Should I buy a PS4?
I want to play Nioh and BB and that's about it.

the pro has boost mode, which is the only way to ensure you will get 30 fps
No. I own a PS4. If you're only going to purchase two games, you're paying for a 3-400$ brick.
>buy second hand ps4
>buy second hand bb goty
>buy second hand nioh
>play the shit out of them
>sell the shit for the same price you bought it
>profit?
>I want to play Nioh and BB
>Should I buy a PS4?
You should at least be interested in 5 games.
>Is the Pro a meme?
Yes it is. The so called "boost" isn't worth 150 bucks more. You can buy a slim+BB and Nioh at the same price.
No.
Yes.
Yeah man PS4s are dirt cheap nowadays. You don't need Pro.
Also get Yakuza Zero and Gravity Rush 2.
>don't need pro
Getting an old PS4 at this point means being fine with sub 30fps in any new game
>Memeborne with frame drops into the single digits vs Stable 30FPS
>720p 30FPS vs 1080p 60FPS
the Pro is a meme the same way upgrading your GPU and CPU in your PC is a meme
Except a PC actually has more than 3 games
there's no fucking reason to buy an old PS4 at this point, let alone a Slim
people who fell for the Slim meme back in November are pathetically attempting damage control now
I'm not disagreeing. I own an old PS4 which I bought for Bloodborne. But I'm disappointed in it since as it hasn't really gotten much in terms of games. Gravity Rush 2, Nioh, maybe Yakuza 0. Crash Remaster trilogy in the future.
Not really much else. I mostly use it for netflix now.
get a ps4 slim 1tb
yes the pro is a meme
Yes, buy a PS4.
Yes the pro is a meme unless you actually own a 4K TV and want to utilise it.
Don't worry about internal HDD size, Sony is updating the firmware in a couple months to include external HDD support.
PS4 has unironically no good exclusives besides Bloodborne. But then again, Bloodborne isn't for everyone. Many people don't like that genre.
The only reason I'd buy a PS4 is to play the next Vanillaware game. Probably not though since it's also out on the Vita and I already have a PSTV.
If you don;t care about 4K, get a 500GB slim and a 2TB external HDD
>pro is a meme!
>pro is a meme!
t. old PS4 and slim owners
The price and performance difference between a 500GB slim and a 1TB pro isn't justified. In Australia, the difference is almost 200 dollars.
At the moment, you're right. But in the future there'll be more Pro support
>defending a companies choice to purposefully gimp their console.
no, it's t. people who bought a Slim last Black Friday because they assumed the half-assed Pro patches was indicative of how every game would run on it, and now they're mad that 4.5 is making literally every single game run better on it.
any youtubers benchmark pro boost with bloodborne yet?
How the fuck you degenerates manage to live with a console with poor AMD hardware that struggles to run even on fucking 30 fps in 2017 with all those 120-144mhz monitors coming out and 60 fps being standard for comfy playing for decades?
Witcher 3 on low PC settings is looking better than PS4 version.
A bit more memory won't magically double your fps.
The whole thing really looks like a scam. Especially since games will be downgraded to make the Pro appear useful (ex: remove AA for the non-Pro version, even though it can easily handle it, etc...)
It doesn't do jack shit for Bloodborne though, even in Boost mode.
There was never AA on non-pro.
PS4 is that bad.
>pro is not a meme!
>pro is not a meme!
t. Pro owners
All 3 of them
The target audience for the consoles is retards and children, with people buying them for the exclusives a small minority. Just look at how they're marketed for example
>ONLY $250!!!! (with a $60 yearly fee which almost everyone pays, making it about $550)
>ps4 pro = 4k ready
>slim is not a meme!
>slim is not a meme!
t. Slim owners
All 3 of them
>There was never AA on non-pro.
AA isn't a console feature. It's something devs decide or not to enable/implement.
bloodborne still suffers from shitty frame pacing and the 30 fps isn't as stable as you might think it is
literally only nioh benefits from that shit
I agree with you but also do not at the same time. Each console generation has lasted roughly 5-7 years. Unless a bunch of games are released in the next 12 months that demand more powerful hardware, or VR miraculously takes off like a bushfire, the pro will remain a meme.
The PS5 will be announced before 2019, calling it now.
I watched some comparison videos and in almost all games shown the difference was the stuttery "barely there" fix fps, and actually fix 60fps - at actual native resolution which is 1080p.
Honestly the price increase is harsh, but I feel any future games will be using more and more of it, leaving the old PS4s in the shit at stuttering unreliable framerates.
Why do I need to care for 4k if I buy a pro? As I've seen many games, including Automata which is what I plan buying it for, runs lower than 1080p on the regualr PS4. Looks to me if I care about 1080p I have to buy a Pro, not for 4k.
