Now that the dust has settled, is this worth getting? Haven't played pokemon since x/y (and I thought it was terrible.) I have a pokemon itch.
Important to me in a pokemon game: -Not the same exact story as last time -Good end game -Pokemon I could see myself caring about
Did it deliver? Should I pick it up? Or should I just emulate one of the older games and call it a day?
Jordan Barnes
Very yes, even the gym structure is different It's OK. Yes.
James Baker
>Not the same exact story as last time The plot isn't really anything like the other games. >Good end game It's alright. >Pokemon I could see myself caring about There are quite a few. The majority of this gen's Pokémon have a lot of personality if nothing else.
Nolan Gomez
>not the same exact story as last time It's not really, but the whole game feels like the tutorial part of X/Y stretched into a game, basically a lot of cutscenes and railroading >good end game There's some neat features and the game opens up once you're the champ, but there's better postgame in other titles in the series >Pokémon I could see myself caring about This all comes down to your personal taste, like for me I liked most of the normal and alola variant Pokémon, but some of them and the ultra beasts look absurd to me.

I got moon for $30 at launch, got about halfway through the game and died of boredom. It's got some great new mechanics that I think are an improvement to the overall pokemon battle formula, but the whole islands and totems thing is hot garbage. Keep the current engine but bring back gyms, make the world more open again, then I'd be happy with the purchase. I'm a genwunner and I'm going to trade it back in to amazon if I ever get the time to grind through the "story."
Andrew Murphy
Played every main series game and for some reason this is the most challenging for me. Maybe it's my team, but I just keep getting 1 hit ko or near death. It's good so far OP. Different more than black and white was. Too many fucking cutscenes though. Every 5 steps there's a cutscene like MGS4 except worse because it goes on throughout the whole game.
Charles Jackson
>Every 5 steps there's a cutscene like MGS4 except worse because it goes on throughout the whole game.
nice meme this stops after island 1
Adam Diaz
It's almost on par with Gen 5 and easily as good as Gen 4. It blows 3 and 6 out of the water completely, although that isn't hard since they were trash, and it's better than 1
Daniel Phillips
>stops after island 1 Nice meme
Stops after you become champ

Not even, worse than the rest and barely surpasses gen VI. Easily one of the worst pokemon games I've played in a while. For everything it does right, it gets so many other things wrong.
Leo Bennett
You can't turn of the fucking rotom pokedex who tells you every 30 seconds where to go next.
Too many "cutscenes" that tell you shit that you either already know or to tell you where to go next, very little to do with the story.
Worth it if you're into online battling though.
Jackson Cox
No, they're shit. The only thing I liked about these games was the increased difficulty but that's it. Everything else was underwhelming or shit.
Chase Ramirez
wtf this is literally the easiest game open up wonder trade and offer up a lvl 5 pidgey and you'll get a lvl 30 psyduck or some shit
Wyatt Hughes
You're wrong. I just got that rock diamond and this shit is STILL happening.
Brody Ross
get a stuffull with fluffly and see how you suddenly got a new best bro, especially when it can ice/thunder punch. Happened with me user.
Eli Reyes
It's probably the worst Pokemon game I've played. The hand holding is extreme, you no longer have HMs but instead ride set pokemon (LET'S ADVERTISE YOU RIDING ON A CHARIZARD LIKE YOU CAN FINALLY FLY ON YOUR OWN POKEMON.... JUST KIDDING, IT'S SHIT). The trials are a joke, the hakunas? are a joke. I'm on the 4th? island and I struggle to motivate myself to play more. Was hoping the Fire type starter would finally not be some kind of homosexual humanoid that's been forced down our throats since fucking Ruby/Sapphire with the repeated Fire/Fighting types BUT GUESS WHAT, final evolution is some kind of digimon looking piece of shit that'll no doubt generate endless waves of yaoi furry horseshit doujins. I can't even bring myself to pet the thing anymore because I just feel like a raging faggot petting a guy in a fur suit.
Just look at the fucking thing, it obviously was going to be Fire/Fighting and they just decided to change it up by making it Dark.
Cameron Long
this is bait. don´t think of it.
>trials are a joke then don´t play with exp share and set your battle style to set, you fucking mongloid. >fire starter Literally everyone and their uncle knew how they gonna look, because it was literally leaked in fucking may and it was even oficially released. Also it is a heel you stupid fag, that´s why it is part dark. And if you think that every Pokemon with a human-like design is furry shit, then you wouldn´t even played gen1 you fag.
Connor Ross
To be honest OP, it's worth a play but not worth the buy, considering it's a Pokémon game that will never drop its price, you can always buy it and sell it afterwards since Pokémon games tend to retain its value but I would just take the easy route and pirate it, there's a high chance you'll drop it after the first 2 hours due he extreme hand holding.
Jaxson Wilson
I deposited my starter Pokémon after it evolved the first time. All starters have hideous designs. Your rival even starts with the one that's weak to you and you start with a STAB move so you just one-shot your rival in the first battle (so much fun). The encounter rates of gen1 Pokémon is so high and the rates of new Pokémon is so slow that your party will be a boring mess. They also added "trials" which were universally agreed to be the worst part of the recent Zelda games. Nintendo is diconnected from the modern era. This game truly sucks
Jose Thompson
Fuck off furfag shill, the game is shit and you know it. The only decent thing about this game is being able to cure status ailments after battles in the little w/e the fuck mode so you don't have to carry around as many items.
Dominic Morris
S&M are the Smash 4 of Pokemon.
They're decent, but questionable design decisions and the removal of features from previous games keep these two from completely surpassing their predecessors.
Jonathan Morris
The story is terrible, it doens't revolve around the player like it should, you're just drag along some shitty family soap opera.
The end game is shallow, all you have is the battle tree which granted I spent around 60 hours just getting 50 wins in a row. I actually had to mastered the whole ev, iv shit, move sets, really strategy.
But it's lacking, bw2, had a battle tree, a pokemon world tournament(where you can fight every vip in the series and it's challenging.), and the subway battles, AND black tower, and White tree hollow, AND difficulty settings. Gen 5 was objectively the best in the series, gen 6 and 7 are quite the step down.
Battling is laggy even in just 1v1s, enemy encounters take longer on average, the game is really small.
Honestly, I don't recommend you buy it UNLESS you already have a 3ds and nothing to play. They are NOT very good pokemon games, but not nearly as bad as xy.
Just emulate gen 5, if you haven't already played the games.
Bentley Bailey
It has too many cutscenes at the start but its really good. Sorta meh postgame but I got 200 hours out of it.
