Most of them are probably renames and romhacks with barely any changes. I used to own a NES pirate cart with a huge expansion slot-in that was more than twice the size of a regular NES cart. 500-games-in-1, it said on the label. Stick the cart in, boot up the console, get a menu with 2 choices: 1-100 and 101-500. 101-500 were all the romhacks ranging from minor changes like a few extra lives at start, to cool stuff like debug modes enabled, to motherfucking hyperspeed in shooters.
Still, 100 regular games in that single cart were enough to last me through most of my childhood. Good times were had.
