years ago and have played a grand total of 9 games on it, 4 of which were ports of older games i'd played before. I consider it a regrettable purchase and feel burned for ever expecting there to be a stream of quality games released for it.

I'm not buying one until it has like 5 good games on it, with Zelda and Mario running the first two but nothing else interesting from the announcement lineup through 2017.

Like, really - how long are we talking here until it starts getting it's own great exclusives and quality titles? Has Nintendo figured a way to expedite modern game development or is it gonna be 5 years for every Zelda, Metroid, and Fzero with few other titles trickling down between the gaps aside from Mario Party +1, Mario Kart +1, Mario Golf +1, and so on?

I was planning on buying a Wii U when it got it's own Zelda game released, and had this plan when it was first shown off at E3 2011. Conveniently, I never ended up buying a Wii U.
But now that they've pulled another Twilight Princess with dual-releasing the Wii U's only original Zelda game on the successor console meaning the Wii U is dead for future support, and since Zelda may very well be the Switch's only good game if game quality and quantity of the 3DS and Wii U are any indicator, I just don't know how I can even move ahead with getting a switch asap if even just for the Zelda that the Wii U was suppose to get that was the only reason I was planning to buy a Wii U in the first place, at the very end of its life?

I feel like i'm ranting but holy fuck did Nintendo just fuck this all up or what? I'm sure there were PLENTY of people waiting for zelda before getting a WiiU and nintendo fucked themselves.

>I'd rather buy a portable home console with Nintendo's first party lineup than a gimped pc.
With gimped multiplats.

>Cancelled Popeye

For a second I was mad, but then I realized that modern Sony would basically turn Popeye into that.

I'll be playing my old games in 30 years while you'll have to depend on a company with a service that may or may not even exist at that point in time. And then you'll know true sadness.

Sony couldn't even be able to afford to buy the Metroid franchise even if they wanted.
Sony as a company barely has enough money for anything anymore.

well wiiu now is cheap and has some fun games that you can also get very cheap. Just get zelda for the wiiu. There is hardly any difference anyway as it was a wiiu title from the start.

One day somebody will invent the replicator and all the Jews will be out of a job.

>WE RAN OUT OF STEAM KEYS

Fuck this society.

Didn't you read his post? he thinks WiiU and 3DS have no games, just leave it at that.

Hasn't this been the case with literally every console release ever?

It's not OK when Nintendo does it.

>People holding off on getting a Wii U until it got a new Zelda game
>Nintendo releases the Zelda game after ceasing production of Wii U consoles and Wii U game development
>Nintendo keeps the 3DS around though, despite the Switch being a clearly better competitor
>Despite 3DS game development having slowed to an absolute standstill with few games coming in the future and no reason to announce more
Nintendo literally threw away a lot of potential Wii U sales for no real reason.

I don't understand what they're doing. With Iwata I could tell where the problems were coming from - he was too lighthearted and friendly and forgiving so Nintendo games became lazily developed and bottom-of-the-barrel-tier indy garbage were given a greenlight to be on eShop.

But Kimishima? I just don't fuckin' know. My best guess is that he also doesn't know, but even then I still don't actually know that.

Nintendo is very confusing and confused right now.

thank for money! man lover

No.

You could literally buy any PS/Xbox console at any point in time. If there was a shortage, it was only for a small period of time.

the number of good games that also aren't ports for the 3DS can be counted on two healthy hands worth of fingers, man.

Same goes for the Wii U.

The Wii U didn't fail at selling a gorillion units just cause it didn't have a new Zelda, but also cause the general software lineup was weak.

IT IS you fucking dunderhead. Why the hell would you pay for a product on brand loyalty and advertising alone? Why not just wait until the product is in the consumers hands to see what they think?

The only reason preordering vidya was a thing was because back in the day downloading games wasn't really a thing. Which I guess you'd know if you weren't underage b&

>"Hey balacksmith I need a suit of armor done here is the gold"
>"Good it will take some time to finish though so please wait."

Damn blacksmiths are cancer requiring payment up front so they can live and buy materials to build me what I want.

What does nintendo have to gain from artificial scarity?

Yes, demand drives up prices, but the only people profiting from that increased price are scalpers, not nintendo themselves.

>all this misinformation about the 3DS
>new 3DS games are still getting announced
>system is selling just as much now as it has been
>thinking the Switch is a replacement for it still

According to Sup Forums, it drives up demand, makes people see that it's out of stock and they want one. Great logic isn't it?
