This game is going to change MMOs forever, and no one is fucking talking about it.
This is going to be the most popular MMO since WoW, mark my fucking words. It will be hailed as the spiritual successor to Ultima Online, arguably the last truly great MMO.
I know you hear that every time there's a new MMO, but this time I honestly believe it's fucking true.
>Aging, Dying >Severe penalties for griefing >Player-run governments >Actually viable non-combat skills and paths >Player skill matters in things like combat >Non-Repeatable Quests >No World Map or Mini-Map in-game >Game-Enforced Player Contracts >Roughly $30 per 10 months to play using "Spark of Life" system (MUCH cheaper than $15 a month, right?)
Now before you get all up in arms about every game like this turning out to be a colossal disappointment, I completely understand your skepticism. Every "WoW killer" MMO that has come out has been a flop.
However, the math is why I have faith.
Even given the most cynical outlook, the kickstarter was a success. They raised $1,361,435. The $25 pledge, which ensures you'll be able to play the game for at least 10 months, was reached with 3000 backers. That's 3000 players for sure (unless they decide to waste their investment). Then you add up the other "levels" and you have about 1500 more people playing, again, for sure.
So that's 4500 players minumum, 10 months minimum. If nothing else, we have that for sure. Isn't that worth $30 to you?
So I can say that at least I'll have a true MMO experience like we used to have for 10 months. And the optimist that struggles within me believes that we'll be playing longer than that.
Personally I'm hype as fuck and anyone who claims to truly miss the golden days of MMOs but is overly cynical about this game isn't looking at the facts.
I honestly can't forsee any reason why this game wouldn't be anything other than what it promises to be, unless people still somehow manage to find a way to grief and subvert the game.
There's nothing wrong with kickstarter as a concept you fucking retard
Andrew Taylor
>I honestly can't forsee any reason why this game wouldn't be anything other than what it promises to be, unless people still somehow manage to find a way to grief and subvert the game.
Like every other game that's hyped: the development team contracting a "sudden" onset of incompetence.
Colton Watson
>laundry list of ideas MMORPG developers throw around for a game that'll quietly disappear from everyone's memories in 6-12 months
Seriously I've seen my fair share of MMOs with promising ideas that ended up just being vaporware and the developers broke up/were broken up because they were just blowing hot air up investor's asses.
Logan Collins
Is there a stat disparity between sexes?
Caleb Harris
Game looks cool, but you sound like a hardcore shill.
Elijah Long
I'm not a shill, just an overly optimistic fanboy who longs for the golden days of MMOs
Ethan Bell
>we're going to assume the players will play our mmo the way we envision and not act like fucking monkeys when will mmo devs learn?
Oliver Stewart
>the kickstarter was a success. They raised $1,361,435 An MMO needs 20X that, user. These games are expensive as fuck.
Charles Ortiz
>This game is going to change MMOs forever HAHAHAHAHAHA
Lucas Phillips
Act like a fucking monkey, get put into prison repeatedly, become banned from entering most cities, your skills atrophy, waste your spark of life, waste your $30 investment
gg griefers
Nolan Lopez
I don't know about you but one of the things about videogames that I dont really care to see is my character aging and dying
Austin Edwards
source? saucenao and tineye turned up nothing
Thomas Reed
Stop shilling op, you're samefag is showing
Ryder Morgan
>find out soul has a trait that lets me shoot fireballs >just want to play the game as a farming and house simulator >procedural quest generator keeps trying to make me go out and shoot fire balls at stuff >quit game because it keeps nagging me to do shit I don't want to do
Tyler Young
You got me interested OP. This sounds fucking dope. If I wasn't so busy I would absolutely delve into this
Oliver Scott
As I look at the game, it seems filled with cool concepts. My only problem with it is that it will either be ruined by ungoverned players, or will be so strictly watched by GMs that it won't be fun.
I used to play PW on Mount & Blade, and actually enjoyed playing the role of a peasant, or town guard, or autistic shit like that.
Joshua Sullivan
I'm not talking about the 1 off shitter who tries the game for a day and just attacks everyone on sight. I'm talking about the roving band of gank squads and min/maxers who will game the system and shit on everyone else.
Jackson Russell
MMOs are dying. Only WoW is good and that isn't saying much
Isaiah Roberts
wow i get to play real life online with no benefits and i have to pay, and then i die.
also there are contracts i have to follow.
.gay
Nicholas Martin
>no griefing
Fucking dropped.
Grayson Williams
There's nothing wrong with communism as a concept you fucking retard
Bentley Nguyen
So
How much does shilling for literally who game make you? Is it per word or per hour? Are you an employee or an intern/contractor?
Caleb Moore
>1 off shitter who tries the game for a day and just attacks everyone on sight
$30 to be a fucking retard for one day, seems like a hefty price.
