Very different scope, SoT will be a co-op kinda open world experience with exploration and looting, Blackwake is a 54 player multiplayer shooter. Blackwake releases on Steam in about a week and will cost 20 dollars, while SoT is quite far away and probably a full price release.

But yea, there is more than just muskets, stuff like revolver pistols, 7 barreled guns, duckfoot pistols, mortar launchers, tomahawks. It doesn't take itself to serious.

captains can color and name their ship and the voice acting is pretty silly.
The joy comes from a fully manned ship working together to sink all your enemies though.
Blackwake is already fun, I hope rare can pack enough conent into SoT to keep it interresting.
