Stalker thread
I always get bored in the very first area (map) of the game and stop playing. I've done this maybe 10 times or so, so now when I want to give stalker a chance again, the beginning is fucking painful and I give up even faster
How do I get into this game? I played on master with no mods
Play it with mods, it's the only way. Seriously, the base game is garbage.
Just play Call of Chernobyl with weapon mods.
you can play shadow of chernobyl vanilla and have a wonderful, but the first area is always the most rough. especially the first few 'missions' until you get a shotgun or the smg (both of which are pretty bad).
unfortunately theres not much good equipment in the starting areas. i think theres a stalker suit in the starting villiage, but you need some roof hopping to get it. other than that, just power through the first area, even are after that can be pretty tedious but at least youll find some real guns. just remember to save every five seconds if youre new.
always use semi auto. never use pistols. always pack light. dont bother attacking dogs or boars unless they attack you. throwing bolts is a lot more useful then you realize. have a safe travel through the zone

Patches turned that Stalker suit into a normal combat suit but its still way better than all the starting gear

Follow these few basic steps
>cure adhd
>drop/sell useless shit and dont carry more than 2 different weapons so you can spribt a lot longer
>get energy drinks to refill stamina
>run like madman to do the first few missions during which you git gud and rek cheeki breekis with potato guns
>if you arent a complete nigger by the point you reach the end of the area you would be immersed enaugh to want to go and explore every corner of the maps and ocasionally find some cool shit, if not than try some mods
There are mods that turn the game into a sandbox freeroam game but i dont suggest that because the first game has a great plot and overall enjoyable main mission if thats what you can call it

this guy is 100% correct. energy drinks and various food are the only items really worth carrying, aside from health packs guns and ammo, obviously. the game picks up only after you get some real guns and face some real enemies
Get shotgun with slugs, I guess. The worst part about early game (apart from all guns sucking dick) is that you don't have that one artifact that allows you to sprint almost infinitely. But you'll get it soon enough.
Oh, and btw you don't get a decent gun until not one, but two locations. Have fun with that!

Install Misery and spend 30 in game hours scrounging up enough rubles to pay for gun oil to kill two bandits and then run out of ammunition thus requiring you to scrounge for 30 more hours. It's really fun I swear

Sniper start with slugs is a good start in misery for the double barreled buff the Sniper gets.
Only bad thing there is guns, otherwise it's pretty good.
Misery was pretty fun but sone of the enemies were way too op, still fun to figure out a way to kill them tho, also never finished it, was never a fan of the CoP maps protag and missions
Even with recon you still kill almost anything instantly.