Parker Lee
The game sounds cool and all but
>Aging, Dying
This shit here rubs my autismo in every wrong way
Caleb Morgan
WARNING! OMEGA BAIT
Colton Flores
This game is going to change crafting survival games forever, and no one's fucking talking about it.
You want to have a player run game like Eve, but don't want the full experience griefers and all? Sup Forums has trully been infiltrated by the neofag inbreds
Nicholas Young
I know right ? xD shill is a ebin meme :--DDDD I mean like, who comes up with this shit , alex jones? x-DDDDDD
Carson Mitchell
Didn't someone destroy EVE's central trading hub and completely obliterate the game's economy?
John Garcia
Thanks senpai. Need more orc women doujin would pay hundreds for futa orc on humans.
Kayden Diaz
>that slow, boring combat >those janky animations >the awkward camera cuts as they jump off the stairs as if to hide something even more janky
Yeah user looks great.
Brody Diaz
>implying I don't already know about that since you're so thirsty though I'll give you a hint, it's rwby.
Ayden Long
Damn, that combat looks horrible. That acrobatic bar leap was really gay. Also rapiers? Really?
Brayden Flores
>severe penalties for greifing
you fags are the biggest whiny ass crybabies if you think griefing is bad. I mean come the fuck on you have pvp and non-pvp servers is the biggest bunch of pussified shit ever
Every MMO should be like EVE where there are no "no pvp zones" or "safe spaces" for your whiny asses
Jaxson Nelson
Caspian is that you?
Joseph Long
In the age of common voip, it seems like these skills will be fundamentally useless affecting any actual factions.
Jacob Hall
Exactly, no one is gonna do anything with these "fake documents"
And I bet mods will ban users in game for making "scam contracts" too even though you fully read the contract and what it entailed but hit "accept" anyway
Aiden Edwards
How about no? In EVE if you are really bum bothered you can run away on the other side of the universe and start a new life, and that's just because the world is full of fucking nothing. Now take a look at what happen in a much smaller world like tibia, ever heard about the gank squads running around in some servers destroying the entire population to the point of nearly closing the thing because of underpopulation? Shit ain't profitable in the long run.
Eli Rogers
>Wanting to play a game that's literally just real life but in the middle-age, full with shitty boring ass job realism and having your character eventually fucking die forever
What's the point? I play MMO for theorycrafting and killing shit with friends, not to plow a field every day for 2 months until my character dies of the plague.
Zachary Ross
>In EVE if you are really bum bothered you can run away on the other side of the universe and start a new life, and that's just because the world is full of fucking nothing. Congrats you've never played EVE if you think this is how it works
>gank squads gitgud, stop carrying so much shit in your cargo you get ganked.
you're just a pussy and you probably hide on the pvp-free servers all day
Jace Adams
>Aging, Dying >Severe penalties for griefing >No World Map or Mini-Map in-game
Are these supposed to be good things?
Luis Watson
Gave me a good kek but I think you're oversimplifying, of course it'll be fun, and besides, people go apeshit for Rust and half the time in that game you're doing the same shit, just mindlessly gathering resources and hoping your base doesn't get btfo by griefers
Henry Hernandez
>literally mentions tibia oh boy, how do I know you're mexican
Austin Ward
The aging thing is fucking dumb, I agree.
Jaxon Roberts
I don't play eve but from what i've read you can pull this out while it's almost impossible on other games. How do you do a 30v1? 'Cause that's what happening when the nolifes camp every good spots and don't let anyone progress.
Never played tibia but i enjoy the drama around it.:^)
Nathan Evans
What's dumb about it? It takes almost a year to permanently die, and only less than that if you're a retard and are constantly dying, probably
Blake Fisher
>tfw I cant play EVE anymore because every time I join a corporation it immediately dies out or is inactive for weeks >new corps take one look at my employment history and nope the fuck away
Jackson Gray
I think the concept is interesting, but it's way too ambitious. I highly doubt that they could implement every thing they want successfully without it all suffering because the focus is so spread out, or that most of the features will just be shallow and basic.
Also, I don't want to be that guy who yells shill, but every fucking time I've seen this game mentioned, on any site, it always reads like it's from a script even though the person posting it just acts like they're some interested consumer.
Zachary Williams
>character starts reaching old age >kill yourself and just start a new character instead of playing with diminished stats >grind until your new character's stats are about where they were on your previous one It's like the dev team is nothing but idea guys.
Oliver Harris
If it makes you feel any better I also posted this topic on the >implying we can discuss video games group on normiebook and my personal profile is attached to it
Evan Butler
It's dumb because you lose the progress you've been working on for a whole year.
