What went wrong?

What went wrong?

The only thing that annoyed me was that one of the skills is found inside the manor quest and you cant get it afterwards if you miss it.

Terrible plot with garbage white girl love interest, bad pacing, and unwarranted tension all around. The martial arts and shitty leveling system are the only thing it's got over GTA.

Shitty driving mechanics only "mitigated" by ramming.

You're forced to pick up the statue, it's even one of the quest's objectives.

DONT FUCK WITH THE SUN ON YEEEEEE MOFUCKER

I didn't have a pork bun in my hand.

>Garbage white girl love interest
This guy didn't play more than an hour of the game.

publisher pushed them to make an online spinoff instead of a sequel and then shut the studio down when it inevitably failed.

I'll have you know I played 2 hours and promptly lost interest.

How do you know that the plot was bad if you only played 2 hours of the game?

People like (You) are my least favorite thing about Sup Forums

Absolutely nothing. Too bad it never got a sequel.

A MAN WHO NEVER EAT PORK BUN IS NEVER A WHOLE MAN

I wasn't aware this is a spiritual successor to True Crimes, yet the driving mechanics felt familiar so I instantly hated any mission with driving. everything else was basically if Yakuza's world was not segmented.

I wish I could live your life...just for one day.

m8 there's no way that plot was getting good
the characters were all fucking idiots and none of the events seemed believable
i've played through enough shitty plots to recognize the telltale sign of bad writing

Fuck off. You're shitting up the thread.

The terrible fucking romance shit that you had to do to see collectibles on your map

The story isn't anything amazing but it does set up some great missions like the wedding mission where the game decides it wants to be Max Payne for a little bit

They forgot to finish making it.

No sequel

>> goes into enemy hideout
>> kills enemies
>> sets up cameras to catch them doing illegal stuff
What?!

I love this non-USA setting GTA, it's refreshing

What other settings would you guys want to see?

>ICE CREAM ONLY FOR GOOD LOOKING MAN

It's an homage to 80s grindhouse kung fu cinema you fucking normalcuck

Mogadishu.

>watch hardboiled last night
>cant stop thinking IM SUN ON YEE MOTHERFUCKER

>Tossing people into the dumpsters

more will come!
also, the enter the dragon extra dlc was neat

Check out A Better Tomorrow if you haven't, it's a legit classic and a lot like Sleeping Dogs

This.

It's the classic John Woo/Chow Yun-Fat combo, like with Hard Boiled. You can't go wrong with this.

that's true. had a lot of great stuff though.

Sweet. Thanks.

Driving was more enjoyable in LA.

THIS IS MOTHAFUCKIN HONG KONG

I quite liked this game, I binged on chinese buffets all week afterwards

Good game, bad publisher. A sequel could be pretty great, but SE is retarded.

Not much. A pretty solid and underrated game. However, the driving controls could've been slightly better and I wish they had made Hong Kong bigger as well.

>tfw driving through Hong Kong during a rainy night listening to H-club or Softly

God damn you just made me full comfy. Sleeping Dogs has the best ambient rain, and it's like always fucking raining too.

>rain covered streets
>neon lights reflecting off the roads
>why dont you have a pork bun in your hands
>walk into convenience store (doo-doon) to get an energy drink

What a great game.

I'm a loot whore so I never bought food, which is kind of silly since you can just run over one parking meter and your pork bun is paid for twice over

but the few times I did try to buy food my game would freeze and I would need to reload my last save

>tfw I never got to try his curry fish balls

> MC acting like a little suck up, seemed a bit *too* suspicious
> Story was kinda too fast
> Combat wasn't the tightest
> Love interests were a throwaway and didn't add much
> On that note seemed like a lot of content was cut

Overall though a fun game and I finished it twice over the years and I'm running through the Definitive Edition now.

I rarely would buy food in games but the damage buffs and such that you got felt worth it to me, so it was one of the few games that I did. All those little things just made the game feel so much more immersive.

>buy new clothes
> TAKES GUTS TO WEAR THAT

Agreed about the love interest. I think there were some interviews that said they originally planned for a much bigger dating system, and even had a ton of dialogue recorded for each girl, but scrapped it and ended up just having one mission or so for each one along the way in the main game.

I thought it was weird they got emma stone and even gave her billing in the opening credits only for her to have a 30 minute side quest

>Throwing people onto Swordfish heads

I don't know why that one cop was so pissed Wei shot some dudes in that drug lab, he's been murdering fools by hand for awhile

>TAKES GUTS TO WEAR THAT
I always had to kill someone walking out of a clothing store

absolutely not, they were bad even for it's time. at least GTA had the benefit of basically being an arcade game.

-5 CLUMSY

oh god damn you brought back some bad memories
