Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Let's discuss this game.

Not coming out in 2017

Exited

>We want the Tales audience

They shot looks epic. Love the style. Love the armour. Love the flames in the background. Truly a Monolith Soft style.

game looks great, but there really isn't a lot to talk about

they better release more information

I love the new art direction. Like, sure, it's anime, but it looks like quality anime, so it's fine.

It's Tales done at a higher standard.

But again it doesn't even look all that much like Tales. The characters in XB2 all have cool sci-fi armour, whereas the cast of Tales look like fancy dress/Halloween costume rejects.

There's the whole thing about whether the girls with the green thing on their chest turn into weapons or not. If they do, the blond one better turn into a spear.

I definitely wouldn't be surprised if they delayed this to 2018, but I also wouldn't be shocked if it actually does come out this year.

The footage we've seen at the Switch presentation seemed pretty polished and well into the game's development. Unlike XCX, which had a bunch of early prototype animations, placeholder UI elements, and didn't even have a name at the time of its reveal.

They've been working on this for the past 2 years, so they should be able to release it on time.

I'm glad there's animals to ride. I hope we get some flying ones later on too.

Game looks awesome.

better than
>we want the potato audience

If we do I hope it's actually fun to fly and not some WoW-tier "lol have fun we just gave you an extra axis to move on" bullshit

Would have preferred a sequel to X since XC was self contained.

I don't know about Wow, but flying in X was pretty fun. Especially once you discovered the free falling function.

Hopefully the enemy and mech designs are better than the character designs

X doesn't have anywhere to go with its story besides just rehashing Mira again, and no one wants that.

>THIS PLANET THOUGH
Are you kidding me? Also, we only explored a part of Mira, not even the whole planet.

Better to just let that game die with the Wii U, user.

It looks alright based on the footage we have so far, but without seeing footage of the battle system in action or more concrete story details there isn't much to really go on. Really hope we get something before E3 though that seems unlikely.

>Samaar Federation
>The other arks
>Lao
>Elma and her people
There's a few things they could go on and X seemed like the first part of some wacky sci-fi epic. I'll honestly be disappointing if there isn't an X-2 in the future but at this point I'll take whatever the fuck I'm given. I am 100% confident Monolith will create another fantastic game.

Next time. Monolith doesn't seem to like doing the same thing twice in a row (which is also part of the reason why Xenosaga got buttfucked across installments).

>Also, we only explored a part of Mira, not even the whole planet.
Unless they just somehow pick up NLA and move it, they're stuck on that part of Mira. So if we controlled the same cast of characters again, it wouldn't make any sense for them to be hanging out on other parts of Mira, but never set foot on Primorida etc.
Now of course if it focused on a different ark that left earth then they wouldn't have that issue. But I think most people wouldn't like that because they'd like XCX's characters to be fleshed out more.

Say something nice about Rex.

We only explored that set of continents. That doesn't mean that's the whole planet. Notice how if you reach the edge of the map you just hit an invisible wall. You don't go around the world. You're only exploring a chunk of it.

Not an issue, either have a new cast from another ark ship or keep the same one and just say that a new part of the planet became accessible and they created a new settlement there to explore the area, no need to reuse NLA or the previous continents.

Yeah dude I get it. My point is, from a story-standpoint, they'd have to put the old continents back in for the world to stay consistent and to make any sort of sense. They can't just pick up and move the NLA habitat unit, its stuck there. And they can't just teleport to other parts of Mira.

I hated his armor at first, but if speculation is correct that he is wearing a scuba suit because he is a "diver" who goes from the clouds to explore the planets surface (like skyward sword), then its pretty neato.

You're probably looking too into things. The green barrier is just the way they designed the open world.

The next game will just be Xenoblade 3 because every Xenoblade game has been standalone and I don't see that pattern being broken.

He looks pretty hot blooded, which makes him better than your average JRPG protagonist already.

They don't have the resources to set up another city on Mira.

You may just start in another habitat that landed in another set of continents and eventually get to meet Elma and co.

Is there any indication this won't be another Xenoblade Chronicles X?

