CAPCOM vs SNK 2

I had never played a proper street fighter, so i bought CvsSNK2 when i saw it on a shelf as a kid. Why is it so perfect bros?

Seriously, it got me into atreet fighter but why has no game ever come close to how good this one felt. I just loaded it up on my PS2 and no SF game feels as "physical" as this one did. When you land a hit it feels raw and brutal as fuck.

The 3D backrounds and music is so good too.

Anyone else got good memeories of this game?

>When you land a hit it feels raw and brutal as fuck.
It isn't really any different to most of Capcom's other fighters in that era in that regard.

Yup, played it all the time with my brother. Still the best fighter ever made

LEAVE YOUR TRAININGWHEELS AT THE DOOR!

Sakura is a miracle of the universe and should be in 5 already.

I don't know man, i remember buying SF: Alpha anthology for my PS2
After and being a little dissapointed with how much slower paced it felt. But i did prefer it as a whole being a genuine street fighter game.

I guess though... Thats a little unfair seeing as alpha were all PS1 games at first and Cvs SNK2 was always next gen.

Also whoever did Sakura's voice acting for CvsSNK2 was spot on as fuck. I remember being a kid and being suprised that a girl could sound so... Strong and confident.

I still beg for an online port of it. Only thing I'd really want is to tone down the Alpha rip characters or buff the SNK side a bit. Otherwise it's perfect.

To this day still the best version of Akuma's theme.
>tfw experiencing your first Misogi OHKO

The Alpha games are faster than CvS2. CvS2 is infamous for how slow it is even.

I haven't played the PS1 version though, I dunno if it's different or something.

>should be in 5 already
Now that's a monkey's paw if I've ever seen one.

I had it alpha anthology on PS2 thank god, because the PS1 versions have ungoldy alow load times...

Never could get my buddies into SF games we all normally played Tekken. They all complained SF was too cartoony and called it "poke fighter"

That said, EVERYONE got together to play some SUPER GEM FIGHTER that came with anthology.

S-she is all grown by now... What do you think capcom would do to her?? I hope she is still a tomboy with the perky joy of a sixteen year old...

My favorite fighting game of all time alongside Killer Instinct and Alpha 3.

I've been gaming since the NES's launch and let me tell you this. I've only worn out one consoles controller before ever, and just the one.

A gamecube controller, because of this game and Melee.

I still have that fucked up analog controller in a drawer a few feet away.

I played CvSNK2 so much alongside Melee that I fucked up the analog.

Anytime I hear the word or read the word "Osaka" I immediately think of the announcer from this game saying it.

O-SAKA!

THIS-FIGHT-IS-ABOUT-TO-EXPLODE!

FIGHT!

p-post that worn out controller bro!

>always got a boner playing as Sakura due to all her upskirts

>wanting another shoto in sfv
Almost as bad as wanting Makoto

Has there ever been an announcer to talk quite as much bollocks as CvsSNK2 announcer-kun?

CAPCUM...VERSUS...ESS ENN KAY TEW

HEREWEGO

>not wanting next gen Moko

In a fighting game? I'm not sure.

The NBA Street announcer talks so much shit you have to mute him though. He literally never stops talking shit.

my main memory of this game is always tied to 9/11, the Japanese DC version came out the Friday before, bought it, should have been at my house on 9/11 but for you young people who don't remember after the attack the government stopped all air traffic and then afterwards the mail once douchebags started sending Anthrax to politicians and newspaper.

so it was like 2 weeks before I could get my hands on the game, great game tho but once you figured out Sagat's crouching fierce combo was too much for my friends to handle, and they nerfed the shit out my my girl Nakoruru.

Oh man. Had something like 9000 online matches in that before my Xbox broke. Such a great game from when both fighters and Capcom were still good.

>THE MARK OF THE MILLENIUM 2001!

I am old enough that i remember "millenium being the biggest buzzword for like 3 years between 1999-2001

have you bought your millenium bug plushie in a can ready for Y2K user??

My Dreamcast was pretty much a CvS2 machine and that's it.

