This is the very definition of a corporate game, created out of "market research", "brand expantion" and directed by MS higher-up suits looking for a promotion while forcing whichever poor developer had to touch this game into implementing shit like the P2W aspect this game has, as well as not giving them time to fix bugs.

Why the fuck you care about post-Bungie Halo I have no clue. It's such an abvious cash-grab franchise by that point that I can't imagine ANYONE being interested by it, what's the appeal? So first impressions, infantry rushing looks pretty strong. 3/4 games I played with the legendary AI the AI rushed and beat my ass with infantry within 10 minutes, both as UNSC and Covenant.

Speaking as someone whose first ever Microsoft console is an Xbox One and hasn't played Haah Waaw 1, this game looks neat because A) the Halo-verse seems like it would lend itself well to a RTS, and 2) it's being developed by Creative Assembly who are veterans in the genre so at the very least we know it will be competently designed.

This is why I canceled my pre-order.

I had the ultimate edition preordered on the Windows store but cancelled the preorder because I wanted the physical edition, little did I know the fucking thing was cancelled for the US.

On the bright side I got a code for Halo Wars 1 even though I cancelled my pre-order. Now I can play that to get refreshed on the story then get the normal version of Halo Wars 2 at some point. Maybe when it goes on sale.

It's more complex than Halo Wars 1. There are four resources now: supplies, energy, leader points, and base tech level. Leaders have a whole ability tree with both passive abilities and stuff like the the old mac blast -- the AI girl can speed up the production of vehicles and give scorpions extra shields and damage.

I don't know how I feel about this stuff yet. It's different.
