>Mario Golf: World Tour Game was already released at a cheaper price. DLC literally doubled the amount of courses and content. >Hyrule Warriors - $20 Shit tons of content, introduced new characters, maps and stories. Nothing taken away from the main mode. >Mario Kart 8 - $13 16 new tracks, 6 new characters. Great value. >Super Smash Brothers 4 Cheaper characters/stages than any other fighting game. >New Super Luigi U 94 new levels for 1/3rd the price of the base game. Nothing taken away from the main mode. >Pikmin 3 Additional treasure maps and battle enemy maps added hours and hours of game play with great replaybility. Nothing taken away from the main mode.
>Fire Emblem Awakening >Fire Emblem Fates These were both done shitty but still nothing taken away from the main mode.

Sm4sh and Pikmin 3 DLC was pretty jewish, FE's DLC was extremel jewy, the rest I agree with. However, I'm not keen on BotW's "DLC Pack 1" consisting of a Cave of Ordeals type thing and hard mode - that's just ridiculous. Furthermore, you can't buy the packs standalone, the only way to get the DLC Pack 2 (i.e. the only one that seems worth it) is to buy the whole "season pass".
It's pretty dumb and I hope the backlash prompts them to change it.

How?

Well of course. It's always >Nintendo said they'd never do DLC ignoring the context of them saying they would only add onto a full game. But then nothing is a full game when you want to shitpost about DLC
Wyatt Taylor
BotW DLC pack 1? the fuck you on about? They announced DLC? Game isn't even out yet! Let me look this up. As a big nintendo fan this intrigues me because i've always wanted zelda to have an expansion.

>Fire Emblem Awakening >Fire Emblem Fates >These were both done shitty but still nothing taken away from the main mode. Aside making the games stories not shit
Jaxon Long
Sm4sh was like $5 for a character and a stage, neither of which are much in terms of actual content, especially compared with MK8's DLC pricing. Pikmin 3 has a similar problem, being also too overpriced in my opinion.
Benjamin Sullivan
Okay nevermind, that is horse shit.pack 1 should be included as a free update. Hard mode? Seriously? That's the dlc? pack 2 better be blood and wine tier then. And I can't buy only the second one? God damn. I'm actually mad.
Blake Kelly
I havent played it but I heard revelations had an even worse story than conquest
Hunter Wright
I can't even purchase pikmin 3 dlc. It's not on the eshop. What was it?
Jaxson Brooks
>pack 2 better be blood and wine tier then >New Original story(which is probably a small sidequest) >New dungeon >additional challenges
uuh
Hudson James
Yea it won't be. I know. So it's a bust.
Aiden Hill
The damage control is real.
DLC in a game like Zelda makes Nintendo just as bad as Activision and EA, but at least they don't force you to buy a gimmicky as fuck console on top of their "expansion passes".
Just embarrassing.
Nicholas Kelly
Nintendo. I will buy the Switch and all the add ons if you can justify paid hard mode in 1 (ONE) minute
Kevin Rodriguez
The only DLC that Nintendo made that I happily paid for was Mario kart 8.
Mason Hernandez
who cares day 1 pirate lmao
Christian Thomas
We cannot. Unless it pulls a master quest and changes all the dungeons, that's unlikely and honestly not even sure if I would say that justifies it.
Jonathan Williams
>Hyrule Warriors Legends exists and added $25 of DLC to the base game which amounted to 10 characters >Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will exist and owners of the original won't even get that content despite paying more for less >Smash Bros >Cheap It's costs more than the game itself for 7 characters, and that's not including the stages or costumes. Which all cost EVEN MORE if you want them for more than one version of the game which themselves have exclusive content >New Super Mario Bros 2 Level sets you can't even play individually that add up to more than the base game. A gold edition with it built in was made but is exclusively a digital title for a specific model of 3DS XL
Face it, Nintendo doesn't actually do DLC right. They either put a superfluous price tag on what should be unlockable levels that more than double the price of the whole product, or hold back a huge chunk of the game for a $20 season pass which they then include in a rerelease THAT HAS ITS OWN $20 SEASON PASS.
Jordan Foster
>Rip content and sell it back >Ever a justifiable thing to do
It's not OK when FromSoft does it, it's not OK when Nintendo does it. The only difference is the former makes half-decent games, the latter makes what may as well be akin to shovelware at this point.
Serious question for people who want Nintendo to go third-party; Have you genuinely ever looked at a game or a prospective game and thought "Man, Nintendo EAD would be a great developer for this project!"
They're hasbeens. Trash who couldn't keep up with the times. As depressing as the "times" are, Nintendo's business practices are trying to adjust to them, but their development practices aren't.
Fuck Ocarina of Time 5. Make a real game, or even a fucking movie, if you even can.
Levi Bell
Hyrule Warriors and Pikmin 3 had great DLC.
New Super Luigi U is apparently quite good. Good enough to get its own separate game and praised better than the first, for certain.
Mario Kart 8 DLC divided the online community in half. You either bought the DLC or your were stuck in increasingly empty public lobbies. Good luck finding much of anyone to race with anymore online if you don't cough up the $15 for the DLC purchase.
Fire Emblem Awakening DLC seems okay enough, assuming that you ignore how poorly designed the base game is without the option of infinitely playing a DLC stage. (Alternately, how broken grinding on an infinite DLC stage is to the base game.) Several DLC stages also gut a number of characters in the game, but those are the blatant fanservice situations so I'm willing to give those a pass.
Fire Emblem Fates was just killed by the split path and the DLC requirement for optional routes. It's hard to blame DLC for this, given just how awful the rest of the game is, but that sure doesn't help any. Having a choice of "Side with Hoshido", "Side with Nohr", and "Connect Online for Optional Downloadable Story Paths" was not exactly a great way of handling it.
