Nintendo Switch is almost here, and with it comes the return of the Visa checkout deal. As I mentioned in the thread with a similar deal early last month, it basically boils down to a 25 off sale if you play your cards right, which states with GCU's 20 percent off new titles. While you can use this on anything in the store, I am going to showcase some breakdowns with switch games and accessories, showing you the math and how to maximize. Everything will be rounded to nearest dollar, and not including taxes, to make it more simple than last time. Ready?

First, you need to register for Visa checkout at checkout.visa.com. Now, we can begin. Now, this is assuming you have GCU. If you don't know what us, it's the 15 dollar a year membership similar to gamester s that best buy offers, except instead of used games, its 20 percent off new games and amigo. with GCU in mind, breakdown goes like this.
60 USD games are 48 USD
50 USD games are 40 USD
30 USD games are 24 USD
20 USD games are 16 USD
So yeah, it's pretty beefy.
The tricky part is maximizing this. to get optimal savings, you need to be as close to 100 USD without going under. with 2 60 USD games, the best way to do it is with a 5 gift card. Due to the threshold, this will only "cost" you loss of savings of 1 dollar. Here is how the final breakdown with this scenario looks like...
Go on? Did you not write this all out ahead of time?
Not including any taxes, 2 60 USD games and a 5 USD gift card ends up being 101 bucks, minus 24 USD discount, which ends up being 77 bucks, meaning you could think of this as 2 games for 38.50 each with 5 USD gift card. Keep in mind that without GCU or visa checkout, there would be no gift card and the games alone would be 120 USD, meaning the end discount is no less than 35-36 percent. Not too shabby!
Again, this isn't just for Switch stuff, use this example with any 2 60 USD games.
Best Buy's site says
>Discounts not available on gift and prepaid card purchases
The way I see it, for a lot of us, THIS could end up being the Scenario Switch people go for.
Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Fire Emblem Warriors (REMEMBER, you can save on Pre-ORders for future games too; I already paid for Odyssey!) for 231 USD with 15 USD of Best Buy gift cards...
Which you could use towards eShop credit. Pretty fucking insane. Now, the next scenario I'm gonna show is one my roommate came up with.
That's true, which is why with the above scenario, you get 24 USD off your order INSTEAD of 25 because you added that 5 dollar gift card, but it is a minimal 1 dollar hit on the savings, and if you treat it as a "freebie" it really doesn't matter because it's better to be 1 USD under in savings, than being that much over 100 USD in your cart, because THAT would hurt savings maximization even more.
You COULD do 3 Amiibo, and 2 40 USD games. This would be perfect if you want to get Puyo Tetris and something else.
Oh, I see. You're saying that the discount can't apply to the gift card, but the gift card can put you over the threshold for the offer.
Are you sure that's how it works? My first impression was that the gift card would be ignored in the final total and wouldn't trigger the offer.
>REMEMBER, you can save on Pre-ORders for future games too
That just made Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition affordable.
Honestly, the main reason you want to take advantage of this isn't GCU stacks, it's hardware.
We can all agree Pro Controller Pricing is bullshit, but thing of this...
Pro Controller+Binding of Issac OR Puyo tetris w/GCU
70+32=102
102-25=77 USD...
At that rate, you could treat Puyo Tetris as a regular GCU 32 USD game, and the controller for 45 USD, which makes the controller a LOT more affordable. It's thanks to this and this alone that I am getting 2 pro controller at launch.
What I posted as 1st scenario describes exactly that. Including taxes, it was 82.02 USD, but I only paid 76.98 USD before taxes Yes I took a 1 dollar savings hit, but just like you just said, getting RIGHT at threshold and not going over too much is what the priority is.
As you can see, the 5 USD gift card DEFINITELY triggers the offer.
Can you post links to the gift card to top things off?
Also, I want to get a charging grip and a pro controller. But it's a cent short. What do?
Yeah it works great with pro controller + a game
Wait, so how do I get 2 controllers for 45 a piece?
bestbuy.com
I had to google it. The search box on the best buy site didn't give it to me.
I know reddit is usually shat upon here, but you can also find some useful stuff on r/gamedeals.
You can't. He's calculating what the perceived cost of the items would be after the GCU discount on the game and the $25 discount on the total purchase.
Is the controller not eligible for the GCU discount?
Thanks for posting link to the card. As for anything cheap if you are just a few cents short, i would search for the word "Case". At any given time, you'll find some shitty iPod touch case for like 49-99 cents. That should help right?
You don't, but like this guy said...
If you bundle with the game and treat it a s GCU on the game with no additional game stack, it essentially boils down to 45 bucks, which makes it immensely more affordable thanks to the stack.
And no, controllers can't be stacked with GCU, sorry.
But yeah, just the fact that you can get 6 60 USD games for 231 USD is fucking insane.
Any console predicts available anywhere?
Backstabbing Target already?
So how the hell does this work anyways? I've had a registered account on VISA Checkout for awhile, but after going through the damn log-in process via Best Buy, it ends up returning me to the final payment screen...with absolutely nothing reduced.
If I pre-order several games that are months apart, will I still see a bulk $75 charge on my next bill?
It's a flat $24-25 discount. You could probably buy an $800 refrigerator, but you would still only see $25 removed.
It claimed there is a limit per customer, yet the dumbasses on deal sites placed several different orders, thinking they won't get banned.
I"ve done 6 separate orders already this year. The code is applied automatically, and pilled as posted transaction. They can't do shit.
Well, no, no...
Try this, just to res things out.

go to cart, and click visa checkout.
What do you see now?
And no, I have no store loyalty, you go to where the deals are good. Fall tends to be target but right now, this is where it is at.
I've got a question for you. How did you feel about Black Friday 2016? It seemed like the prices continued to drop, until Christmas Day, when some games were at their lowest prices ever.
I felt it was a mixed bag. Other than the 99 USD N3DS Target deal with bonus off with redcard, the best deals were found at Target with stacks like almost a month ahead of time. I remember telling people just bite then and then with placeholders as well, simply because holiday return policies were already running, meaning if something better DID crop up, there was no risk as you could get a return/rebuy or a price adjustment afterwards.
I think a trend that will continue to happen is video deals peaking in fall at around October, but the real deals will still happen if you double or triple play. This best buy deal is truly good only if you intend to double up, but Target is nice because returns are prorated and you still keep the savings with your partial return and partial refund.
Regardless of what happens, I'll keep making these threads and making breakdowns for as long as people find them useful.
All I want is the hori LAN adapter. Where is it?
do you have a wii or wii u one?
i doubt it wouldn't work.
I think I saw it at Amazon, but it's not on Best Buy yet, sorry.
How many dicks do I have to suck to afford a Switch?
