The characters are creative and have fun movesets.

The dungeons are interesting

The combat system is fun and the pvp is fun as fuck

(The only downside is that it has p2w elements just like any free mmo)

The game is not even truly 2d, its 2.5d, the maps sometimes curve into the third dimension.

It also has a vastly different combat system and dungeon system than maple story

Who gives a fuck about PvP when they are first starting a game? It's something you aren't likely to get into for several months to several years anyways, and I would hope that the game is not relying on PvP to be interesting. There have to be some interesting sidescroller brawlers out there which don't involve grinding for classes before you can get to the meat of the game.

They lost me at the "Each backpack gives like 5 slots and you need like 5 for 5 or 6 different inventory slots to fully expand your bag, not to mention bank needs expanding too" meme.

The first thing i always do in freemium games is expand inventory to max and then costumes. and i think i was looking at like 150$+ initial purchase or some shit like that and backed out.

In todays day and age, having to pay extra for costumes to be permanent is ridiculous. Who wants to rent fictional items?

That said i miss my deadly chaser, dual pistol classes are my jam.

I agree Elsword's cash shop is WAY too greedy and it sucks.

It really does because otherwise the game has potential.

This is coming from someone who shelled out over years in the thousands for some of Aerias games, especially Eden Eternal/Dragomon So i'm not entirely adverse to cash shops, but i do have a ceiling and alot more so now that i moved and am out of a job. My only other complaint with the game was that there was no real sense of community when i played. Couldn't figure out any reason why one would join a guild when all quests and such we're typically done through random party finding, and the pvp community atleast when i played was full of whiney people when they lost and smug ones when they won. So it kinda felt more like a single player mmo + pvp

Maple Story was pretty fun tho user.

Elsword is VERY different from maple aside from the fact they are both 2d, and even then Elsword is not truly 2d

Elsword is kind of fun. I start it up every now and then to try a new character but always get bored by the time I get them to 3rd job. Running dungeons with friends is fun as shit though and it's great having pissing contests to see who can clear entire screens first and get MVP.

Something about it just doesn't have lasting appeal to me though.

Elsword NA is mismanaged heap of trash though. "KOG Games" (can't remember how they were called before, was it "KC" or something?) repedeately downplayed events, reducing rewards and silencing whoever noted that same events in korea payed out tons more stuff.
EXP table also is more grindy on NA, even after nerf they shitted out.

As a game, outside of server wars, it can be fun. I kinda wish they made proper beat-'em-up with hordes of enemies and stuff, there is some potential, and they have fuck loads of money from everyone dressing their Evas and Aishas up.
