The bigger thing is that FE is a series that Nintendo actually seems to care about making games for lately. It's more a matter of taking what you can get rather than what you want.

Then modern fire emblem will satsify that somewhat as long as you don't play on classic.

I might go back and play them on 3DS. I never finished the stories myself, always got stuck endgame and needed help.

This may be the only case when unrealistic anime designs don't bother me in a video game

The problem always has been it's jut not as popular as fire emblem and I guess IS gets bored of tactics all the time.

This. Even when FE was selling poorly, they still had IS shitting the games out. Pikmin is proof that Nintendo will continue supporting a dead series as long as its developers want to keep making them. It's also why I suspect we'll see a sequel to Codename STEAM.

I don't want another Wars, if only because they'd put no real effort into it.

The first Advance Wars is boring garbage. Are the other games better? I think I will try Dual Strike since I didn't like the preppy characters in the first game. Gameplay was too repetitive though.

2 is a massive upgrade but if you thought the first was garbage you're beyond help

The gameplay was fine but the early maps were so fucking boring, I couldn't force myself trough them. I suspect the game gets a lot more interesting in mid game trough end game.

AW has a 10/10 character artstyle, much better than FE in my opinion

Too much fucking taking. Gameplay is pretty frustrating to. But it was made like 17 years ago so I'll hope it improves with time

You'll like the later games then. Advance Wars 2 doesn't have any of the tutorial bullshit, more CO variety in the Campaign and a ton of map-specific gimmicks to keep things interesting.

Oz comes out of no where eventually and is only really relevant to tie in the oz crew(you also get tin man, scarecrow and Dorothy). I guess it's main purpose in the story is to create the fucking cliffhanger he mentioned since it introduces the possibility of Lincoln teleporting to safety
