Heya guys, day Sup Forums was able to take advantage of this, so I'd thought I'd repost for the nights. Some copy pasta, but some new scenarios as well! Don't be afraid to ask for deal suggestions and please share your own. Let's go!
Nintendo Switch is almost here, and with it comes the return of the Visa checkout deal. As I mentioned in the thread with a similar deal early last month, it basically boils down to a 25 off sale if you play your cards right, which states with GCU's 20 percent off new titles. While you can use this on anything in the store, I am going to showcase some breakdowns with switch games and accessories, showing you the math and how to maximize. Most everything will be rounded to nearest dollar (not including taxes), to make it more simple than last time. Let's do this.
First, you need to register for Visa checkout at checkout.visa.com. Now, we can begin. Now, this is assuming you have GCU. If you don't know what us, it's the 15 dollar a year membership similar to gamester s that best buy offers, except instead of used games, its 20 percent off new games and amigo. with GCU in mind, breakdown goes like this.
60 USD games are 48 USD
50 USD games are 40 USD
30 USD games are 24 USD
20 USD games are 16 USD
So yeah, it's pretty beefy.
The tricky part is maximizing this. to get optimal savings, you need to be as close to 100 USD without going under. with 2 60 USD games, the best way to do it is with a 5 gift card. Due to the threshold, this will only "cost" you loss of savings of 1 dollar. Here is how the final breakdown with this scenario looks like.
Not including any taxes, 2 60 USD games and a 5 USD gift card ends up being 101 bucks, minus 24 USD discount, which ends up being 77 bucks, meaning you could think of this as 2 games for 38.50 each with 5 USD gift card. Keep in mind that without GCU or visa checkout, there would be no gift card and the games alone would be 120 USD, meaning the end discount is no less than 35-36 percent. Not a bad deal in the least!
Again, this isn't just for Switch stuff, use this example with any 2 60 USD games.

Taking notes
Elijah Rodriguez
So basically, Best Buy is doing a deal where you get 5% off of a $100 order if you use Visa Checkout, and it stacks with the GCU discounts?
Dominic Cooper
The way I see it, for a lot of us, THIS could end up being the Scenario Switch people go for.
Zelda, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Fire Emblem Warriors (REMEMBER, you can save on Pre-ORders for future games too; I already paid for Odyssey!) for 231 USD with 15 USD of Best Buy gift cards...
Which you could use towards eShop credit. Pretty fucking insane. Now, the next scenario I'm gonna show is one my roommate came up with. No, it's a it is a lot better than that. Including GCU as far as games go, we are talking 35-36 percent off.
Jeremiah Mitchell
You COULD do 3 Amiibo, and 2 40 USD games. This would be perfect if you want to get Puyo Tetris and something else. Maybe Binding of Issac?
Isaiah Green
I don't get it. You say that you get a giftcard, but this promotion site I see says just $25 off of an order of $100+
How many dicks do I have to suck to afford all of this?
Michael Robinson
>not going full PS4 in 2017 and buying the Switch in 2018 or later
Dylan Reyes
No... I said you can THINK of it as that. That's how we sometimes do deal breakdowns, it's not just money spent, it's value, minimum thresholds, and maximizing savings.
What I said in the 2 60 USD games scenario is that for 77 bucks, we can THINK of the final deal as being 38.50 USD a game with a free 5 USD gift card when buying 2, and that in order to make this particular scenario, we are doing a double play.
Now pay attention to this mindset, we're gonna try to make the Pro Controller affordable...
David Green
Because I want it now!
Now now now now now now
Parker Young
We can all agree that the 80 USD Joy-Con set is expensive, but in line with prior pricing; after all, a Wii Remote Plus is 40 USD, and you are getting pretty much 2 advanced successors of it in one box. 70 USD for a Pro Controller though? It's absolute horseshoe no matter how you wanna slice it.
Trying doing this
Pro Controller for 70 USD, plus 40 USD game (which after GCU is 32 USD) is 102 USD, MINUS your 25 USD visa checkout is 77 bucks.
Think of it as a GCU 40 USD game with no additional discount, and you end up with a 32 USD game and a Pro controller that cost you only 45 USD.
45 USD for a Pro Controller is affordable and fair. If you do anything out of this deal, use it to get a fairly priced pro-controller Switch-fans.
Jaxon Foster
Alright, well I have GCU and didn't know about the Visa checkout deal. Thanks very much.
Daniel Wood
Okay, I am stupid and new to this.
