He gets flat at some points, but to me that was less about self inserting an more about him being broken, also i kinda saw his "Protect others to the point of suicide" tendencies as getting somewhat influenced by Avalon when "rebuilt" after the fire, especially in regards to Saber, much like his origin was changed, but that is just my own thoughts and undoubtedly disproven by that Hack Nasu somewhere.

And i kinda like HF Shirou because that is where he finally becomes his own person, he throws away Saber, his fathers ideals, his own life, but it is not until then he truly does what Emiya Shirou wants.

Even if it is for WORST GIRL and show of that he got shit taste it is good arc.

I've looked through the anime F/N, the prequel, glossed over UBW, some wiki pages and a few Sup Forumsutist threads about how he's the best thing ever and I still don't get what they're yapping on about or why they warrant fucking dozens of sequels and spinoff with the same fucking waifu Saber over and over.

Because he isn't his dad and the anime adaption leave out a ton of shit due not having his internal monologues and thoughts of situations as well as only showing part of his character due not having two other routes to play off.

Fate is more marketable, just plop in legendary heroes and let the autism spill about power levels while making some of them girls.

And really, do you really want Tsukihime to make a comeback only to be twisted to something like Twilight because that is the profitable way to do Vampire stories now?

IMO, the two compliment each other very well. People say that Shirou's character arc spanned the whole 3 routes, but I'd like to think Zero is part of that "EMIYA" character arc as well.

I remember back when the Fate Zero became overwhelmingly popular. It inspired people to play the game afterwards to continue the story. Back then the Fate and Type-Moon threads were great. Then UBW happened in October 2014 and this big war between FSN and FZ fanboys erupted. FGO followed afterwards. Things have never been the same since.

Back in 2012, TypeMoon revealed clips of the new FSN openings for the rerelease, everyone was hyped and excited for another adaption that continues the story. People were speculating how they would adapt it too. Also the controversial Tsukihime redesigns.

Nah, what i mean is that the Fate Plotbase of "Legendary Heroes fighting for a Wish" is a incredibly easy to build around formula as compared to Tsukihimes with entirely original characters, so writers are basically lining up to make their own Grail Wars with their own favourite heroes and their own TWEESTS, thats why it gets more fancontent and spinoffs.

Just see how many fucking Fate/whatever quest threads there have been made on /tg/, it is a easy formula, like making a Sonic Fan Character.

Back then some folk considered FZ to be 'far superior' to the old FSN anime and blamed it on DEEN when that's just FSN.

When some heard news that another FSN anime from the FZ team was in production their exceptions were very high. Maybe they didn't the high school hijinks. Maybe they didn't like the incredibly likeable characters. Maybe they didn't know that FSN has 3 routes and like 40 endings. UBW primarily focuses on Shirou and Archer and maybe they wanted another Fate anime or HF instead?

Thing is, HF doesn't work without UBW and the old UBW movie doesn't tell the story properly because it is the action scenes stitched together so they had to do it again.
