Describe what would be the perfect shooter game for you, Sup Forums
The perfect shooter
Quake 3 Arena
Planetside 1 with modern graphics, more slow-projectile weapons, a tickrate of 240 or better, and the players-per-server limit raised to some really high number like 3000+
Insurgency with a decent competitive 5v5 or 10v10 mode
An FPS built entirely around movement systems. There'd be a bunnyhop-based character, a grappling hook character, a skiing/surfing character, etc.
Every character would have a gun which creates temporary (ie. fades after a few seconds) terrain when it hits a non-player, and the type of terrain would be different depending on the character's movement system.
The bunnyhop guy's gun might create little hop-scotch pads, the grappling hook guy would make stalagmites, the surfer/skiier would make slopes or hills, etc.
Every gun would do more damage the faster you're moving. So there'd be a metagame of trying to go as fast as possible while creating favorable terrain for yourself and unfavorable terrain for the enemy.
This actually sounds fucking neat
bump
I know that's not your exact idea, but Titanfall 2 does a lot of that in its own way.
Not really, it just has a basic wallslide system. It also has a super-casual TTK.
>an FPS that plays similarly to FEAR but with sliding and manuevering like Vanquish
dayz but an actual finished game
Destiny with a better gameplay loop.
But the perfect shooter game already exists.
Too bad it died for being too hard.
space harrier
As someone who has never played Destiny what's wrong with its gameplay loop? What is good about the game?
GRAW + XCom + Dwarf Fortress
It's like quake 3, but also has an unreal tournament bombing run mode with tribes jetpacks+skies in a fully destructible voxel-based engine
This sounds cool. I just want a game that let's me have different movement options. Actually, Gotham City Imposters did a fantastic job of that. You could glide through the air, skate , use a grappling hook, spring shoes.
Planetside 2 without the cash shop and grind.
It's like dota but in first person, and all the characters are parodies of duke nukem, doom guy, serious sam, master chief, every character that's every had a shooter, and various other characters from big franchises.
And they would all have the exact mechanics of their individual games.
You get it dude. FPS games are fun because of movement. Assault rifles are the death of the genre.
Faggot that's fucking retarded
What's good about the game is how good it feels to shoot things. Plus the world is actually interesting if you make a point to read through the grimoire.
The bad comes from the grind and RNG. The post-game has no real objectives other than "keep playing in the hope of better drops". It's difficult to set objectives for yourself like "I want a particular weapon or a particular armor set.
If it's from scumbags like Activison and Bungie, it will still be shit.
Taking away vanilla rewards and putting them behind paid DLC, is just one of many scummy ways they use to pressure people into shelling out more money.
Found the redditor
Arena shooter that crosses Audiosurf with Devil Daggers. Enemy spawns are triggered by the beat of the song and your attacks become more powerful if you perform commands to the beat (like bunnyhopping, rocket jumping, firing your weapon or grinding on rails). Enemy types have weak points and health-granting checkpoints spawn away from the player onto the map to encourage moving quickly through the levels.
I hope Platinum makes another shooter some day.
This but with mouse + keyboard and the levels rebalanced to compensate.
Rebalanced so that the 6v6 classes are slightly weaker, the highlander classes are viable (Give heavy some fucking movement options please) and Pyro, spy, and sniper are removed
Something that does the scale of Planetside but combined with elements from more realistic shooters like PR/Squad or ArmA such as actual logistics and small scale outpost base building. Also with more faction diversity, vehicles, varied environments and none of that cash shop and grinding shit.
Alternatively, something like said, all of them having their exact mechanics with maybe balanced to all be equally as deadly.
you're a soldier main arent you
I remember playing a on a custom server that made the Heavy's minigun push him backwards, letting him fly around the map by aiming towards the ground.
It was pretty fucking annoying having a Heavy drop onto your head from the skybox with his minigun spun up.
EDF styled defend the base with huge fucking waves of insects and squads of every class consisting 5 people, like total 25 people.
Titanfall 2 but with a bigger PC player base.
Many different guns from every possible time period.Experimental weapons.
A 20+ hours epic single player game
Fuck MP and how it has ruined the genre
Call of Duty was the shit before it became all about online with a 4 hours campaign tacked on
Scout/Heavy
But I play soldier for fun sometimes
Something like that would be interesting but probably not balanced or viable for comp
A realistic long range, trench style fps (not graphics wise) but if you get shot in a vital place once you die. if you get shot in a non vital place once, you slowly bleed out.
Id like this, the resources needed would be fucking bonkers though and we are not yet capable of such a game, the game chugs already, image in it with more people and explosions. One day.
Doom 2016 and BrutalDoom
The original MSDOS Doom was popular for its death match multiplayer
Multiplayer shooters aren't a new phenomenon
Warframe?
