It's better than 2

It's better than 2

2 has both Hekesville and Pahra Lao so no.
But the stone tablet challenges in 2 are fucking awful.

>VITA version
What did you expect? The sequel is exclusive to a home console with different controls.

I meant the remaster but only had this pic

Jira Pahra Lao isnt nearly as good as heksville and GR2s heksville feels tacked on

Why is remastered so fucking hard to find?

Its on psn store m8

Scalpers

Physical copies I mean

Hell no. I played through the remaster before starting 2, and I more or less fucking hated the second two thirds. There were so many shit parts of massive battles with enemies shooting you from offscreen, and that fall with Raven was about 2 hours too long.
The parts where Dusty ate poison forcing you to suffer through platforming with physics that are garbage at best didn't help either.

I was just rushing through it waiting for it to end. 2 looks, feels and plays better in literally every way.

not if you live in Europe

Imagine you're Sony and you see the Vita sales numbers, now remaster a game with good word of mouth for a console with 4-6x the base. Also consider Tearaway Unfolded did shit numbers and was equally if not more lauded on the Vita. Also also consider you just spent a bunch of money on an actual sequel you're trying to sell more of.

Game has it in stock

2 barely has any real villains and the ones that are there don't do much. Gravity Rush 1 had Raven and Alias be legit threats to Kat. GR2 doesn't have any of that since most of the opposition is just political people and vague things like the literal embodiment of despair.

Gravity Rush 1 had way better rift planes.

Gems in GR1 are easier to identify from a distance compared to the ones in 2.

Having a smaller story focus on Kats rise to being the hero of heksville makes it more focused unlike alot of 2.

30fps with drops

Stasis isn't broken

Leveling up HP and Gravity meter > It leveling with missions

Nothing in 2 was as good as when Kat went down the pillar

Eh, I like Hekseville more but GR2 has far more meat on its bones. More side content, larger worlds to dick around in, more combat styles, and not everything can be solved with vanilla gravity kicks (though stasis could very well be the new gravity kick I suppose). I do think it's more tutorial heavy and the weird emphasis on stealth sections is puzzling but even so I think it edges the first game out and I very much enjoyed the first.

>when Kat went down the pillar

Playing this while high in bed with earphones was some real shit

>inb4 dudee

I personally don't care much about story and hated the pillar. How is stasis broken? I barely use it, so I haven't thought about it, but I did notice the stuff floating around you could easily get stuck in stuff.

WEED

I loved both for different reasons, but i put way way more time into GR2, flying around all the cities is way more fun and the camera is a great addition

Just import it, Chinese and Euro versions are in English

>GR1 is super cheap and easy to find in Europe
>GR2 is super expensive and hard to find in Europe
I don't understand how.

>GR2 is super expensive and hard to find in Europe

Not him but you aren't using stasis in 2? Why? Stasis is goddamn AMAZING in 2. It's a shitwrecker.

Exactly what said

Stasis is amazing in 2. It basically is the equivalent of Gravity Kicks of gravity rush 1 in terms of effectiveness.
There's always items to pick up

you don't stop when activating it

there's versions of it that lock in on enemies

There's a version that makes a stunlock

you can activate it while shifting

there's no real gravity gauge cost

i love the unnerving vibe the games give when you go away from the cities. The world pillar and the planes of GR2 give me an eldritch feel, which gets crazy with the boss of part 3 in GR2.

Also those floating teeth around the pillar, what are those from

That's tough. GR was a fresh new IP, with gyro and touch controls, on a handheld. It did a lot of real neat things, had a lot of surprises. GR2 didn't have as much of that, but it had its own surprises and built up and expanded a lot of what GR established.

It's really tough to choose.

You are now aware that the director of Gravity Rush created both Silent Hill and Siren.

>fucking awful

Overstatement

They're a bit boring compared to the GR1 rifts but they're still fun enough and beautifully exotic.

