Any tips for a newfag?

you will lose members.
and that is alright.

If you haven't upgraded the part that gives you more heroes every week as soon as you got to the hamlet restart and to that.

Yes.
Prepare to get fucked.

Ruins: Bring Blight attacks, Stun attacks, stun resist, more keys and holy water than usual.

Cove: Bring Blight attacks, Stun attacks, Bleed resist and more Medicinal herbs and bandages than usual.

Weald: Bring enemy debuffs, Mark target-abilities, Blight resist, more antivenom than usual.

Warrens: Bring Bleed, enemy damage debuffs, Disease resist, Stun resist, and bring more Medicinal herbs than usual.

Supplies can be used on stuff you find on hallways, not just on your heroes. For example if you use Antivenom on a tree stump in the Weald, theres a high chance you wont get poisoned and you will also find more treasure from it.

It's about letting go.

Remember that everything is expendable and learn when you should cut your loses and leave a dungeon early

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer

I normally play games on hard-mode and like the challenge, but everything about this game EXCEPT the annoying perma-death challenge interests me, and since I play it at work (paramedic, play vidya/watch movies at station), I really didn't wanna get all stressed out with my heroes dying after putting hours into them.

Ironically, for what this game is, I'm playing it casually with a bunch of mods installed, turning it more into a fun, gothic dungeon crawler.

So for all that, I'm liking it. At least it kills time at the station.

this ain't xcom

SERIOUSLY though
CRIMSON COURT WHEN?

OP here, just lighted some altar with torch and got rekt by some shadow dude with 70+ hp.
Feels bad man.

T.Hanks, will study this

Keep a Steam Guide to the dungeon Curios open so you can know what they do right away. That way you wont be wasting equipment or gaining stress through trial and error.

Okay, the one thing I can't figure out is how much equipment to bring on missions. Do I always have to bring a very good supply of torches, food, bandages, etc or is there a point where I can skimp on them?

The retreat button is always available, try to use it before your entire party is afflicted, predict when runs will go bad. If you retreat you keep all the money you collected, and your heroes stay alive of course.

Never interact with anything without an item. Keys for chests for an obvious example, bring a few extras on runs and experiment

Shovels are very important, always have one or two

Best boy

Read descriptions, "If you crave the void" is on that altar. He drops very powerful trinkets but will fuck your shit

yeah avoid altar for now

>Occultist killing someone with his "healing"

Never gets old.

Dont over value your heroes. The low level ones at least, tons of people waste thousands upon thousands of gold at the start curing the stress of their dudes instead of just dismissing the level 0 shits.

The only people that are exempt from this are dismas and reynauld. It is your duty to keep them alive all the way to the darkest dungeon.

When youre feeling comfortable with your finances thats when you hold onto heroes and starting build teams

It's alright everyone did that.

You can trade heirlooms back in Hamlet, bottom left

Keep upgrading your combat skills, weapons and armor

Lock in good quirks and remove attribute-lowering ones asap

If you're sanic fast you can use proper items with curios if one of your characters tries to interact with it on their own, like if they're obsessed with dead bodies for example, they'll try to loot a corpse sometimes but you can right click a bandage before he does it.

Ain't nothing stopping Reynauld's jewery though until you send him to the good doctor.

Depends on the length of the dungeon.

I generally go for about 1.5 stacks of torches, one stack of food, and a couple of shovels times the length of the dungeon.

Other items can vary depending on the locale of the dungeon.

Remember to conserve your torches, and that food can heal you in a pinch.

Best team.

Happened to me recently, I held fast and prevailed but it sure scared me to death.