>literally only Nioh
and R&C and inFamous and Uncharted and Hitman and Battlefield 1 and FFXV and KOF XIV
thats not even counting the games that are objectively better on the Boost Mode like Just Cause, Killzone, Battlefield 4, and Battlefront™
4k is a meme, the ps4 pro isn't a 4k machine
some indie games will be native 4k and that's it, most will probably feature an upscale to 4k
most games on ps4 aren't native 1080p and in THEORY the ps4 pro should be able to at least achieve that
and in PRACTICE it does achieve that
Where exactly? All I know is Nioh does it with 60 fps in 1080 because it was also built around for the PS4 Pro.
Maybe in future PS4 Pro games will be native 1080p.
Except the PRO doesn't ensure smooth 30fps at all. Just get a cheap used PS4 play the exclusives then sell it all again.
Yeah, thats basically what I gathered, I'll probably pony up the extra moneys for the Pro
I figure either
>more new games get treated like Nioh with a very clear and (to me) huge advantage for the Pro
>or the system disappoints me over the next year with nothing I give a shit about coming out - but it being a Pro I'll have better resale value
It was kind of a shock to me that base PS4 isn't 1080p all the time.
>but it being a Pro I'll have better resale value
>and that's about it
You don't seems to like videogames. I'd say no, don't buy it.
You'd have to be stupid to think otherwise user.
agree atleast five games
They have almost the price, I was really against the whole 4.5 consoles and even I can't say no when the price is basically the same
How is 4K supersampling for 50 more dollars a scam?
Jesus christ.
>$50 more
The fuck where do you live? Regular slim here almost $290, Pro $465-480
Don't devs have to patch games so they actually utilise the more powerful hardware and run smoother on a PS4 pro?
Without digging too much!
New PS4: 279€
New PS4 Pro: 399€
A used PS4 is probably half the price.
not that guy but in Australian Dollarydoos:
>slim
$380
>pro
$560
>Pro
>4k supersampling
Kek
Lmao the slim is cheaper than the switch
ninteniggers BTFO
Thats almost exactly the same, except your Pro is $35 usd cheaper. Why do people post in their own currency?
>279
That's the 500gb model
Slims 1Tb are 350. Pro 1Tb are 400.
Stay mad
What kind of a retard would buy the 1TB slim?
I have a pro retard, but it doesn't do native 4k much & it will never do 4k with supersampling
fucking eurogamer using the term supersampling incorrect when Pro downsamples something to make it sound better
just to annoy u
Not annoyed, I just don't see the point so I asked.
What's wrong with the 1 TB slim?
Just because it's checkerboard 4k doesn't remove the fact that it indeed clean up the image nicely.
You can upgrade the HDD yourself for less, and also theres external hdds which I'm told should work soon - and also, its almost as expensive as the Pro.
So really, if you want to save money, 500gb will let you upgrade, for less, if you don't mind spending it, the Pro is better in all ways.
That's just for Final Fantasy.
Devs won't bother coming up with this inane trickery for their games.
And in any case, checkerboard or not, it's not 4k and shouldn't be advertised as such.
It's like saying that playing a 720p game on a full hd screen will make it 1080p.
guys, i'm about to buy a ds4 for my rigs, the question is, will the ds4 be able to play on my botnet 10 with ds4windows?
can i use ds4windows with wireless ds4?
which botnet 10s edition is the least botnet? the enterprise ltsb?
advice pls
Yeah, I say go for it. I'm enjoying it, have a nice library of about 30 games so far, not counting digital titles.
I won't say this again. Every games are required to have 4k modes now, and you can sample down on your 1080p TV for all of them. Whether or not it's not "muh true" 4k doesn't matter in the least when it does clean up the image anyway.
It works perfectly on 8.1 and 8.1 works perfectly for everything, so you should know what I'm actually suggesting.
meaning? is it regarding ds4?
how about botnet 10s?
which edition is the least cancerous?
cause my build is kaby lake
its all cancer
so enterprise ltsb is cancer also?
which edition should i install for gaming?
can ds4 be used wireless on ds4windows?
pro isnt worth the extra 150 euro
just like the Slim and Original aren't worth their price tags
>30fps
>smooth
pick one faggot
>when it does clean up the image anyway.
youtube.com
its win10, its cancer
and yes it works wirelessly as long as you have good bluetooth connector
I bought a PS4 two days ago just for Bloodborne.
It has already been worth the money for me. I was considering getting Nioh as well before I bought it, but honestly Bloodborne is worth it on its own.
