Never played RPG game except Witcher 3. Just started ME2 on PC (its free on origin)
is it any fun? so far combat seems little basic(playing soldier) and enemies die too fast.
also no graphical options and game looking quite old

The main story is stupid as shit once you stop and think about it, but the missions, side quests, and characters/character interactions are great. Definitely worth a playthrough.
Don't play soldier since it's a simple FPS as that point - you even get a time slowing mechanic like FEAR. Vanguard (rushing enemies with a charge power then shotgunning them) and Biotic/Adept (using space magic) are the most fun classes to play.
Seconded for the most part.
Main plot's an excuse for some fun character story arcs.
Vanguard is the way to go gameplay-wise.
it's fine
its main features were looking much nicer and being more "streamlined" UI/RPG-wise than 1 (mixed blessing, really). haven't played it in about 4 years but I'm not surprised to hear those things don't really stand up anymore
there are some interesting characters and locations, it's a fun sort of adventure/dicking-around-in-the-galaxy game, although the melodramatic main mission is more of a drag than anything
>Playing soldier
Stop....restart......Pick Vanguard!
This. Play as a biotic and asign your powers to hotkeys for feeling like an actual biotic badass
Romance is pretty crap in ME2, because no Liara and you only get to bang once before the suicide mission
The main story is completely pointless and has nothing to do with stopping the reapers.
You play it for the quirky cast that is your suicide team whilst being part of black ops organisation in the wild west sector of space.
Echoing this. Personally enjoyed ME2 more than ME1.
Does anyone still play ME3's multiplayer? That shit was fun but I stopped playing years ago. I'll probably get Andromeda since it may be worth it just for the multiplayer/horde even if the single player game ends up sucking.
>>so far combat seems little basic(playing soldier) and enemies die too fast.
>picks the most basic class
>probably playing on normal
god damn it user, do yourself a favour and restart as Vanguard on Hard or whatever the fuck the hardest difficulty was called
I still get games within minutes on PC, and you can mod online as well since bioware doesn't give a fuck about it anymore.
Widow+Soldier is extremely fun and powerful.
Claymore+Vanguard is awesome as well.
Play Sentinel if you just want to be an invincible jack of all trades.
Everything else is shit.
>you can mod online
So can you unlock all classes without getting/buying crates? I quit playing before I got the Volus adept
ME1 has best story, best gf simulator, best hub world (Citadel) but shit gameplay and visuals
ME2 has best cast, best DLC (Shadow Broker), but mediocre gameplay and inconsequential story
ME3 has best gameplay, fun mp, but most disappointing ending and depressing war story
ME 1 is the far better RPG.
ME 2 is just a corridor shooter.
>but shit gameplay and visuals
There was nothing wrong with the visuals of ME 1.
You forgot BEST EXPLORING BECAUSE THE MAKO WAS FUCKING FUN.
Also, SHITTY FUCKING PROBES IN ME 2. Jesus, what a goddamned disappointment that whole game was.
ME1 is vastly superior in almost every way.
even combat
ME2 is the highlight of the series, but ME3 has damn good multiplayer, ME1 was good for a playthrough.
Not that guy but I always thought the ME series' art direction is top notch but it's let down by the actual graphics in game, the lighting always seems to be too monochromatic and high-contrast so what should be atmospheric and moody ends up looking kind of bland. Also shooting and combat in general in ME1 was a lot less refined than in Me2 and 3.
I agree on the mako though, I actually liked exploring the empty planets and the feeling of size it gave to the universe. I see why they removed it but its a shame they didnt add in another way for the player to take a break from the story and just go explore the universe for a bit.
I'm still launching origin for the first time this year to get ME 2
fucking updates man
2 was my favorite.
3 seemed like too much Mass Effect.
1 fucking sucks now, not the story, not the graphics, the fucking 2 minute ability CDs.
>Never played RPG game except Witcher 3
Then you start with the classics, fuckwad
Chrono Trigger, Baldurs Gate, Plan escape Torment, Earthbound, Fallout 1/2, Earthbound, KotOR, Final Fantasy IV, VI, or VII, and so many others.
Then, play Mass Effect 1 first.
I fucking loved Mass Effect 2. It was the first ME game that I played. I went back and played the first one after that then bought 3 day one.
I really loved ME2, though I can look at it critically and see its flaws it still did a lot for me. I think this is mainly because I'm all about space operas. It depends on what you're looking for though.
>depressing war story
More like dumbest.
>Deal with Cerberus fucking around more than with the actual Reapers
>Go back to Citadel
>Overhear some Asari that forgot her Krogan sized dildo on some random planet
>Play Pacman: Reaper dlc skin pack on the galactic map
>Go back to Citadel and it's 2 minutes of loading screens
>"Thanks, I'll give you a random number that equals the Rachni army for getting me this".
>Walk around Citadel and everyone is still shopping and clubbing
Great setting for galactic extinction.
