I just beat Resident Evil on normal with Jill for the first time. Should I play it again on hard with Chris or start playing Resident Evil 0?

Play 2

no, go play RE2

play RE0 after you play RE1,RE2,RE3,CV,RE4

Which version of RE2 should I emulate? Or should I just play the PC port?

Play on hard with Chris, then go to RE2. Play in the order of release.

this.
Also play RE1 as chris, it's seriously a whole new experience.

Not sure about that one but go Leon A Claire B

japanese PC port is probably the best. Not sure if there is an english patch. but ps1 or gamecube emulation is also fine

No go for the canon Claire A Leon B

I emulated the PS1 version because I couldn't get DC or GC emulators working with it

RE0 will feel like a huge let down after Remake. It looks the same due to the engine but everything else is just varying degrees of worse.

Also, listen to this guy: .
Although playing 4 first isn't mandatory and is probably just going to feel weird.

Speaking as someone who got the platinum trophy for 0 this morning I can tell you that maybe you shouldn't play it at all. Chris on hard is the way to go.

Claire A Leon B is cannon

and it's also kind of funny to watch everyone treat Leon like a sidekick

This
I 100% in a week, but then it took me 6 months just to go through RE0 to get ever achievement.
That game is fucking cancer

Okay OP here so here's my plan to play the series:

>RE1: Chris Hard
>RE2 (Emulate GC version w/ Dolphin)
>RE3 (Emulate GC version w/ Dolphin)
>RE CODE: Veronica X (Emulate GC version w/ Dolphin)
>RE0? (PC)
>RE4 (PC)
>RE5 (PC)
>RE6 (PC)
>RE7 (PC)

Can anyone tell me if the spin offs are worth playing? I'm looking at these:

>Outbreak and Outbreak: File 2 (Is it worth it if the online is dead?)
>Gaiden
>Survivor, Survivor 2, or Dead Aim
>Wii Chronicles series

OP, please listen to this guy: Don't play 0 right after REmake, for the love of god.

Revelations is worth playing if you enjoy the RE4-5-6 gameplay. The Revelations games also aren't actually spin-offs, they're mainline games in all but name. I'm pretty sure Rev1 goes between RE5 and 6, whilst Rev2 goes between 6 and 7.
I prefer Rev1 to 2, but your mileage may vary.

i don't really see a reason to play Chris RN. Otherwise your list is fine other than 0 because it fucking sucks and Code Veronica because Steve is the worst character of all time.
Don't know about the outbreak singleplayer, gaiden isn't really worth it and ain't canon. You can play Darkside Chronicles, i liked it.

keep us updated m8, oh, and watch the Degeneration movie after RE4 and the Damnation movie after RE5

Code Veronica is a perfectly viable RE game, Steve isn't enough to ruin it. It's still a better game than 0 if nothing else.

I replayed REmake with Chris and the went to 0. I ususally finish any game no matter if it's good or bad, but 0 was one of the few games I just didn't finish. It was such a letdown that I haven't even touched another classic RE game since, 0 just killed any interest I might have had.

Rebecca is still best girl though, but she did look off in 0.

Thanks, I'm gonna add the Revelations series to my list.

Is it worth playing the original RE1 with Chris before playing RE2 if I've only played the REmake? The only differences I'm aware of other than the graphics is the lack of Lisa and Crimson Heads. I think it might help me transition from the REmake to the older games.

Revelations is before 5. Since it ends with Chris and Jill sandwich going to hunt down Spencer in the Lost in Nightmares mansion.

Play RE0 so afterwards you can run through REmake as Chris to wash the awful taste of 0 out of your mouth

...

chronologically REV2 is before RE6. Set in 2011. but it was launched between 6 and 7, in 2015

Move back a step. Rev1 is before 5 and Rev2 is before 6.

Wait so should I play the Rev series in release order or chronological order?

Man Resident Evil 0 is such shit. Its probably like my 4th least favorite in the series with Gaiden, Umbrella Corps, and Operation Raccoon City being worse.

I'm still mad.

And I even bought it a second time when it was re-released like "maybe I just didn't give it enough of a chance" but it was actually worse than I remembered.

