Nier, The Witcher, Street Fighter, Danganronpa, and maybe gravity rush are the only exceptions.

Nier is made by platinum so it gets a free pass on the fact that it will be about gameplay, and gravity rush actually is a unique game with a female lead.

Oh come on, Shadowverse is actually good. If you've played Hearthstone for 3 years or something, you get so fucking pissed at that game for all the cancerous aggro and RNG-shit and Shadowverse is the perfect cure for that. The meta is even more revolved about control even.

Catherine is a game that actually feels like its target audience is adults. Not the sexual fanservice in particular, but Vincent's problems as a person. He's clearly stuck in this pre-middle-age ennui, and has no sense of purpose in his life. His interactions with his friends feels real, not like a wacky version of real-life interpreted for teenagers.

Also, I really enjoy the puzzle sequences, which on higher difficulties can be fucking brutal. I'd love for Atlus to make another game exploring adulthood, or really any games developer. Atlus just give it a hell of a polish.

It's the same reason why I think Valhalla isn't total fanservice trash. It explores some interesting themes, where the disaster at the bank job is preparing the player to think about survivor's guilt, which hits later with the death of the ex-girlfriend, and explored in greater detail.