HOW do I get a Pro Controller for 45 bucks? I want 2, so do I just add 2 to my cart?
Here is the 5 USD gift card for anyone doing 2 60 USD games.
Nolan Richardson
I agree with the 2018 or later part. Wait until you get 3-5 must-haves, and make you sure they actually come out so there's no MML3 scenario. Then again I'm just some dumb faggot with an opinion in a thread about deals so
Chase Reed
How does this compare to Amazon Prime discounts?
Alexander Carter
No no, your opinion is valuable. I was tempted to do some pre-orders for other games, but decided against it. Other than Odyssey, the most far out thing I ordered was Splatoon, which is sometime in summer. Visa Checkout is good until the 22ndish though, so if you have anything you want coming in Q1/Q2 that you were gonna get anyways, you can still stand to benefit from this. Remember, it's everything, we're just focusing on Switch Scenarios because people want to get the most bang for their buck at launch.
Benjamin Brooks
>tripfag >writes nothing like anyone on Sup Forums Shill get the fuck out. Nobody cares about your physical stores anymore
Alexander Miller
Regular prime discount is basically JUST GCU savings. This goes further, plus with very few exception, everything I ordered will be able to be picked up at midnight at launch day, so after picking u my switch at FUCKING GAMESTOP, all I have to do is go to the best buy next to it to pick up my cheap games.
No waiting for shipping, and you get to hang out for 3-4 hours, chilling with some people.
Robert Baker
>2017 >not knowing who Mona is
Seriously, have you been on Sup Forums for any decent amount of time in the past 10 years?
Austin Cruz
>Implying shitposters know anything 99% of these people came after TORtanic.
Gabriel Jenkins
What's Best Buy's + Visa's angle here considering you can use any credit card with Checkout and still get the discount. Are they just collecting your info to sell to the next highest bidder?
If I can sign up and use my non-Visa credit card and buy Gravity Rush 2 + Nioh + Berserk and still get $25 off, that's pretty tempting.
Joshua Evans
Well, no you don't want to do that...
If you add 2 pro controllers, that's 140 USD, minus 25 USD which is 115 USD or 57.50 USD each.
I mean, it's some savings, but you could do much better doing 2 separate orders, each with a different 40 USD game. After all, a 45 USD controller is a lot more appealing than a 57.50 USD controller.
Ayden Flores
>implying I care about tripfags Been here for almost 10 years, fuckhead
Christian Ross
They basically want to eventually replace PayPal, right now they are just replacing the simple, single sign-on checkout portion, hence visa CHECKOUT.
You don't NEED a visa card though, even a MasterCard debit card will work. The angle is just increasing marketshare for their next big thing, so might as well take advantage of the promos while they are doing them.
Andrew Morris
For some reason I am able to place multiple orders of $100+ and still get the Visa Checkout discount. The fine print on the promo page says you can only use the discount once.
Jayden Gomez
THat's the best part!
I've made 6 separate orders so far. HEre's the deal, they WANT you to use Visa Checkout, and it is automatically applied, you are not going out of your way. They can't ban or penalize you for something THEY are applying.
So jump in, while the jumping is good. For those following me over the past 5 years, this is the equivalent to 2012's Target coupon fishing.
Brayden Brooks
Why are there never any good deals in Canada.
Jose Hill
Your PM is a cuck, that's why. :P
Carson Bailey
Do you have a fired south of the border that could aide you in exchange for Kinder Eggs or something?
Ayden Thomas
Do you know if you order a bunch of games released at different times at once, will they charge you for all of them when the first game comes out?
Nicholas Peterson
>Sup Forumsidya I've never seen shilling so obvious before
Alexander Torres
Is it possible to add something to an existing order? Already have a pro controller pre ordered and I'd like to add BoTW to it for the visa discount without cancelling and redoing the whole thing.
Cooper Howard
So if I were to buy the Switch + Pro Controller + Zelda, how much would it cost using this deal?
Oliver Taylor
Great question! Hasn't been addressed yet, but I found out the answer. First, you get a pending transaction for the ENTIRETY of the order, that pending transaction goes away, and get replaced by a posted transaction of the stuff that's available NOW; the rest gets posted later, when its imminent to be picked up or be shipped.
So if you have the option, go credit and not debit for obvious reasons...
Tyler Allen
Well, the console itself can't be bought from Best Buy right now, but if you just buy the controller and zelda, it would be about $105 without Gamer's Club Unlocked, and about $92 with it.