Jonathan Taylor
player run governments will be a travesty in this day and age. It'll just be a circe-jerk of all the top guilds who get in cuz they can shill each other into power, just like real life
William Richardson
>from what I've read that's all the fun there's to those games. They might appear "fun" for an outsider, but there's really not much real fun to be had in any of those. TESO much better game than either
There's a system where basically you pass on traits and skills to your "offspring" (your next character), so not exactly. The game doesn't seem to be about reaching max level in no time and then just grinding endlessly to go millimeters higher in power, like WoW
Lincoln Lee
>new corps take one look at my employment history and nope the fuck away Been to many different corps or are you running every kickstarter out of business?
Aiden Sanders
>This game is going to change MMOs forever Oh boy, just like every other MMO that has come out in the last 10 years!
Jacob Adams
Was talking about tibia not eve in this part, forgot to precise it.
Chase Roberts
>This game is going to change MMOs forever Do you know how many times we hear this shit? At least have the decency to change how you word your advertisements so they are fun to read. Everything is epic, genre-changing, etc. Stop falling for marketing buzzwords. You people don't even know your audience. You could replace the marketing buzzwords with random swears and it would be a better advertisement.
Julian Murphy
>no balls I just told you what the characters are from. If you can't find it after that then fuck off.
Oliver Turner
haha
Luis Anderson
>reads the first line >doesn't read the rest >knee jerk reaction
This game is not for you buddy
Xavier Martinez

For everyone calling me a shill or saying this is an advertisement, I also posted this on the normiebook Sup Forums group with my personal profile attached to it where you can clearly see that I'm a manchild NEET

Aiden Reyes
I've been to loads of different corps and I never stay for more than a month for the reasons I stated above.
I swear to god any corporation that I join immediately fails. Important players or CEO's quit, corps attempt to move into nullsec and fail miserably, they go to wormhole space and spend weeks doing absolutely nothing as they hemorrhage bored players. They merge into alliances and fade away into nothing as the good players are picked up by bigger corps.
I have so many corp emails from CEO's or bankrollers that say things like "Im quitting the game" or "I'm taking a break" that it's scary. I eventually gave up trying to play the game because I was convinced I was cursed.
Adam Edwards
god forbid people are courteous these days
Kayden Gomez
>Player-run governments >Actually viable non-combat skills and paths >Player skill matters in things like combat >Non-Repeatable Quests Wow, totally grounbreaking mechanics and non-vague statements, I'm hyped already!
Asher Cooper
you see, these things are the things you dream off when you picture your ideal mmo, but then you realise that when you throw the people into the game it just doesnt work out
Brody Johnson
No one's talking about it because it's already dead on arrival. You can't even play a dick-ass thief in the big city. >not war-time >Loot a place in the night >Get caught >Get sent to prison where you lose some of your life time (that is the $30 you payed) >Also lose some of your skills unlike if you were to stand around and do NOTHING for a similar time-frame, where you would just not improve >And the obvious "everyone knows you are a thief now, good luck doing anything normal, you gotta leave town" >Oh and if you do too much bad stuff, everyone automatically knows you're bad by just looking at you even if they've never met you, never heard your name, or anything >If you leave a Soul without a Spark of Life for too long, they lose some of the skills you built up over the previous life/lives
Also, >Using all those we's You are literally shilling this game. Go away.
Asher King
>no one talks about it
How will something no one will play change mmos forever?
Alexander Moore
God forbid newfags learn what sites to look for smut on.
Asher Garcia
How to make a good MMO features :
1) Make the focus of gear be on upgrade components, glyphs, runes, whatever you want to call it. Encourage extreme customization through those. Make these items available everywhere, make strong effects available from shitty low level monsters as well as high level ones. This makes grinding early shit rewarding because you can already start building towards end game. Good example of this : Ragnarok online and its card system
2) Actually have fucking damage attributes and resistances. For players to prepare for a given dungeon, get themselves very good anti cold gear for a cold based dungeon. Make certain classes better at dealing specific types of damage, making them very specialized. But don't make any class good at only one type of damage unless it's something like a priest that can still heal if holy damage isn't desired in the area.
3) Make the ability to kill a monster based on equipment, stats and skill alone. Almost no to little level influence. None of that retarded hit penalty for being too low level. If you pumped a lot of dex or focused on accuracy on your gear, you can be rewarded for it by killing higher level mobs that are more evasive.
4) Just fucking copy War of Emperiums from Ragnarok Online holy fuck why don't mmos do this.
5) Make characters blank states stats wise and force people to MANUALLY invest points every level. Don't make resetting too pants on retarded difficult as to not turn off people or force them to reroll.
6) Make crafting actually relevant. Not because the gear you can make better or worse, but because it's different. Weapons that are much more accurate than stuff you can find anywhere else, which has specific uses, weapons with elemental attributes, etc.
And more shit but character limit is too low.
And yes Ragnarok Online is a big influence on my opinion. Because despite the grindfest it was, it got a shit ton of things right. (and ruined them later)