>Leveling up HP and Gravity meter > It leveling with missions
I disagree. Now you can focus on leveling the fun stuff that change your skills instead of dumping stats to have you just stay alive or in the air longer. Personal preference of course.

Maybe it could be more fun to have made the health/power boosts a collectible during missions/other gameplay though instead of having it be automatic

>GR1 shows spine-like structures on the way down
>GR2 has floating teeth near the top

I bet it's the dreamer.

I prefer the ability to level it up for stuff like challenge runs of the game

This area reminded me of Bloodborne a bit.

Ah. Good point there.

60 FPS in the remaster > 30 in the sequel

Other than that, 2 did most everything better.

It's basically the perfect sequel from a design standpoint.

GR1 had tooth like rocks near the bottom as well so you're wrong and dumb

No you, fag

Cecie is cute. CUTE!

Fucks like you propagating weed culture are human scum, all of you. I don't fucking care how minor an endorsement you think it is, you gain absolutely no benefit from smoking weed and no one fucking cares that you do it. Have fun with your future psychosis and schizophrenia.

very

can someone post more pictures of Kat's butt wearing this outfit? preferably in a way I can see the butt cheek's coming out of the panty

I would greatly appreciate it.

>DUDE ELDRITCH I LOVE LOVECRAFT OH MAN SO COSMIC HORROR BLOODBORNE LOVECRAFT LOVECRAFT LOVECRAFT EVERYTHING IS LOVECRAFT

>STOP TALKING ABOUT PANCAKES

damn dude chill take a toke bruh

I got this.

hey that helps, thanks!

Seriously debating getting this on PSN today. Should I? Some of my favorite games are:

>Xenoblade
>XCX
>Bloodborne
>GOW 1-3
>Banjo Kazooie

I hear GR2 is great, but I always like playing the first game beforehand

Did you try the demo?

>GR1 better than GR2
I agree in some regards.

GR1's plot was all over the place, but it feels like it made the most of its limited run-time, as if the game was incredibly excited to constantly keep jumping to new and interesting things. Alias, the time traveling scientists, the descent of the pillar, the creators, etc.

GR2's more fleshed out, but I feel like they spent too much time focusing on less interesting details, like unimportant side-quests, and the whole first arc that doesn't really go anywhere, when they could have spent the time fleshing out and explaining all the really interesting surreal parts of the world and character backstories.

So Gravity Rush 2 had more climactic payoff to everything in the end, but GR1 feels like it had more fun and creativity getting there.

Play the first game first. Just keep in mind that it's an upscaled Vita game. If you enjoy the movement and charm of the game, spring for 2 as it maintains all of that while generally feeling like it was made with larger platforms in mind. Kat is more likable if you play the first game first anyways.

I'm inclined to agree, but only because there are too many boring sidequests in 2

>hey go get X
>you gotta walk around for 20 minutes and find it

just let me have fun, please

The side quests weren't as interesting by themselves, but they would have little moments here and there.

>30 fps
Yeah, nah, I'll just wait for the price drop. I can just imagine the buyers remorse. Bought GR1 on release and platinumd it within a week and haven't played it since.

>MUH FPS

I would have gladly given up most of the quests where Kat has to speak to random citizens until you find the one that will actually talk to her, in favor of giving the Rebels one or two side-quests and see what was going on with D'Nelica and Yunica's side of the story.

Nice argument friend

>owns a PS4
>concerned about framerate

I'm so sorry.

I agree. There were a few quests I quite liked, like where Kat took the old man to where he used to take his wife, or the whole side-story with Chaz and the lengths people would go to avoid his insane training.

But there were still fetch quests and stealth missions I would have given up if it meant that they would have had a few more minutes to explain more of of Alias's backstory, or what happened to Singlor, or what the heck they meant when they said that Raven and Kat or their powers or whatever were somehow split off from the same person.

US version was a limited-run Amazon exclusive. EBay retards pay $100+ for it, while UK or HK copies can be had for below $40.

