Nothing, unfortunately.
Nothing. The entire game is a straight path.
Beautiful graphics, good characters, good music, good battle mechanics.
Good one.
I might have been the worst final fantasy games I ever played. not a hardcore fan but FF12 is the best one I ever played and only started to play it last year after I left it for 4 years at 10hours.
now I'm at 70+h
My favourite FF game desu.
+gorgeous visuals
+amazing audio
+great story
+linear (if you're into linear)
+emotional
+great combat
+great cutscenes
Prove me wrong
Fang
you can basically say that about most games. nothing special or new.
Absolutely sagacious.
great story.... yea right
Uh, WHY is Linear a bad thing again?
FFX gets praises up Rikku's anal cavity all the way into Yuna's mouth and its as if not more linear than FFXIII. You buncha fuckin' maggots.
l know right!! l dont know why this sub has a hate boner for the best FF game xD
It gave us the Goddess
And for that, we must be eternally grateful
Lightning is a top tier waifu.
FF hasn't been good since 6 and that was like 20 years ago
...
>linearity is bad
>I want an empty world where there's nothing to do other then go to the select city you have to to advance the game
The music and aesthetics
Is the pc port of XIII-2 good?
combat, music, visuals.
It's not inherently bad, but I think 13 was kinda deceiving with it's seemingly expansive landscapes and the promise of huge things; huge structures, huge monsters...
Let's also not confuse narrative linearity with world linearity.
A linear plot is to be expected with FF, but compared to something like Xenoblade that was out around that time and was also linear in terms of narrative, Xenoblade very much allowed and rewarded exploration in a big time.
Xenoblade got rid of most quest indicators, awarded massive XP for discovering landmarks, and overall had big open-ish areas for you to wander around.
Of course that game has its problems, but I think that was the sort of thing people were expecting for FF13 when seeing the pre-release footage and concept of the game.
>gorgeous visuals
yes the backdrops that you cant access cause you are stuck on a straight line were very nice visually
>amazing audio
i cant remember a single goddamn song from it, i can still remember 3 songs from the ORIGINAL final fantasy.
>great story
>Machine man: and so i curse thee to be iciee so that you can go and defeat the falcie so that you can save that girl that became icy, then when you gain enough strength imma gonna have you come back and kill me so i can die and be reborn so i can die again!
>Lightning: i have a knife, want me to just knife you now?
>Machine man: no
>+emotional
youve got Hope- eternally crying over the fact that a guy eho tried to save his mother couldnt and in fact almost died himself; never mind that he doesnt know if he or his mother is dead when he starts plotting to kill him.
You got Cocaine loli
You got traitorous Australian women who never does anything but betray you and no one knows why shes still in the group
You got brooding Lightning who does nothing but brood
You got dumb jock
And afro black man that has the most emotional scene cause its found out he has a son and lost him.
That knee
>i cant remember a single goddamn song from it
You cannot be serious, if you can't even remember the battle theme you must not have played for more than one hour.
I took an arrow to the knee before you made that comment
Xd
Spoiler kys
oh i remember it, i meant the fact that none of the songs were catchy or memorable in any way. I fucking remember Green Greens from Kirbys Dreamland that was on the original fucking gameboy better than anything in the game
Not really, I had to stop playing after a few hours because it kept dropping down to 20fps even with my 6700k + 980ti and it did this weird thing where it went slow motion then sped up to catch up with where it should be. There is a patch to unlock the framerate from 30 to 60 but the voices were really out of sync for me so it was annoying.
It has....appeal