The game was that good.

It was just a standard gamecube controller only the back plating was that clear plastic so you can see the guts of the controller.

>pick Sagat alone with C-Groove
>defeat any team of 3 your friends chose

Good times.

This was Sakura for me. I was suprised to find after the other Shoto's didn't take a step foward before they Shoryyken'd. Big step, best step.

>a rushdown character in a game saturated with braindead rushdown techs
Please

>wanting Makoto with dash punches locked to V-Gauge
Bug Capcom to make her DLC for MvCI or something instead.

Stop bullying Sakura

>bullying Sakura

She's top-tier in this game.

bullying is hot faggot

THIS IS
TRUE LOVE MAKIN

>Thinking i want Makoto in their for any of that "balance" or "gameplay" shit.

Anons... plz

>Stop bullying Sakura

Pffft. As if anyone on Sup Forums is capable of man handling Sakura any time soon.

You don't have to care about "balance", not caring at all about gameplay is dumb though given what we're talking about.

Most fighting games have some sort of tomboy chick in there too, the only distinction Makoto has from the others is that she looks like a dude instead of a tomboy in her debut game (not in 4 though). You could probably customize Asuka in the recent Tekken games to moreorless look like what you posted.

>cvs2
iku ze
sho sho sho sho sho sho sho sho shos hosho shos hosshos shos shos soh

That user doesn't play or talk about these games, he just blogs about his fetish in fighting game threads.

guy is a fucktarded shitposter who fucked up many threads before.

Definitely not in a Capcom fighter. Since CvS was on some new hardware with more memory they probably took advantage of that to experiment with more in-depth announcer clips. MvC2 was also on that same hardware, but it obviously had lower production values than CvS, so no witty announcer there. Just lots of getting taken for rides.

I wonder if we'll ever see Custom Combos come back in a Capcom fighter. I know they're difficult to balance, but at least CvS2 managed to make them a lot more balanced than the insta-kills of SFA2 and the endless juggles of SFA3.

Only in the shape of shit like Genei Jin.

I dont think its much of an interesting mechanic anyways. Only good for dicking around and combo videos.

...

Any way to play this in fightcade yet?

Great contribution youreslf there user.

THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD IS WATCHING !

I'd agree except sf5 is actual trash

Mean. At least i started this nice thread user.

>playing CvS2 online over Xbox Live
>having a great match with some black guy that has Iori in his team as his ratio 2 and final character
>we widdle down each others characters to the final match: Me Hibiki 2, him Iori 2
>40 seconds of back n forth until i do a short hop over his head and Super Desperation move his iori facing the opposite direction while in recovery of his rekka
>KO
>guy says that was great and hes gonna save the replay
>i save the replay too
>mfw i was 14 years old and just button mashing
and the only reason the super desperation move came out is cause the game reversed my inputs when i hopped over his iori to give me the full input while i was trying to mash a fireball motion

>>>widdle
Is this a meme, I've seen it before

Will we ever see her again?

CvS2 was a legit good game though you retard.

No Capcom fighter since CvS2 has been better than CvS2 in terms of feel, system mechanics, design and music. SF4 was only popular cause capcom hit the same retard casual market that the wii hit, that market of people who would buy a game cause other people bought it and don't want to feel like retards for being the odd man out - so the game sold well despite being absolutely garbage and worse than SF3 in every way except roster size. SF5 actively tries to be more of a sequel to SF4 and improves little.

Capcom needs to get their groove back and stop outsourcing.

no i'm just retarded haha

Explain in lame man's term how is this fair.

I love the classic artstyle for characters in Street Fighter, why can't they bring those back instead of the buff as fuck current ones?

bump

The current model style is based on the SF3 sprites, which were buff as fuck. Illustrations are another matter entirely.

>THIS IS THE TUNA WITH BACON

You mean how 2D anime pixel art is better than 3D for 2D fighters

She only dished out a 60% combo that requires the whole gauge. Plus, CvS2 is usually played 3v3 so she'd still have to go through two other characters to win.