2 was good when they finally brought the creators and Heckseville back. I wish they had more of a role all throughout though.

I didn't catch that until people started talking about it in threads. Mind was blown.

>being this assmad at other's personal life choices
Go back to church grandma

They should have added Spikat in it

Thanks for the response brah. About to start Remastered. I know literally nothing about the lore, plot or characters, so Im excited. Cheers

>Anyone preferring Gravity Rush 1 over thew sequel

I don't think I'd call it nostalgia. Maybe it's because Gravity Rush came out as this extremely unique IP and experiencing the setting and characters for the first time really charmed people into loving the game, which isn't a bad thing. But it was literally a 7/10 game for its repetitive gameplay, poor story, and weak content that didn't take advantage of its massive world. A game that was the very definition of being held back by its hardware. I also didn't think the PS4 version improved the game as much as people praise it for. It was still clearly a handheld-designed game but with better controls. That's it.

With Gravity Rush 2, the benefits of being a console game are undeniable. The expressive NPCs and the details of of the map blow the original out of the water. In GR1, your point to exploring the map would be for gems and to have fun flying, but in GR2 you also get that with the added bonus of experiencing the life-like NPCs and setting. The gameplay also received some much needed flavor in its freedom to express your own way of fighting. I could go on about the improvements, but something negative would be the lack of focus in its story. It keeps ending plot threads as soon as they get interesting and the final plot had great spectacle, but had contrived moments that just raised questions about the game's lore and characters. Also, they fucked up keeping stealth missions in there.

GR2 is an 8/10 game with some 10/10 moments surrounded by 6/10 design choices.

2 was pretty disappointing considering it was deved on the PS4. I was expecting it to be amazing compared to the first, but it was more like GR1 than a real proper PS4 title.

facial animation was pretty bad, performed way worse than GR1 despite not looking much better. I have a feeling it started development on the Vita and they just moved the project over when they saw the Vita was a rotten egg

it sucks because we will probably never get another one because it sold so poorly. and despite it's flaws I really like the games for their style, music, the world, and just how good it feels to fall around and shift gravity. it's a shame they couldn't pull it together into a better game

The combat's a bit repetitive getting the hang of it, but everything else is charming enough to make up for it.

already knew. and I hope we get another Siren now that this series has failed. Siren: Blood Curse is one of my favorite surv/horror

>now that this series has failed

Please god tell me there is a way i can control the camera

I think the moment that still really defines what made Gravity Rush 1 special for me was the find the letter quest

The way it took a simple premise with slow-build up before suddenly throwing you head first into the unknown. The whole sequence is surreal and otherworldly, while hinting at the tragic and existential undertones of Kat's character and the encroaching storms that make up the edge of the universe. All of which culminates in finding the letter and dead boyfriend that the quest giver had forgotten about long ago.

It's a strange and emotional sequence that really stands out, despite any flaws gameplay-wise.

GR1 Remastered is 60 fps user.

Did GR1 have motion controls linked to the controller? I think you could turn it off in the options if you wanted.

And I think the d-pad or thumbstick reset it if you needed it to.

Sorry, it's been a while.

I like GR2's more interesting sidequests, but fuck the stealth ones. I don't think I've played a game that's less suited to stealth sections

That's definitely the highlight for most people and also my favorite part of GR1. Climbing the world pillar in GR2 certainly didn't have the same effect, but accidentally finding Lei Elgona and looking up to see Lei Havina was kinda good. Jirga Para Lhao is such a well-designed place.

You can find lots of it on german retailers. All sold for discount at ~20€

This was one advantage GR1 had. It was basically a PS3 game playing on a handheld. Though, if it had released on the PS3, it would've probably met the same criticism. But playing a 'home console' title on the vita, with all the fresh, new mechanics and world GR brought was amazing. I wasn't disappointed with GR2, however. It has a lot of unique elements in it that separates it from the wealth of PS4 titles out there. It did its own thing very well.

