Why did this game fail so badly?
I picked it up for ps4 for really cheap considering how new it is and i enjoyed it.

Although to be honest the first DE i played was HR and never really gave a shit about the story

Everyone says its so good and the graphics dont bother me but i just feel like it would be very overwelming and i wouldnt know what to do and have a terrible time.
I dont have problems with old games but when the game is old, complicated and i just barely have any interest in it i dont want to spend a bazillion hours just to learn how to play it

It's not that complicated and people who say it is are casuals. For a start you can solve every problem in the game in a million different ways, you honestly can't go wrong if you are somewhat competent at videogames.

Just make sure to play on Realistic difficulty. The game is clearly tuned for it and anything else feels off, it doesn't make the game harder as one might think. Same is true for Thief.

I think I speak for most series fans when I say we where waiting for something that would differentiate itself from the previous game, something with a fresh protagonist, a new angle and a graphics filter other than piss. Instead we got what should have amounted for an expansion pack at a full price, with forced multiplayer, micro transactions, bugs and optimization issues. Whoever shat the bed at Squeenix and forced the developers to rush it this way, I hope he got fired.

Give me 80+% off with all the DLC and I'll buy it.

Around 20-40 hours, depending on how much you want to immerse yourself in it, and you're likely to want to play trough it again with a different approach. Malkavian Mod takes the game and makes it into an insane parody of itself, it's a great time and I wish there were more game mods that did this to other games.

MD isn't bad at all. it's just doesn't feel like a complete experience
IW on the other hand is irredeemable trash

zodiac is a cool mod though. it takes dx's conspiracy shit to the extreme, but it still works within the universe so it doesn't ever get too over the top

IW at least tried to be its own thing in a full release. It's a failure, but one you can almost forgive and admire for wanting to try something different.

i know, i just followed the development for so many fucking years and even bought a physical copy of the game when it launched, and it did absolutely nothing for me

I picked up the deluxe edition for $23~. Haven't gotten far. I just ran around doing all these sidequests and haven't even gotten my augs fixed at the beginning of the game. I think imma just go full lethal and blitz through the game.
