Alright Sup Forums, you're tasked with assigning only ONE game from each of these franchises to get someone interested in them.
They must be considered the best of the best yet also a good entry point to the series for new comers. What do you pick for each one?
Sebastian Ross
>Final Fantasy 7 >Dragon Quest 4 >SMT Digital Devil Saga >Tales n/a never played one
Grayson Anderson
>FF X >DQ 5 >Megaten Devil Survivor >Tales Abyss
Luke Hill
FFVII DQVIII Soul Hackers Tales of Eternia
Nathaniel Roberts
FF7 if they don't mind graphics, FF10 HD if they do. Dragon Quest 8. SMT3 Nocturne. Persona 3. Tales I don't know shit about since it looks like Sup Forums trash.
Zachary Ortiz
>Tales I don't know shit about since it looks like Sup Forums trash. >suggest Persona 3
Cognitive dissonance?
Luis Lewis
Persona 3 doesn't look like literal KAWAII UGUU MOESHIT like Tales does. You have to have brain damage to look at their art styles and say they are the same. Persona 3 has the mainstream western appeal kind of anime art style. Tales has the moeshit Sup Forums garbage style with kawaii uguu shit.
Jonathan Myers
FFIX DQVIII Nocturne Berseria
Benjamin Howard
If they play the best game in the series, then what's the point of them playing the rest of the games? I'd just tell them to play the first game in the series for DQ and Tales, but for SMT I would recommend Jack Bros.
Matthew Murphy
Oh, I didn't even notice FF there. I'd say try out 3, then, since it's a solid game without too much of the melodrama that comes with the later entries.
Camden Sullivan
Persona 3 for megaten, for sure. Not the very best but easiest to get into. Sets knowledge up for better mainline games. You can start with any Final Fantasy i think, they're all equally good / easy to get into.
Oliver White
You're an idiot.
Lincoln Nelson
>FF 10 >DQ 8 >Megaten DeSu2 >Tales They're all mediocre and not worth playing.
Connor Perry
The point is to draw them into the series. If they liked what the best had to offer, then they may be more forgiving/open in their search/playthroughs of other games in the series, and at least will get them hyped for future titles in the series.
Adrian Diaz
kill you're self
Elijah Fisher
>Persona 3 doesn't look like literal KAWAII UGUU MOESHIT did you not see the robot with boobs or the dog party-member or that you spent the majority of the game in a japanese highschool?? just because P3 is "darker" doesnt mean it isnt just as generic anime
Nolan Wood
>shitty series forced to be extra baggage for the far superior spinoff Really makes me think.
Leo Gonzalez
>FF XV >DQ V >Persona 4 >SMT Nocturne >Tales I only played Innocence.
Austin Hernandez
I don't understand why you would recommend playing FFXV to get someone interested in the other FF games when it plays nothing like the others.
Owen Sullivan
not him but might as well go with the most approachable, get it out of the way, then have them ditch the series instead of never playing it
Jaxon Baker
Because it's the best FF and every FF is different anyway.
Adam Jones
FFV, DQV, ToV, DDS as they're both basically halves of the same game, P3
>FF 6. It captures the feel of the series without being too overly challenging. >DQ 8. Because the games are very similar in gameplay, it's better to push someone in the direction of the best game first and have them decide later if they want to play the other good ones. >SMT Persona 3 Portable so you can actually control your fucking allies goddamn >Tales Vesperia. It's a lengthy game that really gives a feel for the series overall. Playing any game after it will make you appreciate the different combat systems of the older and newer games.
Nathan Jenkins
It's not about giving them the best in the series first, it's about giving them the game that is both newcomer friendly and represents what each respective series is about
Samuel Carter
>Final Fantasy FF9
>Dragon Quest Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
>SMT Strange Journey
>Persona (^:;
>Tales of Symphonia
Xavier Ward
Don't play Final Faggotry >good entry points while also being great >DQV >Nocturne >Abyss
Gavin Morales
>Don't play Final Faggotry Did some kids laugh at you for being bad at Final Fantasy or something when you were a kid?
