Pretty much this, I never had a SNES, so the first time I played it was on the zSNES around 2001/2002, I started it because the intro looked so freaking cool a la 50's Alien Invasion B Movie, I never had a 64 of my own so it took me a while to make a connection with Smash Brothers.
It took me a while to finish it, the game wouldn't let me pass, so I had to find some other ROMs until one worked. I've never liked JRPGs, I hate waiting between turns but this one hooked me.
Now with the internet so widespread everyone and their dog has played it, I'm not sure why it attracts hipsters and I bet they have never finished it, but whatever, I learnt to deal with those faggots.
