tried to give it a chance THREE separate times, still fucking hated it
RE6 is in the same boat

y-yeah, thanks

I might be the biggest fan boy of Turok on here. I remember liking it but if I replayed it now I'd probably realize it sucks.

I TRIED SO HARD AND GOT SO FAR

...

...

It wasn't that bad. But it wasn't Turok either, and it did indeed kill the franchise.
This on the other hand is unequivocally the worst thing made by humans.

Other M

The re-release wasnt TOO awful. I had a little fun with it. Nothing like the actual DMC games though.

>has actual effort and voicework put into it
>interesting concept, especially for a series that was very anal-retentive about its immersion
>crew members that died were replaced with new crew that had their own story arcs while the previous member's obviously stops short

>all wasted on a game that makes you wonder if the player character has parkinsons

>Other M was 7 years ago
Where did the time go?

I wanted it to be good so bad

can't believe nobody said thi4f yet

It was average and utterly forgettable as fuck.
Wasn't that bad.

As far as I remember, the series was more or less presumed dead before that game was announced, so it didn't really change anything.

I completely forgot about it for a long time even after loving Fable II, that's how bland it is.

You'd think Bethesda could have taken cues from Fable III considering one of the most common complaints is "why the fuck did you give the dumbass protagonist a proper voice?"

That said, and while the game is so fucking tedius I only played through it once, I actually quite liked Walter. He was a cool guy, whose death actually felt like it had some meaning, especially since he's trying to help you kill him in the end.

it was a linear boring mess with nothing new to offer. no exploration, no interesting enemy design, no interesting locations, just jungle and military bases. it sucked.

True. I also remember being decieved because I recall the very start of the game enticing me. Jungles, dinosaurs and poor mooks getting slaughtered by you and said dinosaurs. The fun lasted like 15 minutes.

Thief died with looking glass studios.

oh yeah, and it had QTEs, takedown kills, weapon limits, and regen health. basically everything that ruined FPS was shoved into it. at least the turok 2 remaster is due soon.

How about a double whammy from the same studio?

>Duke Nukem Forever
>Aliens Colonial Marines
>Duke Nukem 3D 20th Anniversary killed off any chance of a revival after Forever by demonstrating the lack of care or competence Randy has for the franchise

It was ass and you all know it

>better than game that preceded it
>better than game succeded it
>series continues and lives on to this day
??

>shittiest 5 song radio of any fallout
>enemies almost never interact with eachother outside of scripted events
3 is a masterpiece in comparison

When did 3 have enemies interact with each other outside of scripted events?

best fps fall out

Nice b8 m8

If it wasn't named Turok it'd be an okay game.

I think it's main problem isn't that it's bad. It's that it's so insanely average I think most people can't even remember it.

Bioshock Infinite.

/Thread

dude, did you only played this Turok, or did you played the first ones too?

The sad thing is that playing it now is actually quite refreshing. It doesn't really hold your hand so feels more like an old FPS. But sadly nothing like Turok of old/

GTA 5:Online being released on PC has pretty much killed it. It's just modders now, all running around at rank 8000 in god mode.

I wouldn't be surprised if RDR2:Online is console only, same with GTA6.

>touchstone

Wait Disney produced it?

>Aliens Colonial Marines
>Killed the franchise

Alien Isolation came out after CM though, so it didn't kill the Alien videogame franchise.

MGSV

nonono, MG: Survival will kill the franchise

like a dagger to the heart

the turok IP is tied up between a bunch of different companies. IIRC the video game publishing rights were owned by touchstone/disney after acclaim went under, but that changed again later and is now owned by dreamworks, and the comic rights are owned by someone else entirely. it's a mess.

It's not part of the series but this game is single-handedly responsible for the PS4 never getting a SOCOM game.

I played a fair portion of this. Had more in common with Sparkster than it did Rocket Knight Adventures. Wasn't a terrible game, but it was rather weak and cheaply made.

I got a download code for this game when I purchased my Vita. It was the PS+ bundle So glad I only spent about 5 minutes with it. It felt like a bad mobile game.

...

Socom 4 was dog shit anyway. Would love a MAG 2 though.

>that feel when get unreasonably nostalgic when I hear SOCOM 3/Fireteam Bravo's theme
>those memories are literally gone forever because the servers are kill

...

I remember when this first came out, I played the demo over and over again and I loved it.
Slaying dinos with mah knife, crouching in the bush, multiplayer with dinosaurs????!!!!! Holy dick I was hooked.
But my parents were going through a real puritan christian phase and wouldn't let me buy it so I never played the full game until years later.
When I actually did play it I was left with a sense of despair because it was probably the most boring FPS I had ever experienced and I couldn't understand why I enjoyed it so much as a kid so I was left questioning everything I ever thought was good in my life.

When did Venom turn into a two-headed, bow-legged monster?

I know that pain user

youtu.be/dADSQbNMIW4

A better highnote than FO4 could ever hope to be.

Christ what a mess.

They tried again with (a little) more success in Siege, but for Christ's sake just start a new IP if you're gonna completely change the game.

