I'm pretty sure they don't bother with beta or anything like that. They get review copies to play a week before it comes out. Not that they actually play it, they just talk about what score to give it in their secret gaming journals pro group. Then all the websites give it a similar score and review because they can't all be bothered to play it. They are connected like that, it's why they all decided to shit on gamers with over 40 articles claiming gaming/gamers are dead all within a day when GG started.

It's true that they collude, but I don't think this is an example of it. I think it's more likely he just didn't even play it and assumed it would be a pure upgrade from previous titles.

But if he did get an early copy, it would make sense that he wouldn't notice some of the issues. The servers could probably handle a dozen reviewers playing without catching fire. It seems more like an issue of reviews being made on an incomplete game.

Problem is the game is really kind of meh unless you just want fanservice. It's not a 1.5/10, but it's not 10/10 either. Reviews just suck for niche titles, since this is a 4/10 if you don't want that kind of thing, and 8/10 if you do.

This is also the first game in years I've dropped without finishing. Up until now I've managed to see to the end every game I got (even shitty things like NMS) but this shit has broken me, I cannot get through it.