Christian Walker
>Final Fantasy 9 >Dragon Quest 5 >SMT None lmao Nocturne >Tales of Symphonia
Matthew Russell
>bad at Final Fantasy Do you even hear yourself? Don't get upset because someone doesn't like your trash series for normalfags.
Daniel Smith
DON'T MAKE FUN OF FINAL FANTASY 8
Eli Peterson
I bet you thought you could beat the dragon didn't you?
Jose Lopez
>Final Fantasy IV
>Dragon Quest III or IV
>SMT DDS1&2 or Persona3 FES
>Tales Symphonia
Kevin Powell
>Devil Survivor I've played and completed over a dozen SMT games and that's the first one I fucking dropped.
Dominic Carter
Have the same problem as the other guy. Persona games at least have a more contemporary setting than some generic-ass moe fantasy world.
Ayden Brooks
>Final Fantasy VI because it might help make their mind up about playing some of the older ones and VI is genuinely a really good fucking game in the series anyway. >SMT Persona 3 as much I hate to say it.
Literally no idea about anything else. Have only played Tales of Zestiria and that was enough to turn me off the series.
Jaxson Cook
>6 >8 >DDS >Vesperia
Liam Watson
You should try out literally any other Tales game if you want to give that series another try because Zestiria is the absolute worst entry. It was so bad that the guy who was in charge of the series for a long time was "promoted" to get his hands off the series.
Julian Howard
Zestiria is LITERALLY the worst in the series.
Emulate the PS1 version of Phantasia.
Andrew Young
>Nocturne
if i had no prior smt experience this shit would have made me drop nocturne easy
Carson Richardson
ffx dq8 p4g Vesperia
Joseph Hall
ff 11 dq X smt nine tales of destiny
Joseph Price
>smt nine Wouldn't Imagine be a better starting point?
Adam Richardson
V IV Strange Journey + P2 Duology Phantasia
Jayden Parker
that isnt on consoles op wants introductions not elitist games
Brody Wilson
How can you be introduced by a game that doesn't exist?
Caleb Rodriguez
I've never played a final fantasy or dragon quest game before even though SMT is one of my favorite series and I enjoyed tales games thoroughly.
where should I start? FF12 looks the most appealing. dragon quest, I have no idea.
Josiah James
First, you can't just recommend a game nowadays, since graphic whores and/or lazy "completionists" are now widely numerous. And by "lazy completionists" I mean people who skip dialogues, read walkthrough alongside their first playthrough and use save states continually in games like Fire Emblem.
Once you've identified the kind of person you're dealing with:
A genuine RPG fan
>FF 9 or 6 depending of age >Dragon Quest 8 >SMT Nocturne or 2 depending of age >Tales Eternia (Destiny 2) or Phantasia depending of age
For nu-RPG fans >FF 10 or 7 depending of age >Dragon Quest 9 >SMT Persona 4 or Nocturne >Tales Vesperia
Colton Smith
>where should I start? FF6 or FF9 Don't listen to the FF7 memers
Easton Cox
You can start with 12 if you want, but it's not quite like the other games. Outside of that one, 7 and 9 are also good.
Caleb Myers
7 8 4 Abyss
Brandon Powell
>Abyss ABYSSFAGS NEED TO LEAVE THIS FUCKING BOARD ***RIGHT*** NOW
Bentley Lopez
V V IV Symphonia
Ethan Mitchell
Is Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker any good?
Wyatt Kelly
It's better than half the series and offers a better journey than most of the games from FF and Tales.
Sometimes simplicity is a positive, and DQ1 is a fun 7 hour adventure (most versions, anyway).
Michael Martin
I liked it.
Nolan Morales
i played the original desu2 but it was really good. give it a shot