Connor Thomas
I decided to go to my local best buy last week That's when I found out they closed back in October I drive past there almost every day and somehow I didn't notice
Dominic Sanchez
>Titanfall 2 was only $20 with GCU at BB today >still having too much fun with Gravity Rush 2 and picked up The Last Guardian when it dropped to $40, afraid physical copies would dry up >For Honor, Horizon, Nioh, RE7, Zelda, NieR, Persona 5, MK8D, and ARMS all coming up
Too many games, bros. Too little time.
Nathaniel Roberts
>before I knew it, time was the limiting factor, not money
Lucas Morales
D'aw she's so cute I'll buy her
Levi Miller
Nintendo games don't usually drop in price, other platforms do. I'd say focus on buying Nintendo stuff first.
Nathaniel Hughes
If you REALLY wanted to do it that way and are not willing to deviate, thesis how I personally would do it...
1. I would line up and get the witch early at Target with a red card, so instead of 300 USD, it's 285 USD.
2. With GCU stack Zelda and pro controller, it goes like this.
70 for controller, plus 48 for zelda is 118. 118 minus 25 for visa checkout is 93.
TOTALS:
Console: 285 USD Zelda: 48 USD Controller: 45 USD (so if you consider game only GCU discount with no additional savings, same as 40 USD game scenario, great to know)
Total price for your custom zelda pro bundle: 378 USD
In other words, you could consider the hardware full price, and an 8 USD copy of Breath of the wild. fucking steal man.
DO IT!
Brandon Wilson
That and they NEVER get 10 USD GCU pre-order coupons like the non-Nintendo stuff gets.
Ryan Gutierrez
Wait, why is the switch 285 at Target?
Alexander Price
I work at best buy PLEASE i never want to see that fucking yellow sign outside of work i come to Sup Forums to ESCAPE THIS HELL and here it is dragging me back to hell PLEASE DELETE THIS
Nicholas Richardson
Target Red Card, credit or debit mind you, gets you 5 percent off anything in the store minus prepaid currency. so 5 percent of 300 is 15, hence 285 USD for the console. At this stage, this late in the game, Target is the best and cheapest option for the console itself.
Dominic Roberts
I think you're forgetting tax, though.
Grayson Diaz
>Wait until you get 3-5 must-haves Breath of the Wild, Disgaea 5, Puyo Puyo Tetris, and Fast RMX all come out within the first month.
Jordan Jackson
Because it varies, you'll have to calculate it yourself. Here in my parts, the console after taxes is 321 USD.
Ouch is right, but i know for a fact a lot of other people have it worse.
hey, more incentive to prince the initial price down though right?
John Nelson
Yo what store
Ryder Torres
10% tax here, it definitely hurts.
Grayson Gutierrez
I don't wanna pick on you, but WHY DO PEOPLE FORGET SNIPPERCLIPS?!?!?!?!?!?!
Lewd of the year. :P
James Lee
>live in Canada >Switch is $399.99 >13% tax
Alexander Myers
...
Henry Turner
beg your PM to raise minimum wage. it's working here in libtard california
Cooper Robinson
Fuck yeah! I can't wait for this shit. You guys taking the day off to go to the midnight?
Mason Jackson
I still haven't even received word of a midnight release.
I also don't have a job right now, so every day is a day off.
Luke Jackson
>offer ends on 2/22 >shit ton of games in March and April >won't have any money until after the 22nd
Here's hoping they bring it back in time for Persona 5 and MK8D at least.
James Rodriguez
I won't say for a variety of reasons but did you do those CRWs yet?
This is where you can find which store near you will do a midnight release so you can order to the right store.
Caleb Sullivan
I'm still pissed at bestbuy because they claim they price match newegg but then refuse to pricematch any newegg promo codes....you know, the only way newegg ever actually puts things on sale.
Camden Walker
They only do an authorization charge for preorders, but don't actually charge until its ready to ship. Use a credit card and you'll be fine.
Robert Brown
They never officially did promo-code matches to begin with, it was entirely YMMV manager descretion.
Cameron Perez
I'm freelance, so I have off when I say I do as long as i get work done
>tfw having trouble getting hired in order to afford a PS4 PRO and various PS titles, a possible new pc since mine is just a shitty store bought one similar to school pcs Bookmarking thread in archive, going to bed but while these deals work yearlong with other products like PC parts and what not
Jacob Gutierrez
GCU is $30 tho
Jaxon Miller
>tfw having trouble getting hired Why are you not getting hired user?
Jonathan Anderson
And it lasts 2 years, and pays for itself with just 3 60 USD games purchased in 2 years time.