And then Capcom decided we need every game to have a co op character granted it wasn't an issue in the later games but why would you look at Zero and take anything from it.

It was like somebody bought a do it yourself Resident Evil kit off the shelf and didn't read the fucking directions.

OP please don't listen to anybody who says to leave 0 for later. play it ASAP.
if anything, run with Chris first since the REmake's still fresh in your mind, but take 0 right after it.
then you play the others.

>Gamecube emulation is fine**

Some of the background music is fucked up especially the alarm at the end but as far as memulation goes its "ok".

They're side stories, play them whenever. They barely tie into the mainline.

...

Considering how much times has passed since RE1, that guy could be Chris' son for all we know.

>RCS was fired
>new Chris looks like Aaron Rodgers from the Packers
This is terrible

Normally I'd say release order, but in this case it honestly doesn't matter.

Just what's the comfy RE thread for the night? This one or the other one?

This is a good order, just throw in Rev in between 5 and 6, and Rev2 in between 6 and 7. Also, the Lost in Nightmare DLC for 5 is worth playing as well.

...

>And I even bought it a second time when it was re-released like "maybe I just didn't give it enough of a chance" but it was actually worse than I remembered.

Ha, that's actually what happened to me a little while back. I had actually dropped 0 a decade ago on GC, and I really couldn't remember why. I thought it looked like it had everything it needed to be a great RE game... until I played the remaster.

I don't want to touch it ever again. Fuck speed running it too, though I'd still fuck the medical degree out of Rebecca.

Hey OP, as you go into RE2 i'll let you know that Claire is the best girl in the franchise and Leon is a fag but he's kinda cool i guess

I was considering buying 0 the other night. It looks a lot like REmake and I love that game.

Why is it so horrible?

Do you think Capcom's general idea is to take the mainline in a bit of a new direction and have the Revelations games continuing the RE4 style?

Mainline is up for 2 more first-person games now, it's just how it goes

>1, 2, 3: fixed camera, tank controls

>4, 5, 6: over-the-shoulder-shootbangs

>7, 8, 9: P.T. with guns

>It looks a lot like REmake and I love that game

Oh ho, don't make that mistake. I made that mistake.

It's just a really (REALLY) annoying ass game to play. It's not a hard game or anything, just fucking stupid and annoying at every turn.

Every complaint "sounds fine, no big deal" until they all work together and create an unpleasant experience.

Dropping items anywhere sounds great, until you have to go back and get them, and you accidentally drop them off the stage, etc.

Two characters double the inventory right? Lots of items take up 2 spaces so you just have more micromanagement and lots of inventory swapping.

REmakes puzzles are perfect, maybe too easy if its important to you, but I wouldn't change anything.

0's puzzles are horrible, and there are so many, you have two inventories full of puzzle items that you don't know what the fuck all because you didn't examine this area in a corner you had no fucking reason too.

The leech enemy is an asshole that can only be fought with molotovs luckily you'll miss everytime so don't bother with him.

Fuckin hate this game.

N64 version has most features.
GC and PSN versions are fine

rev 1 and 2 are worth it
survivor is so bad its good, and also short

also idk if dolphin works well, but there's literally no diference between ps1 and GC re2 and re3, so maybe just emulate that

Also RE1 avoid the dualshock version, the music is changed and it sucks

That does sound tedious.

Will I get any enjoyment out of it just playing on Normal? I don't mind backtracking that much, though excessive inventory management sounds like boring crap.

I just want another game like REmake, it's so comfy to play.

Noob question:
can i run dolphin on windows 10?

>Will I get any enjoyment out of it just playing on Normal?

It doesn't matter, I played it on normal.

No.

resident evil 0 gets shitted on a lot.
Just remember you will need the hookshot something like 2 or 3 times after the train, much later in the game, and you will be fine. You can discard it after you get on the cable car.
there, 90% of the tediousness everyone has with re0 avoided

OP I'm incredibly biased since Outbreak is an important emotional touchstone in my life. Can't think of this game without thinking of my first job, first car, etc. First console game I ever played online too.

At least check out the first Outbreak and give it a shot. Its flawed for sure (less than Outbreak 2) but you might have fun. You can play single player with AI that are surprisingly competent.

