Trainer battles and trading.
But no what do they do?
Turn it into some shit candy grinding game that has nothing to do with Pokemon at all.
You can never hold a Pokemon gym for more than 5 seconds.
You'll always find the shit Pokemon day in day out.

Stuff like Angry Birds and the like are unarguably games. Mobile gaming at its best is very much the "spiritual successor" to arcade gaming: lots of simple little time-wasters. Pokemon Go doesn't have any gameplay in it. I don't mean that in a disparaging way, I mean it's literally not a video game. It shares much more in common with social media apps than it does with games. I'd even go so far as to couple it with instagram rather than angry birds.
