Solid level design

It's a very safe Painkiller clone

Soundtrack
Opening Scene

>level design
probably the game's worst imperfection

Explain.

Speed

Good story mode.

>walk a bit
>lockdown engaged
>repeat

>solid

No hitscan enemies.

>rip and tear
>rip and tear
>rip and tear
>oh and here's a cool codex with lots of information
>rip and tear

It did exactly what I wanted out of a DOOM sequel.

That's not an issue with the level design, that's an issue with the enemy encounter design. You're not a fan of the Serious Sam\Painkiller style, which is fine, but the actual level layouts are good, for the most part: Starting with The Foundry, almost all the UAC level had a pretty open ended layout, with lots of secrets, and nooks 'n crannies to hop around while fighting enemies during said locked down encounters.

Arena sequences where you can't leave until the last demon is dead fucked the game to shit, it completely broke the flow.

seeIt's perfectly reasonable to not enjoy that, but it's a different flaw than the level design itself.

I bought this game the week it came out and completely forgot it existed until now.

Every time I hear a song that would be perfect for osu! and there's not a map for it I die a little inside. I just want to hit circles to this song.

It's not that I don't enjoy that, I liked it in Prince of Persia and God of War. Just don't want it in Doom.

And why no mods ? Mods could've fixed every flaw, increased replayability by orders of magnitude and made the game even better. Just like the previous games.

>And why no mods ?
It's the biggest problem with the game, I have no defense for this. I'm no programmer, but I don't exactly understand why.

Not the multiplayer never found an online match and quit. Guess I won't get those achievements.

>God-tier soundtrack
>A+ visual design that is consistent with theme
>Rewards aggressive play - the lower your health, the more aggressive you have to be
>appropriate length
>varied enemies that require different strategy to kill at harder difficulty settings

Ain't gonna lie, I thought this game was going to turn out shit, but was surprised to find its a really good game.

>And why no mods?
Denuvo

>Appropriate length

You're right about everything else. You forgot

>RIP AND TEARING

Denuvo is actually gone now

Anita said mean things about it on twitter, so people felt a need to buy it to spite her

Nothings, it's shit modern garbage for people who never liked the originals

>le rip and tear xDDD

I love the original, I like 2016

Super shotgun is WAY too powerful.

It's not too powerful, it's that the upgrades make it too fast. The upgrade where you get two shots breaks the game completely.

>And why no mods ?
There were mod tools for RAGE. And here's the list of mods people did for it :
-

Rage was also not well received, opposed to Doom 2016.

carmack didnt spearhead development

It was also hard as fuck to mod anything on it. Sure, the low popularity didn't help, but still.

They shold put it on gog then.

Does anybody else like the multiplayer? It's not the most skillbased or hardcore of shooters but fuck is it comfy. I really enjoy goin' fast and direct hittin' niggas with rockets.

I got a lot of Metroid Prime vibes out of the game.

I can't be the only one.

Metroid Prime, Painkiller, and Revengeance were all very clear influences on the game.