>that feel when did the secret hot dog collecting mission twice in Fireteam Bravo 2 by just doing the first mission over and over until I got it, then repeating the process another time
>doing it twice gave enough money to buy the full Pirate and Ninja outfits for multiplayer
>all my friends were jelly and had no idea about the hot dog mission

fuck I wanna go back

Whichever WWE game got rid of story creator, fuck those lazy shits at Yukes.

Man, sucks that a new game now would either be first-person shit, or too cinematic with the overall story. I mean, I wouldn't mind the plot being a bit more engaging than the text dumps you got most of the time, but all the same, I wouldn't want the squad just being COD jugheads with no personalities.

I kinda enjoyed it back in the day
what's so awful about it?

...

rainbow six isn't dead you idiot, and at least siege is a far better game than the garbage that was the vegas games

This post was ass and you all know it

>fuck you, give us money for nothing

the main difference is not being about to set up your teams and planning. it wasn't fun to play at all for me

>rainbow six isn't dead you idiot
if you say so

BG was over as a series long before this awful xpac and isometric RPGs are on the rise again.

How many more replies until someone posts a picture of zero dawn or zelda and the console war begins again.

man it does some things right but is so heavily outweighed by everything else

Socom 2 came out when I was 13. Played it all the way up till 2010 when there was no more than 250 people on it. To this day I've never seen a gaming community like Socoms. I made some lifelong friends on that game that I still talk to on an almost daily basis.

Here. It's the only (you) you'll get from me.

If it had even half the content of TS3 it would be great but the thing is so god damn barren.

Please newfags. I know you want to fit in.
But do not
>/thread
Yourself, it's poor manners

I liked it.

same, I made friends in the PSP ones though. there was even a guy who I played with regularly who I didn't find out until later would actually drive to a place where he could leech wifi to play with us in his car.

then a couple years later I ran into one of them in CoD 4 online on 360

Wow, guess that's enough to revive the series. Bet it'll get a new installment any day now

Or the stuff of Sims 2. That game was pretty much perfect, with the only main advantage I recall 3 having being how you could see the rest of the families from one home, and instantly switch between them instead of having to load out of the "level".

Shame that EA has to make even the basic shit DLC nowadays. First 2 games at least had enough in them that the expansions were pretty much just icing on an already enjoyable cake.

I'm native American and grew up on a reservation playing turok with my cousins, I enjoyed the last one. The multiplayer was insane on console because everyone was fast as fuck so you just went around knifing people.

That said, I don't think it was a strong turok game, though I don't see how you can bring something like it back, it's a relic of a simpler time, like duke nukem.

>you loved being a god with omnipotent abilities?
>good news, we neutered all that shit, have fun with a shallow RTS

I ran into a good number of old Socom players when MAG came out. I've been playing a lot of Siege and I'll recognize a name here and there.

And to think it took so long to come. Too bad there won't ever be another sequel discounting fan games. SJW's won't let the duke be duke and 3d realms and gearbox proved that they didnt know what the fuck to do with him in the post-half life generation.

Rip in pepperoni.

>that feel when that trailer
youtube.com/watch?v=p35Kg-1JnKw

:(

Well, at least DOOM and the Shadow Warrior remakes were both pretty awesome. Too bad Duke ain't up there with em.

Fuck me stupid on this one. The gba game was better. Not a good idea to switch genres and have such a fleshed out world for no reason. It's was interesting but killed the franchise!

Siege is great. Lockdown really is the worst it ever got.

Kek, nice troll!

The mediocrity of this thing killed itself, Gradius, and Parodius.

heres (you) for the daily bait

this right here and new thief of course fucking greedy japs i swear

>Lockdown really is the worst it ever got.
>Not console 3
>not console Lockdown
>not Critical Hour
>not both Vegas

a game i wouldve actually enjoyed playing if it didnt have kinect controls.

ah, I see
I do remember it being linear as hell

Not that bad of a game but...
>EA rushes the game out
>bosses and entire areas are missing
>the game just abruptly ends
>all we get years later is a short animation from McGee funded through Kickstarter
>its shit
>my waifu is trapped in a spiral of madness forever
>they never found McGee's sister

:v)

How? I mean that legitimently. Everything about it from gameplay to humor was an obvious and utter step down from the first two. Hell even the characters lacked the MINOR depth the games already portrayed in 90% of their characters. And that's absurd.

The army shit and all that was fine, honestly. When you brought your towering creature to fuck up the enemies wall, and they flung their men from catapaults, it felt like you were watching a movie siege.

The real problem was that even defending yourself counted as an "evil" act but the good karma option was utterly nonsensical and didn't really feel satisfying.

Christ that SOCOM 2 American boxart was trash.

>killed the franchise
>game that preceded it sold millions of copies

huh... really makes you think..

Oh my. I was hyped hard for this game, considering how I loved the first one, and only recently had moved my parents to allow me to get us internet. So yeah, my first hype was crushed perfectly, and I never finished that crap of a game.

That wasn't ever going to be a franchise.

Team ICO had disbanded anyway. There was no going forward from this in the first place.

Tierkreis and Woven Web of a Century were nails in the coffin, but the series never recovered from 4.

Who is Nightdive owned by? I thought they were their own company.

They are the ones doing a PC version of Turok 2 right now.

4 wasn't that bad. The boat was god awful, though, but you ended up getting a fast travel anyway. Which took me 2 fucking playthroughs to realise.