Regarding the online, that was shut down in 2008. But there is a fan server you can connect to, but the performance is awful, but not necessarily WORSE than the official servers. You can track who is playing at their website. But again, just the single player "campaign" is fine.

Yeah I mean by all means play it. You can enjoy it if you try, if only because games like that aren't made anymore. But I don't like how people pair them up like 0 is even in the same league as Remake.

I actually much prefer Leon A and Claire B, because I like how the Ada and Annette scenario plays out. Also Claire and Sherry getting chased by Mr. X.

Final Barry chapter in RER2,
>this shitty mine part
>later have to deal with that shitty mansion gauntlet with fucking glasps

Rebecca has some shitty AI. If you play as Billy then she is going to stand there and point her gun at things and if you are lucky she might MAYBE shoot them once or twice. You also have to awkwardly move her around too otherwise she will get herself killed because, again, she can't defend herself for shit. So, just play as her then. Great, now when you enter rooms she will be in the front with Billy right behind her. I swear 0 has more instances of entering narrow hallways with your back completely against a wall and nowhere to run. Rebecca can't afford to take the hit, because she is weak as shit and dies in 2 or 3 bites.

Having to carry her with you through that game is somehow an even worse escort mission than Ashley in RE4. At least you could tell Ashley to hide in a box and stay the fuck out of danger. Best solution for Beccers is to step back out and leave her in a safe room while Billy reenters and actually gets shit done.

>children will never know the joy of playing Resident Evil games as they come out.
>They will never play the original on their Playstation and CRT TV.
>They will never wait anxiously for RE2 reading all the previews in the gaming magazines.
>They will never play Code: Veronica on their Dreamcast
>They will never play RE4 and RE0 on their Gamecube.

Should I play RE1 before playing REmake?

>dreamcast
>gamecube
>not Code: Veronica and RE4 on PS2
>who the fuck cares about 0 it's shit

Not all of us had a crappy childhood user, I feel sorry for you.

>playing Rev2 having a good time
>suddenly her jeans get wet

yes I am running it on win 10.

thanks for the info, i'm definitely interested and plan on playing it. just didnt want to get everything setup only to find that it's unplayable without other people.

They are so different it doesn't really matter.

A couple segments were designed to subvert your expectations so if you want to be le #pranked play the first game first.

>yfw her clothes get dirty

I've been meaning to get into this series and I'm finally taking the plunge. I've just finished 1 and have 2, 3, and 4 lined up. Would getting the Dreamcast Kanzenban version of Code Veronica be good to get or should I go with the PS3 version instead? I can read Japanese so that wouldn't be a problem.

As for the rest, are the PS4 versions the best available?

The CVX has more content than the dreamcast one, so go with that.
CVX on ps3 is in english if you get it from the store, but yeah play that version.
Also yes the ps4 versions are the best ones, although 5,6 are not that diferent.
rev1 and 2 are fun, for modern RE
Also id say give remake and 0 a whirl. And survivor 1 is ironically good.

All other spinoff entries are not worth it. Dont believe some fucktard talking about dead aim, it fucking sucks

I'm playing CV for the first time and I'm at the part right after you first play as Steve with the two submachine guns.

For some reason i just don't feel like i can go on.

>Dont believe some fucktard talking about dead aim, it fucking sucks

Fuck you, bitch. Dead Aim is actually a good game.

its so fucking terrible
>those animations
>those character models
>that tranny villain
>that awful voice acting
>those subtitles that dont match
>that music that doest let you hear the dialogue
>those washed out graphics

only cool thing was the design of the tentacle tyrant boss

From what I'm seeing the "Complete" version on the Dreamcast has the same amount of content as the other rereleases so I guess the only comparison would be the visuals. They apparently changed up the graphics a fair bit and I'm not sure which I prefer.

You forgot this sex bomb.

>discount ada
shit taste

i would advise the ps3 version

t. resifag

I enjoy 0. It is rough the first time through though, mainly due to the hookshot being needed 4 times throughout the game combined with no boxes, and backtracking if you send the wrong person through a certain hole.