Your point being?
Jacob Sanchez
I'm going to the US 2 weeks from now and want to buy a ps4 slim there. I don't like any of the bundles so I just want the cheaper version, bundled or not.
Help me senpai.
Jack Fisher
Shame as a BBY employee I don't get a discount on a Switch.
Hunter Lopez
IF you have someone willing to have something shipped to their home that you can visit, here's your best deal.
with promo code, it's 212.50 USD for the uncharted slim bundle.
Michael Moore
I'm getting lots of money from my tax returns, but I just don't know when. How long does it take when you're gonna have it directly deposited to your bank account? How long do you guys think Pro Controller pre-orders will stay up? Also, what other launch games are coming to Switch? I'm already getting a Collector's Edition of Zelda and my Switch from GameStop, so I need to think of a game that could go with this deal.
James Wright
well, newegg got my $30 for FFXV and Best Buy got nothing
Lucas Bennett
I do my tax returns with H&R block. I get my federal refund usually within 1-2 weeks. State refund takes longer, but not by much.
Owen Edwards
how desperate does someone have to be that they'd opt out of free returns to save $0.40?
Go to that site, enter info EXACTLY, and you will find out exactly when you are getting your moolah.
I really can't say ho long pro controllers will stay up, but they've been up again on best buy for a few days at least.
As far as other launch games, I actually used these promos to get 1 2 Switch. Admit it guys, it looks great, it's just not 50 USD great. For you, why not just get a pro controller, and a pluto tetris or splatoon or mario kart pre-order?
Isaac Gutierrez
Pro Controller pre-orders will probably stay up. They've been up for a week or two on GS and Best Buy and haven't sold out yet. Of all the physical Switch games at launch besides Zelda I'd say Isaac and Bomberman are the only ones worth looking into. Though there's been some retailer issues with Isaac and it may not be out until the 17th.
Sebastian Young
The hotel actually holds packages for some time free of charges, so I'll be using that. Thanks.
i still don't quite fully get their deal. It's like, legitimate sleaze, if that makes any sense...
Christian Lewis
>want to get GCU for physical releases >GCU 2 year+BotW come out to $77 only >don't want any other games or peripherals what do. i want to take advantage of the visa deal but i can't come up with anything else to buy.
Why not double up with a friend? That's how we split up some of our orders, just to make the numbers right barely over the 100 USD mark each order.
Kayden Martinez
I still don't understand the need for that thing. If you are gonna add any 30 dollar accessory, it should be they con charger that charges 4 of them at once. If battery lasts at least 10 hours, just connect them to the console when you are done; you'll never NEED the charging grip.
Or get a pro controller for cheap.
Sebastian Morgan
>If battery lasts at least 10 hours It's 20 hours.
Alexander White
What is this "buy" you speak of?
Julian Perez
Exactly! why would you pay 30 bucks for a grip you already have just to charge as you play; it's a non-issue as the controllers charge as you sleep, just dock them to the console.
The overpriced pro controller at least is a fucking controller, 30 bucks for the chagrinning grip is not necessary.
Sebastian Myers
bump
Henry Hill
I don't get it. What do you mean by gift card?
Christian Rivera
Appreciate the bump, but Mona's gotta hit the hay. Keep posting deals, helping with maths, and I hope this information and breakdowns came in handy for some of you. Remember, user's sled pro bundle is pretty awesome, so check it out.
Night.
Asher Watson
I thought this was for Best Buy?
Jace Anderson
You can't even GET. switch from BB if you wanted to, your only choice is camping at toys r us or target, and target is cheaper. With target and Best Buy combined, you can score a sweet bundle.
Matthew Richardson
I don't care about the Switch until at least part way into 2018 though since there are no games worth mentioning yet that even have titles.
Lincoln Morales
Nice, how'd you find this? Any deals on PS4 Pro? I'm looking for something < $340 (Cyber Monday price, but I missed it).
Levi Green
You need to spend at least $100 to get $25 off. If you add two $48 games to your cart that only gives you $96 so you don't get the $25 discount. To get above $100, just add a $5 gift card to your cart. Now your total is $101 and you get the discount.
It's unusual that gift cards count towards the total. I wonder if you can just buy a $100 gift card and immediately get $25 off?
Carter Richardson
Planning to go to a midnight release at a local Best Buy, first time doing this sort of thing how should I actually go about it? Show up 3-4 hours early and just wait? Do they ticket it or is it just going to be a line.