It's hard to go into games unspoiled but luckily I got into gravity rush. This whole scene is what makes video games great as a story telling medium. The story arc up to this point is kinda shallow, but you know as a player that there is more about the world that hasn't been explained. Once I realized what was going on in the quest it opened the whole world up. You get a sense of the scale and world design and it exposes more of the lore than any dialogue could

What's weirder, is I only recall the first game having one or two stealth missions tops.

I assumed that they realized that it didn't fit the gravity shifting gameplay that well early on in development.

>limited run Amazon exclusive
Source on this?
I already have a copy but my friend is trying to track down one. We're in the US

Hey Kat, I need you to break this box for me

Chaz did nothing wrong. He was right to expect his people to put some hard work into protecting the town

>Doesn't even buy her dinner after

By deliberately having people kick active explosives?

The guy was training rookie patrolman, not directing a Michael Bay film.

I think GR faults are often overlooked in part because it was a launch title on the Vita Handheld that released almost exactly 5 years ago. I don't think it was a terribly bad game though. For the most part, it was a pretty complete experience, if short.

I love how there's no explanation for the inside of the pillar and the massive stones floating around it looking like the bones and spinal cord of some ancient cosmic monstrosity.

>that boss fight

Was somewhat angering.

>performed way worse than GR1 despite not looking much better.

You're out of your fucking mind. GR2 looks leagues better than GR1 Remastered. There's not way this game was ever intended to be on Vita.

simple behavioural practice, to help associate external pain with internal discomfort of failing to meet the expectations

I was pretty angry with the stealth missions, especially the one with all the soldiers around, though going through the game again, they're a little more fun now that I kind of know how they work.

With a lot of anime, there's always this science becomes magic theme. Way, way, way in the future, humanity forgets its scientifically advanced past because of some cataclysm. A lot of that technology is left laying around, still working sometimes, but the rest of humanity is unaware of what it is. Nevi and Guardians are nanomachine colonies and the great world pillar is a giant, living , now dead, guardian computer for the moon sized space faring ark everyone's traveling in, millions of light years from Earth.

It wasn't too bad if you leveled up one or two of the special attacks.

I kind of miss the way that power moves recharged themselves in the first game. You could basically wreck anything with one spiral attack or rock summoning move after a while. But I guess GR2 didn't want you relying on them as much.

I could dig that.

I think those graffiti pictures around GR2 have a bit more explanation for the mythology of the pillar's backstory though.

Wrong opinions thread?

Only if ur dumb lol

...

i figured it out. Gone through the first couple chapters.

Game is pretty weird, but fun. Is it some kind of video game/comic hybrid? Still trying to get a hang of the R1 floating mechanic. I love Gravity Kicking.

All created post cataclysm. Just the truth turned to myth.

>But I guess GR2 didn't want you relying on them as much.

I don't mind this too much since I DID rely on specials a bunch in the first. But I often got confused in GR2, not realizing you could use your special meter for shit like charging stasis field shit and almost never had my special available during my first playthrough. I like it more now that I know how it works though.

Yeah, I thought the comics were just a budget thing at first, but I grew to like how expressive they can be.

And gravity kicking is Kat's bread and butter.

>Gems in GR1 are easier to identify from a distance compared to the ones in 2.
Gems were so easy to find that you had enough to max out all your abilities by half point of the game, with progression being the only thing stopping you.
>Stasis isn't broken
Stasis was useless in 1.
>Leveling up HP and Gravity meter > It leveling with missions
Did you play first game? You couldn't level your abilities until you progress through story missions.
>Nothing in 2 was as good as when Kat went down the pillar
And nothing in 2 was nearly as bad as GR1 after you return back to Hekseville from your pillar adventure.

The comic cutscenes are supposed to be inspired by french graphic novels, I think. Obviously, the characters are traditional anime style.