So you don't get caught backtracking too much here's some hints if you want them.
When you can lower the observatory and leave the Training Facility, get the hookshot.
Rebecca can pick up chemicals with her personal item.
On the 3rd hookshot hole (in the library below the church), send Rebecca or hope to god you have a combined GREEN and BLUE chemical in your inventory so you don't have to backtrack solo an incredibly long way

These are mainly the real backtracking issues on the first run, which a new player would have absolutely no idea about.

General hints include (not including the best place to dump items, or what items to dump. Figure that out on your own):
Billy is a tank. He can survive waaaaaaaay more hits than Rebecca, I swear he has 2.5x her HP
Rebecca and Billy have different AI. Rebecca will only fire when you do, while Billy will go to town on any or all enemies in a room
The GREEN chemical will heal you (and only heal you) if you're in Danger status
The BLUE chemical will cure poison iirc

At least she doesn't actually cuck you, like Ada does every time.
And fuck you.

>That wonderful feeling when I was a child reading Playstation magazine waiting for Resident Evil 2, and was pondering mail ordering a Japanese copy of Biohazard 2 just to play it already.
I forget the magazines name, I think it may have been EGM or something, but in the back they had a nice little "now in Japan" order section, you could get Wonderswan games, Dragon Ball Z toys and posters. I ordered a frame print from them.

>That wonderful feeling when you managed to buy RE2 the day it released from K-Mart.
>That double amazing feeling when you realize you essentially bought 4+ games with it.
Leon A,B Claire A,B, Hunk, Tofu.

>Just replayed RE3 for the first time in years today, running past every monster like a boss.
>Beat it in about 2 hours 30 minutes.

lol does william have a tail in that?

>butterface as a waifu

dont forget EX Battle

re3 was my first resi, so good, so nice nostalgia feel every time i play it. Still discovering things to this day:
>you can mix gunpowder with regular grenades to get special grenades without the reloading tool.
I just discovered that 2 weeks ago

birkin isnt on that picture

think that's the gross baby that comes out of chief irons

>AI that are surprisingly competent

>Last level of the first game
>Have to create a vaccine
>Found everything but one ingredient
>Infection counter is above the 90% mark
>Think it's the end
>Based roaming David went solo to the wasp nest and retrieved the final ingredient
>Synthesize the vaccine
>Counter at 96%
>Take vaccine
>Tell David to take the vaccine
>HE FUCKING DIES BEFORE TAKING IT

The AI was indeed competent.

EX battle was the Dual Shock version only.

When I get around to 5 and 6, I'm not sure whether I'll have someone to play them with. Are they made worse being played in single player over co-op in any significant way?

AI kinda sucks, but you can enjoy it still i guess

RE5 is definitely worse in single player. That game is entirely designed around Co-op, and has dogshit partner AI. Yet it's a fantastic Co-op game through and through. It's still very much playable in single player, but it can be frustrating at times.

RE6 takes a cop out with the Co-op as the AI partner in invincible, has infinite ammo, and all the guns you obtain get cloned for player 2. This makes single player much less of a chore, but the co-op elements are much worse than RE5 because of it.

What's the best monster design in RE?

Guess I'll try and find someone for 5 Co-op. As for 6,

>the AI partner in invincible, has infinite ammo, and all the guns you obtain get cloned for player 2

That just sounds fucking silly. Could you conceivably just run around avoiding enemies while the AI just kills everything?

Finally getting RE2 on the 64 was one of the best moments of my childhood.

Yes

Yes they are even worse. And im saying this as a diehard advocate for single player games

You can, but I'm fairly certain the AI in 6 only does like 20% damage unless you get partner skills. Yes RE6 has a skill system.

You posted it, all the different forms really did it for me as he gradually gets more fucked up as you fight him

>That just sounds fucking silly

It's way better than a shithead that shoots walls and then ask you to give her more bullets.

>Could you conceivably just run around avoiding enemies while the AI just kills everything?

Not really. The AI will kill some enemies, but you'll still do all the work.

Absolutely play 5 in coop. 6 is fine with both, but coop is better ( especially since characters have different unique weapons, like Piers and his .50cal sniper )

Birkin is cool but nothing beats nemesis

Can't wait to see this fucker in REmake 2
