What the FUCK were they doing for nearly a decade?! It definitely didn't involve learning a lack of game design over the course of an entire fucking system cycle.

The AI was intentionally designed to make it feel like you were controlling a wild beast. Because of this it's charming, cute, and frustrating.

But this frustration is justified because of how it's designed and its context.