Problem with realistic ranges is that players become pixel sized.
It's already out.
>Why not just play Quake
Because being out of control in Quake isn't fun and games are too low scoring.
Armour tiers in Reflex make the game significantly more fun.
Guncaster with monster monster progression that fits the theme. Complex Doom's monsters just doesn't feel quite right.
Ill take Red Orchestra 2 community maps for $1488 Alex.
Project Reality, with better graphic fidelity, improved animations and 128-200man servers. Other than that, it's already perfect.
>he doesn't have triple head 40 inch monitors
Doom without the super shotgun, and enemies rebalanced to take into account the lack of a SSG
>He doesn't have septuple quad head 60 inch G sync enabled 320hz refresh rate monitors with eye tracking technology
So Doom 1?
Doom 1 with more enemy variety.
Insurgency's a really good game but man, attacking is ten times harder than defending.
I simply wish defenders had less hiding spots.
>Tarkov level of customizability and realism
>Insurgency gunplay
>Battlefield conquest scale maps
>wallrunning, sliding and boosting but all are limited and not call of duty levels of craziness
>close future theme, expect futuristic equipment mixing in with modern equipment
>doom levels of gore, expect shit to sicken and unnerve you
>insurgency style class system, 90% of team will be riflemen but there are a couple specialist classes i.e grenadier, machine gunner, sniper
>TTK is harsh, mostly everything kills within 1-2 shots but shots don't always hit where you aim
>>TTK is harsh, mostly everything kills within 1-2 shots but shots don't always hit where you aim
No one who has played more than 100 hours of FPS likes these kinds of shooters.
Counter Strike is already the perfect shooter for me desu I like how the game requires skill that goes past just shooting
>>Battlefield conquest scale maps
>each map only has 5 (or less) skirmish areas and they're all separated by vast expanses of empty fields and deserted streets
You're retarded. In the entirety of the Battlefield franchise there's only like 4 good maps.
cod4
>30 players
>perfect shooter
Delusional autist.
Nothing with realistic weapons and setting, thats just uninspired garbage for garbage people.
H3VR but with more to shoot at, but I guess thats coming.
Seriously no mouse-based shooter can compete with actually holding a virtual gun and performing the various actions.
The perfect multiplayer game was already made in Quake 3, so I have a singleplayer idea.
Fallout New Vegas + Borderlands 1 with the gunplay of a satisfyingly done ADS FPS, like Payday 2, which despite all of it's numerous flaws has guns that feel fucking fantastic to shoot. Boom. Billion dollar idea. You're welcome, Todd.
remove the cone-of-fire RNG and put in more lethal blast radius on vehicle-based explosives, and you have a deal
I said Planetside 1. The vanguard in that game 1hit infantry in its entire blast radius
A third person shooter with 2 FAST gameplay and movement like Vanquish, but you also get a bunch of melee weapons to choose from.
The game would basically have a health system that incorporates getting melee kills, and also the more you get the more powerful you become. So for example, imagine a 1 v 1 game. Each player starts with one "shield" if you want to call it that. Every time you land a melee, the damage you did to their shield gets added to your shield. So let's say you can make your way to 5 shields max, every time you go up a shield you get a major offensive boost.
I imagine the characters being Raiden-esque warriors with CHURAZY electric swords n shiet.
H2A's multiplayer with Halo 5's forge and assault rifle, and all the maps H2 originally had redone.
A rapid series of short one-on-ones.
>Atmospheric, intense
>2-5 minute average match time
>Set in very small cramped environments with many routes (mainly buildings but also sewer networks, abandoned mineshafts)
>Pretty much one-hit kills
>Each player carries only three things: A pistol with 12-round clips and only two magazines, a tracker that can detect someone who is staying still/in a small area for too long, and a flashlight
>No spray and pray, no grenades, no mines
>Very low brightness (in a way that can't be overcome by just increasing your gamma setting), forcing use of flashlights
>No GUI at all, to use your tracker you have to switch to it. It's bright and beeps, which could give away your position
>Scoring and matchmaking system incentivises seeking out the enemy instead of just hiding
ARMA 3 with RHS, ACE and TFAR with maps 10x the size and far more detailed, with Battlefield level graphics and physics based destruction, a more realistic anatomy based damage system, and much more simulationist ground and air vehicle mechanics.
And with the ability to get 1080x60.
And then they're harder to shoot and part of the game would be the rewarding feeling of getting a headshot with a red dot from 400m.
Onward but with police vs criminals and only urban environments with buildings you could fully use
bump
activision and ea shills on suicide watch
It already exists
BF2 in the frostbite engine.
Not 100% a shooter but
Solatorobo with Ace Combat gameplay and made by Project Aces