I'm gonna hate him if he's given an American accent though. I don't want him to sound like Sonic.

We have no idea if Neo Tokyo and Neo France are on Mira though

Still coming out.

>say they found a vein of particularly valuable ore
>they traded it for resources with other races and the Ma'non helped them set up a new town
There, done. So much shit happened offscreen between Xenosaga II and III that this would be nothing by comparison.

yes it is?

>The green barrier is just the way they designed the open world
Sure, but that leaves things pretty open so they can just add more world if they want to go back to it.

>every Xenoblade game has been standalone
There's that theory about Xenoblade 1 taking place eons before X.

Considering everybody and their mom from all over the galaxy was on Mira in the first game, that doesn't sound that farfetched.

>There's that theory about Xenoblade 1 taking place eons before X.
and its wrong

>the legendary blade
>Tatsu calling humans homs

>what are references

He has a literal sword waifu.

>What are references and small nods
Hey the Buster Sword is in Final Fantasy IX! WOHO THEY MUST BE CONNECTED.

>There's that theory about Xenoblade 1 taking place eons before X.
Just a theory, user. And even that was true, it wouldn't change the fact that Xenoblade has a standalone story, so then what would be the point in them being connected?

All the Xenoblade games are standalone. Takahashi has made it pretty clear they are, and he's not one to mince his words.

They could be just that, or they could be clues. It all comes down to what happens in 2.

Not a good example considering Cloud already appeared in FF Tactics. Space time multiverse shenanigans are a thing.

The Zelda games are standalone for the most part, and they still have a vague timeline. No reason why this can't be the same.

I'm glad you made this thread. This game seems to be going underlooked, which is stupid because XBC was amazing.

What do you mean with "underlocked"?

>still have a vague timeline
>official timeline that is recognized by Nintendo exists

>The Zelda games are standalone for the most part
Seven Zelda games out of eighteen currently out are direct sequels of others.

Probably meant overlooked. Doubt it'll happen though since Xenoblade and even Xenoblade X were relatively well recieved games. Doubt it'll get FFXV levels of JRPG coverage but it certainly will be talked about.

It's vague cause usually hundreds or even thousands of years take place inbetween each game.

Sure, and that means that most of the games are not.

>The Zelda games are standalone for the most part, and they still have a vague timeline. No reason why this can't be the same

OK, so let's pretend they are connected. Okay, ahem...

Here we go...

Woah, they are connected. That's pretty cool. I look forward to playing the next game which has a standalone story, and a different setting and a cast of new characters.

See? It adds nothing substantial to any of the games. They exist to be enjoyed as standalone games.

I don't know, it's still cool to have some ancient lore going on. It doesn't detract anything from the games or anything. It's just a cool added feature.

Yeah, overlooked*
I'm tired.

I'd be more interested if the trailer had just started from the 1 minute mark. The ultra cliche "I love this world because you're in it!" and "I won't live in fear anymore." doesn't give me much hope for the writing.

>he thinks the first Xenoblade had good writing

I wouldn't know, never played it

Wouldn't it make more sense to compare the character designs to Soma Bringer (another Monolith title) instead of Tales?

The writing isn't exactly Shakespeare, but it's of a much higher standard than games like Tales and Final Fantasy.

What's wrong with those lines exactly?

Fyi, when she says "you" she's speaking to more than one person.

>Is there any indication this won't be another good game?
Why would anyone want that?

They did an amazing job at destroying what little originality in design they had.

It just seems very typical of your usual jrpg/anime dialogue that I've heard a thousand times before. Not looking for reinvention of the wheel but I always see people praising the story in Xeno games like they were at a higher standard than others. I guess I'll still give it a shot either way

>Quality anime

>I always see people praising the story in Xeno games like they were at a higher standard than others
The stories are like a freshman philosophy class for neckbeards.

Rather that than the shit written in modern final fantasy and Tales Of. I watched the ending of Tales Of Berseria and the writing and voice acting was so fucking hilarious. It was the most awful dialogue and voice acting I've heard in JRPG for a long while.