And no I'm not rich, I had to save for 4 weeks to afford it. No regrets.
well i'm gonna be installing that cancer then, what settings should i toggle so it won't suddenly restart my shit when playing re7?
also, is the input command when using ds4windows will be xbox or ds4?
i just got a pro for 280
its a substantial upgrade. BB looks great
oh btw I did not buy a Pro, don't do that
the pro doesn't do shit
>I had to save for 4 weeks
So you are child?
Pro is a meme if you already own a PS4
Pro is not a meme if you get getting a PS4 for the first time.
Nioh and BB are both great games.
>gr
I'd have absolutely agreed before boost mode, but now theres evidence to the contrary.
I'd never buy a pro if I owned a ps4 already, but it'd feel gimped if I didn't buy the most capable now...
No, I only have a part time job at the moment and I had to pay for a new radiator for my car. I wish I was a child.
I didn't really HAVE to save for 4 weeks, but I put $90 a week towards it in order to still have spending money/money for emergencies. You know, grown up stuff?
Yeah be happy with 2013 hardware guys, don't upgrade.
Pro is a meme, and I wouldn't recommend buying a PS4 for one or two games unless you can buy it cheep second hand.
Pro is an extra $200 here... I'm not saying its not better, its just not worth it thats all.
I personally think "grown up stuff" is not living on your money on a week-to-week basis.
Thats more like uni-student, first-year-first-job thing.
>boost mode
this is why the Pro is a pure scam.
They could have enabled the boost mode on the normal PS4 too (which is just a bit of overclocking), but they didn't.
And you can be sure they'll be adding more Pro-only inane gimmicks to make the scam look less like one.
Well there are heat limitations user, and the slim is considerably smaller while the original is considerably hotter by default.
Not that I want to defend it, it is a fucking scam by all means, the original should've come with this hardware and these functions.
But there are *some* valid reasons for not letting you OC your console just like that. Even the pro melted itself before.
Id get it for PS VR alone, it's absolutely incredible and looks like VR is going to be dominated by the PS market in the future.
That aside you've got:
> Destiny
> TLOU
> FFX HD remaster
> Nioh
> The Last Guardian
> Driveclub
> Bloodborne
> Unchartered 4
> Ratchet and Clank
> FFXV
Then to look forward to:
> Red Dead 2
> Destiny 2
> TLOU 2
> FF7 Remake
> Nier Automata
> Tekken 7
> Crash Bandicoot
To reiterate though, the PSVR is fucking incredible and the most fun I've had in gaming since I was a kid. Only played it on a Pro though.......
PS4 has won this generation. Buying one now makes you a fucking WTJ. Do you want to be the cancer that destroys balance? No? Then do the right thing, buy a switch and show the others that you can be good even when the odds are against you.
>PSVR
kek VR is nice but PSVR is the most limited, worthless form of it
Playing on a DK2 would probably have blown your mind to the same level.
Also man I hate those lists it really shows how much I don't give a shit about on this thing.
Here was my budget for the month that I bought the PS4
earning p/w = 900
-150 rent
-70 food
-150 radiator
-25 internet
-20 phone
- 200 savings
= 285 spending
-85 playstation
I don't know what I can do to be more grown up? Maybe get a mortgage?
t. nintendobaby
>I want to play Nioh and BB and that's about it.
Do it like everyone else and wait for the new gen and then buy it used and all the games you want for 50 bucks. That way you at least don't hurt the vidya in any way.
I'm getting the pro, saw a video comparison between the two consoles, it looked smoother on the pro.
I fell like I would be "missing out" on something if I get the slim, so I guess it's worth the extra $100
It's the only form of VR that's had a AAA release so far, it dominates the VR market already in terms of sales, so it's the most likely to be considered for all the bigger titles in the future which aren't just gimmicks. The gimmicks are cool for now and still very enjoyable, but I can see that having a shelf life, sort of like he Wii.
Im sure you're right though, I would have enjoyed other VR headsets though, but they would require me to buy a high spec PC just for the VR, which I'm not willing to do.
It is all just gimmicks though, and PSVR technically is at the same level as a DK2 (which btw would only need a mid-tier PC today, I used one to great effect with a gtx770)
PSVR will get the sony funded crap, but AAA means little here, it means they have to cater it to absolutely anyone because its hard to sell anyway (small PSVR market) so they cannot alienate even the smallest part of that.
PC has so many free titles, mods, "gimmicks" and so on to have fun with VR, not to mention porn and all the experimental stuff that will actually define the future of VR - the stuff that AAA money will only start flowing into once theres a rock-solid basis. PSVR won't take any chances, VR on PC will.
I don't think either one is worth it right now for what they offer, but I'm sure PSVR has very little to offer in the long term.
Well it depends on the person. If you don't want games like FFXV or KH3 at 60fps with clearer visuals, then yeah it's definitely not worth it.
>70 food
You eat and drink for like 2.1 a day?
