Factorio

>friend recommends pic related to me so I give it a try
>it's literally the most autistic game I've ever played in my life

How is this even possible? I mean, I played Dwarf Fortress, and this somehow manages to be more autistic.

Who the hell is this game meant for?

Autistic people

Autists?

You know who it's for, why bother asking?

Programmers

>Who the hell is this game meant for?
people with a capacity for problem-solving

What do you mean? It's a great game about automization, problem solving, optimization and base building.

>recommend factorio to an autistic friend
>he literaly sperges out and posts on Sup Forums

he knows you better than you do. who is the real autist here?

In all honestly, I played it thinking it would be a slam dunk for me. I'm the person who will sit in Garry's Mod for hours to make mechanical contraptions just for the joy I'm saying I made them.

This game's problem is that it's too slow and, ironically, it lacks automation in the UI.

Let me give an example: In Supcom, you can place buildings in a row by holding shift and dragging. Your engineers know which order to make them in, and they know the formation that it takes to do it.
You have to place every fucking thing by hand, and it sucks. I want to make a slight change to production? Gotta walk my ass all the way over to where it's happening and tinker with the machines myself. If I have a production belt that's starting to fill up? I can't just build a camera or something that would let me observe that part of my base, but instead I have to hike it over there to manually ensure that my production is running smoothly. I have one of the thousands of machines quit running for any number of reasons? I don't find out until I run out of materials and am placed hours behind on schedule.

If the game was a little more like an RTS and a little less like an autism simulator; I think it would be a fine game. As it is right now; it's kinda awful.

It's quite fun to play it with people who barely know how to play it also. I played with a few autismos and I didn't like it at all.

>friends recommends you great game
>proceed to shitpost in Sup Forums
You are stupid.
>meant for
For people who enjoy having to think, I know that isn't your strength.

>You have to place every fucking thing by hand,
Blueprints, son.

>>friend recommends pic related to me
>it's literally the most autistic game I've ever played in my life
user I think your friend is hinting at something.

You can use blueprints plus drones for most of the things you mentioned and smart inverters for the rest.

>What do you mean?

My main problem is that you can ask a single question at the very beginning that makes everything fall apart:

>Why?

I start the game by landing on an alien planet. I'm given a pickaxe and told I can get resources. Then immediately afterwards the game goes "oh shit, I should build a factory!"

Why the fuck? What kind of mentally ill person thinks like that? I'm not going to build a factory out of nowhere for no reason. I need an incentive, like giving those resources an extrinsic value so I would want to mine more of them. Every management-based resource game does that. But Factorio, as far as I can tell, tells me "here are resources you can build factories. Your reward is being able to build bigger factories for more resources. the end"

That's one of the most retarded things I've ever seen.

>So you're saying someone actually enjoys logic and engineering? That makes me sick! They should be euthanized so people who enjoy social skills can take their place because we all know it's more important to talk a lot and make a silly face than it is to build and create something!

>I can't just build a camera or something that would let me observe that part of my base, but instead I have to hike it over there to manually ensure that my production is running smoothly.

This is my major problem with the game.

>Why?

To build a fucking rocket? You do realise there is actually an end-game goal right?

Fagtorio is a shit game. It looks like shit, the inventory is shit, and the end game is nothing but a grindfest for blue research.

And the mods all seem to be shit that makes it worse.

There's a small window of time where the game is fun, but it goes away when you look at how much research you need to get the later things.

That was a game I hated as the rocket launched and I'll never touch it again.

The whole point of the game is to maximise the efficiency of your factory so you aren't waiting hours for shit to happen. If you're constantly optimising then there isn't really any downtime.

>And the mods all seem to be shit

I agree with you there though.

>inventory is shit

This, right here, is why I can't stand it.

I can't just look at my economy as a measure of resources going in vs resources going out. I absolutely HAVE to know the ins and outs of every piece of coal, iron ore, copper ore, stone, etc.

Not to mention that if something fucks up like an assembly line loses a link, or a mechanical arm gets stuck, or a chest fills up, or a factory just magically stops assembling things (happened quite a few times); I now have hundreds or maybe thousands of these things laying around that I either have to make a sub-factory to deal with because the inventory is such shit that I can't just drop it into a chest or into a factory to process, but I now have to build an entirely different assembly line just to clean up the fuckup from this other assembly line.

Why the fuck are stacks in this game so small? Why can't I build something or assemble some kind of stacker or something that let me compress stacks of things that I may have a thousand of into easily used bundles that I can take around? Minecraft's Tekkit let me do that, and Minecraft is by far a more rudimentary game than Factorio. Tekkit also let me put chests next to machines and the machines would just automatically assume the chest was extra storage space instead of me having to build another arm for it which may fuck up or quit working for any number of reasons.

It feels like Factorio didn't make things more complex or intricate, it just made things more tedious.

Factorio is great for perfectionists who like to optimize every little thing. If you don't have that trait you won't like it.

I see you as the type of user who doesent care about time and progression and just wants to skip everything to get the the "BANG BANG KILL SHOOT" part of games
