Path Of Exile if you like action games, but thats not really an MMO in the common MMO context. I just have a hard time not recommending it since it is the most "free" free to play game out there.

But if you're going more WoWish MMO, Old Republic is (unironically) probably the best non Korean F2P one available. Never thought I'd say that considering how it's launch went. Its totally a WoW rip off, and can be played totally solo until end content. Its not bad if you're looking for some turn your brain off grind.

There are no good F2P mmos. Old Republic rapes free players with limitations IIRC. WoW and FFXIV are the only MMOs worth trying and they're not very good. The genre is dead as fuck.

If you have Warcraft 3 there is around six million Korean and Chinese maps that are MMOs without all that annoying plot or shitty quests
Just pure grind for six million levels with 3% drop chance on bosses

the thing about free to play online games is that they die after 1~3 months from release/open beta, so it's pointless to recommend games that have already been out for a while

look for MMOs that are yet to be released instead (and since their gameplay is always bad in comparison to normal games usually the waiting and speculation is more fun than actually playing them anyway)

Star Trek Online is pretty gud for a F2P MMORPG.

Not every healer is overgeared, if thats the case if the tank pulls too much too fast the healer can go OOM, and thus everyone is dead, and WAY more time is wasted then just pulling a bit slower.

It's true that F2P MMOs die fast these days, but it wasn't always like that. Once MOBAs became popular that brand of brain dead zombies wasn't around to fill up F2P MMOs.

Healing is simple though and most games design it to not run out of mana if played right.

The worst case is the healer won't have time to help dps and have to focus on healing.

MOBAs require far more brain processing than any themepark MMO.

ive spent a lot of time playing both tanks and healers mostly healers
i know mana can be a issue but most of the time all you have to do is press your buttons and everything will be ok

While you are right, its taking a few things for granted.
Thats all assuming that the tank is geared to the expected point to have enough damage midigation, that DPS is all geared enough to down things in the minnimum time frame, and the healer has large enough heals+mana pool to sustan and the tank+DPS dosn't do stupid things to take more damage then needed.

Assuming everyone is geared to the minnimum spec that the area is balanced for and people don't fuck up, you can usually chain pull in most MMOs anymore, which if you're in a GOOD group can be fun.

But often, tanks will """"""""tank"""""""" shit with without facing it and most DPS barely know how to press buttons to do their optimal damage, Thus fucking everything up and needing to either take it slower then they could be going or die.

I like playing healer truth be told, but I've mostly stopped healing because there are so many awful tanks out there that I had more fun being a good tank then a good healer.

I liked healing in revelation online a lot as spiritshaper, it's rather simple and everything is aoe, but you throw dolphins and turn into a fox, shit is fun for a while. The other "healer" necromancer is sort of fun too, it's a hybrid with light and shadow attacks, but they forcefully gimped him to be subpar so he can never be a main healer just a buffbot with some damage, still somewhat enjoyable regardless of the numerical limitations.

Because "free" and "quality" are mutually exclusive. You can't expect the best when no money is being given for it; the more skilled people will simply be paid to work elsewhere. They have to eat too, after all, and they're not going to starve just so you can get the best free service you can find.

Wildstar has fun mechanics but ded as fuck and tries too hard to be "awesome"
Path of Exile is all around great but more of a F2P diablo clone than a typical mmorpg
Dungeons and Dragons Online is dated but still genuinely a blast if you play with a few friends (More so than most mmos)
Defiance is essentially F2P borderlands with a more realistic look
The Old Republic is a by the numbers wow clone right down to the class abilities but it's better than any of those Korean wow clones by a large margin
PSO2 is great but requires a little setup to play
