I was an Xboxfag until their customer service broke me. I paid for a year and got an invalid code. I got so much bullshit from an indian on the tech support line about lying that I just decided to switch sides. God. So many people I know were disappointed by Killzone. It was only myself and one other person that played 2 (three was garbage, beyond trash tier) and even we had difficulty sometimes thanks to the god awful controls. GG are a bad developer.

It was a late bloomer, it became popular when less expensive models and more exclusives came out. Free online helped, even if PSN is unreliable.

I wish the alt-fires from Killzone 1 stuck around, that shotgun on the Helghast rifle was damn satisfying.

Hardware problems with X360 did a lot to harm its reputation, and PS3 had more exclusives.

I would think the red ring of death and how angry customers would post videos of it on youtube (which was exploding at the time) directly contributed to how ps3 managed to catch up on sales vs the xbox 360.

Free online kept it above 360 for me but half assed backwards compatibility until they threw their hands up and said nobody can ever have it again, getting stuck with a sixaxis then having to buy the Dualshock 3, tiny usb cord with the system having to be on to charge the controller and install times were shit to deal with.

PS4 and Xboxone is just two 1:1 consoles now with Free online being taken off the table.