Aside from that, teams with grooves that don't have options on blockstun are fucked.

I really like the presentation of both Capcom vs SNK games. The first one is like a news report style broadcast, while the second game is in the same vein, while it feels like it's an outright celebration of some major event. It's really good.

Kinu Nishimura's SNK characters looked so great, her Hibiki is GOAT

The UI and menus are top notch, this and Marvel 2 had fantastic art direction (in terms of menu) and both have some of my favorite sound design of any fighting game ever made

As far as it is gameplay wise I love it, I know SNK got a little gimped but I had a ton of fun and the groove system is goddamn amazing. Roll canceling is both great and stupid

cuteness coming through

>alpha were all PS1 games at first
No, at first Alpha games were CPS-2 games.

Abominations like the PS1 ports don't count.

>Capcom needs to get their groove back and stop outsourcing.
Most of their talent from that era aren't there anymore. The CvS2 guy left to start up the company and made stuff like Super DBZ and the Gundam Breaker games.

Also CvS2 is good and all but I dunno if most devs could get away with half the cast feeling like shit to use (contrary to what OP is saying about how good the game "feels") nowadays like what happened in this game.

>uses all of her meter for 60%
>requires a corner as well
>it's a team game so 60% of one character's health bar is only 20% of your entire health bar

A-groove meter is easy to build though, and even if it wasn't a hit confirm, she could still activate her groove to guard break, do some damage, and then build another meter.

Does CVS2 give each fighter the same amount of health?

Who here played TvC?

Shit was the best vs. fighter ever. Shame it was released on the wii and not the ps3/360 or something

TVC's arcade machines used Wiis, so they did what was easier.

I had the first one on DC and I agree completely. I especially liked how in the end non playable characters Jow Higashi and Dan Hibiki win the actual tournament.

before nintendo channel closed I had like 5,000 hours.

there's still people playing it, there's a whole discord where people fuck around, there's even gonna be a tournament tomorrow.

it's cvs2

No the game was shit

I think its great when threads for old games like this pop-up and people like to talk about it. It shows that we would, if only someone brings it up.

I RILL PAINT MAI HAUS RIV UR BRUDD

Anything to add to that user?

I liked the "Oddball" picks in CvS 2. If a third game. By some miracle got made. I would like more of them.

YES.
Nishimura's Hibiki is definitely at the top of my list of best character portraits.

Does it really end like that? All I remember is a throwback to the classic Geese falling off a skyscraper ending and news coverage reporting on the building being blown up. I don't remember what was the one for Bison since I didn't play SNK characters.
Joe and Dan eventually made it into the game in Capcom vs SNK Pro.

WRONG!!!!

no, but seriously all the art in CvS2 was great, presentation is damn near perfect on all accounts.

Being able to cancel the same special move over and over was a mistake.

Wasn't Blanka considered top-tier in this game?

>The 3D backrounds and music is so good too.
It's kind of weird to think that outside of a few tracks for DMC2 the only games Ise's ever done music for are the CvS games. CvS1 has a way better soundtrack IMO.

youtube.com/watch?v=Ijkj_mgYvmU

It's not perfect at all, first of all, all the good characters are unpowered, second of all, it used six buttons instead of four.

literally shit

>Sound design

what the fuck dude

Play the first game then if you're bothered by Capcom buttons instead of SNK.

Yes, too bad Pro wasn't released here except for PSX.

Emulate DC version. It runs great.

I don't need to, I can play it on my DC, but I'd prefer an English version.

I agree. Everything actually felt like you were witnessing some kind of tournament. I wish a presentation like this could be revisited again.

Hibiki isn't an oddball pick, she was the most popular female Last Blade character before CvS2 was even a thing

you need the proper amount of people to get the DRSHHHHHH hit sound right

I'm joking, but thats something games like Mortal Kombat fail at really hard.

I thought that was the shrine girl?

She's an odd pick for a game about fisticuffs.

Bullshit. Kaede or nuffin.

Nakoruru? No one confuses Hibiki for Nakoruru. Get out, poser.
