Remember when Super Mario Galaxy 2 came with a DVD explaining how to do things such as moving and jumping? What was the reaction to this like? Don't tell me people defended it.

MatthewMatosis ranted for 15 minutes about it.

No, because I didn't get one.

Literally the first time I'm hearing about this.

I didn't know that
I pirated it when it came out :3

>Don't tell me people defended it.
What's there to defend? If you don't want to watch it then don't watch it.

Never heard about it. Is it an EU thing?

This.

Miyamoto et Al are moronic hacks who think that the most basic of video game conventions are holy grails of their own personal ingenuity and because of this massive over-valuation the only way they can maintain their own egos is to treat these mediocre achievements as worthy of constant hand-holding and explanation. If they weren't coasting on such utterly simplistic accomplishments they wouldn't feel the need to pad their resume in the form of an explanation of how to use the revolutionary jump button.

Mine didn't.

Is this an American thing?

This
I bought the game physical and don't remember this at all.

It's an EU thing

I've never heard about this. Is there a YouTube video of it?

i didnt even know it did

I think I actually have that somewhere.

It stung a little that you could t even play it in the Wii

ESRB rating looks completely different and far better.

Mega64 did a video about the topic

thats kinda cute desu, seems like it would help the five year olds playing vidja for the first time

So is an instruction manual okay but an instructional video not okay

i don't think anybody cared enough to "defend" or "attack" it

oh boy i cant wait till some switch game comes with instructions to go to a webpage for something

Wait a minute. You're right, that's an Australian rating. I'm Australian and my copy didn't come with that.

I guess someone forgot to put the disc in the case for me.

>IOWNDI

The smart thing about it is that it makes an ingame tutorial unnecessary while being far more in depth than such a tutorial could ever be
The dumb things about it are that you can't play DVDs on a Wii without homebrew and that it's a fucking DVD instead of a printed instruction booklet or a manual you can access in the game.

Without any fact checking I can also tell you its inclusion did not impact sales in any way, people who are averse to playing games with 3D movement did in fact not flock to stores to buy SMG2.

Maybe they only gave it to people who they thought needed it, see (OP)

>Nintendo, with all of their intelligence, released a "How To Play Super Mario Galaxy 2" with the game, for a console that didn't support DVD movies until homebrew.

I'm in awe.

That DVD is fucking necessary though. Have you ever seen a middle aged normie try to play a 3D game?