nothing
...
Fang
Other than that nothing
I would even pick her over Gladiolus in my party desu
Fang's design
I'm on 40% and i just can't stomach it. The only thing it's got going for it is good artistic direction minus the environment. The characters are all really annoying and unrelatable besides afro-man.
Gameplay is also really dull. Why was this popular again?
Plenty. Music, visuals, combat, lore.
It gets a lot of shit in the west because muh CYOA autism, and not bothering to understand the combat mechanics beyond inflicting Stagger.
Vanille
also Lumina, but thats much later.
...
Because of shit eaters like .
You have to be blind, deaf, and dumb to not realize the massive amount of problems this game has.
Idiots will literally always say the same things about why this game is "bad"
>Straight path hurr
>Lightning triggers my autism hurr
Yet, XV was an open world and just as empty and shit. XV was open and had literally 1 more town than XIII.
But what is the point of open exploration when there isn't shit to do, no characters, no towns or cities or atmosphere, no nothing?
XIII may have been linear but it had amazing music, scenery, battle, pretty much anything you want in an FF.
It has its weak points, but to answer "what went right", I'd say overall packaging and production. It just looks and sounds great and is a polished game, unlike XV
I mean, I'm sorry you have shit taste in music.
I really wonder what you consider a good FF soundtrack.
The fact that you had to list Kirby is pathetic.
Here is a timeless Final Fantasy song. Sorry your Metacritic autism won't let you enjoy it.
FF2 is actually the best Final Fantasy if you think about it
+gorgeous visuals (for the time)
+amazing audio
+great story
+very open (if you're into open)
+emotional
+great combat
+great cutscenes
Proove me wrong.
...
Here's another instant classic song from XIII
Remember opening the Title Menu and this song comes up? What an insanely beautiful title screen, and an incredible song, something new from the typical Crystal/FF main theme.
Compare it to the background track that played in the FFXV menu which is very forgettable.
...
...
>yes the backdrops that you cant access cause you are stuck on a straight line were very nice visually
Visuals are visuals whether they are platforms or not, user...
This is fucking Final Fantasy, not DKC: Tropical Freeze. Understand your genres before making a critique, yeah?
>amazing audio
Covered how stupid this is in the last couple posts. Here is a more memorable track than anything from XV, and that is a fact you can take home with you.
youtube.com
>great story
>you type up a "HURR LMAO" description
Not an argument, not even convincing at all. You can type up a hurrlmao description of any plot. At least the plot was contained and we got to see a variety of characters, unlike in XV.
The rest of your comments are all nitpicky things, which can be done for any FF game/any game in general
...
...
I might've bought Lightning's game if she had tits like those. I'm pretty sure she was a flat boy though considering how much gay french fashion designers liked her.
...
...
>great combat
More like stellar
...
...
>right
Gorgeous graphics and locations
Nice music
Interesting story and characters,
Combat was nice.
>wrong
Too long until you get full single team.
No backtracking.
Aside from Pulse not much to explore.
Everything about Eidolons(except visuals) was stupid.
Vanille>Lightning
...
...
Graphics, music, and a unique battle system.
It's not great, but there are some fun boss fights.
pic unrelated
...
>not vanille
It had to exist so I could play the vastly better sequel. So there's that.
Everything
I'm playing it now and it runs a lot rougher than FFXIII.
Granted I'm playing in 4k, but still, it shouldn't be this choppy. No crashes or anything though.
...
...
The graphics, music, and combat mechanics. That's about it!
...
The visual quality. Note, not art direction.
A single theme. Dust to Dust.
Deprotect, Deshell and Imperil.
Wladislaus.
Spawning wonderful sequels.
Absolutely everything else went wrong.
It's so frustrating to me that barely anyone played XIII-2 and LR because of how disappointed they were with XIII
I was talking with my co-worker who isn't even as harsh on XIII as others, but he wasn't into it enough to grab the sequels, and missed out on what I think becomes the greatest FF games
The original FF was better in every way.
>Simple story
>Memorable OST
>Fun bosses
>Great turn-based gameplay
>Lots of fun ways to customize characters
>Began the series
>Grinding was ez
>Levelling up was satisfying
>The upgrade that blew everybody's mind midway through the game
Prove me wrong
Graphics (which isn't very surprising when the levels are so small and simple, and there is no technical merit in having good backgrouns) and encounter design (sadly the combat system itself is awful, but the guy/s who designed the enemies did a pretty good job and should put in a nice position in SE).
Some faggots will say the art and OST are good too, but they are the same kind of tasteless morons who think FF VIII and X's art and OSTs are good too, so they should be ignored and educated.
The paradigm system was fucking ace, I want more of that
Enemy design was pretty great desu
Characters were okay
Eidolons were nifty
Music
Good music
Good visuals
Boss battles are some of the most epic
XV had dungeons and new enemies everywhere. It's the most busy ff open world yet.
I liked 13 more than 13-2. Never tried lr but the impression I've gotten isn't that it's better.
...
>gorgeous visuals
Pretty nice graphix true
>amazing story
Hahahaha
>linear
If you are into that go ahead, Ill buy CoD if I want a corridor shooter
>emotional
Just because a character cries in the game doesn't mean its emotional
>great combat
Braindead combat that the only thing that had going was making the camera move around to make it look like something barely interesting was going on
>great cutscenes
Ever since the Force Within movie SE can make pretty cutscenes. Pretty, not good.
...
...
>>Simple story
Not necessarily better.
>>Memorable OST
So do the newer ones.
>>Fun bosses
In what way?
>>Great turn-based gameplay
New=/=bad.
>>Lots of fun ways to customize characters
Like what?
>>Grinding was ez
but boring
>>Levelling up was satisfying
why is it no longer satisfying?
...
...
Masashi Hamauzu.
Not much else unfortunately.

going to sleep now

Have you tried pluging in a controller?
I'm not even memeing, but apparently that's a problem with the game.
There is a 50% discount on it on Steam.
Worth it? Is XIII-2 better or worse? What about Lightning Returns?
so thats why theres so much cyberpunk and FF threads today
Guys is Type-0 worth it? It's also 50% on steam.
I have heard complaints about Lightning being a bad and boring character.
Why? I've also heard some call her a Mary-Sue.
The problem is Toryama shove his waifu down everyone's throats.
3 fucking games, and the XIV cross-over was just too much.
So that's like 10 dollars? It's definitely worth it at that price.
yeah she's pretty boring.
>Braindead combat
Is this the only Final Fantasy you've played?
I'll probably get it. The combat seems like ff15 and I like the part where you're a class of youths.
