Here's a real unpopular opinion for you OP: open world games are great.
>>Open world games suck
>unpopular opinion
No
>I like short games
>Open world games suck
I think people's perception on this is starting to change. I would rather play through 3 - 5 fun, shorter games and enjoy them the whole time than sludge my way through an endless open world game that never ends, and inevitably gets grindy and repetitive. It's the reason I never finish Bethesda games, or haven't finished Witcher 3, and I started Mad Max the other day and have about 15 hours in but I'm sure at some point I will burn out.
So how do you explain the open world boom?
Even fucking Zelda is now a Witcher 3 clone
Being popular with normies =/ being popular on Sup Forums do you even know how these threads work?
Welcome to the club.
If a game's main story is longer than 20 hours, it's likely that the game has a lot of filler.
>Open world games suck
Not unpopular on Sup Forums. Here are mine
>Going digital is the worst end for video games
>Mass Effect 3 had a good ending
>Call of Duty is fun
>The Gamecube was a terrible console and had Nintendo's worst games
>muh secret clubhouse
Do you have autism? 4shit is reddit 2.0 for the underage edgy kids
>first one
I agree.
>second one
I don't agree.
>third one
I agree.
>fourth one
I never owned a GC, so I wouldn't know.
Let me guess you play on PC
If you DON'T have autism you need to get the fuck out of here.
I'll give you a popular one.
Unpopular opinion threads suck
>if you buy video games you are ensuring that they will never be good
>taste is objective
>nearly all video games are irredeemable garbage
>rocket league is easily the greatest online multiplayer video game ever
If you pirate video games you have no right to complain about the state the industry is in because you don't participate in the industry.
>The Witcher is overrated as fuck, it's about as good as Skyrim
>head behind collar
>x-ray fingers
this image always bothered me
No. If you buy video games you have absolutely zero right to complain.
Your not "le supportan mai hobbi xD" you're doing your part to ensure that video games will never be high quality.
The best video game ever made is just alright way to pass the time. They could be experiences but chuckle fucks like you so worried that industry cocksuckers will take away your shiny toys dole out meager shekels like the pathetic little retard you are.
Have fun being the cancer with a sub optimal pea brain.
Games that rely heavily on graphics and story and multiplayer are all complete garbage. Regardless of genre, a game should be able to hold up entirely on its own gameplay.
Take Final Fantasy or Xenoblade or metal Gear solid as an example. nobody ever, EVER discusses the gameplay whenever they're brought up. It is always MUH LORE and MUH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT or MUH WAIFUS. The gameplay is nothing more than cinematic filler designed to cart you from one pretty setpiece to another, to listen to anime characters cut themselves while crying about their feelings, or listen to pretentious philosophy spoken by hacks who couldn't make it in Hollywood.
You take all of the story out of these games, and nobody would ever touch them again.
Wven though you posted with a weebshit picture you're right
>nobody ever, EVER discusses the gameplay whenever they're brought up
Objectively false, people always talked about their builds when Xenoblade threads were a thing. Leave it to an anime poster to not know jack shit about vidya.
MGS 2, 3 and V are praised for their gameplay. V especially since the story in that game is garbage.
Your argument is invalid.
>Japanese games are mere children's entertainment that will never reach the depth and sophistication that western titles have accomplished
I like you. I'm okay with 1v1 multiplayer as long as the netcode is decent but holy fuck the team-based moba-style bullshit needs to stop. That said I can't even play half of my games if the internet goes down because there are so few good arcadey single player games out there these days.
but no. You're standing as a person who doesn't feel they need to give money to an industry they're not 1000% cocksucked by. Even if the PERFECT game came along you'd still bicth about SOME shit within it to justify you're financial apathy. Fuck you.
>1. video games are fun
>2. I'll have no regrets spending my life playing a lot of video games
for a board discussing a hobby, a surprising number of people seem to fail these two simple basic points
MGS has fantastic gameplay you retarded cuck. Damn man leave it to weeabs to get something completely wrong.
Short games are great honestly, lot of times stories work better in short games
>>Open world games suck
this is common sense
only a retard would say "I love open world games"
>in a made up situation you'd react just like this!!
ahh. Opinion discarded.
Reminder your the cancer.
video games are not a hobby.
>Objectively false, people always talked about their builds when Xenoblade threads were a thing.
Objectively false right back at you. Xeno threads are always filled with Melia porn dumps, or people spewing cringeworthy one liners from the game.
>MGS 2, 3 and V are praised for their gameplay.
Really? Is that why V was universally hated for, and I quote, "being too videogamey"? Because it didn't have as much story as MGSIV, people hated it instantly.
Show me even one MGS thread that has ever existed that didn't talk once about the story, or that had posted porn of Quiet.
wow you're really toxic. If you're not baiting then you're fucked for life. I hope your single mother's fine with you not trying too hard to get a job.
>I like short games
Me too, man. I like mixing them in with larger games though, gives me other stuff to play now and then.
>Open wold games suck
A lot of them do, yeah. I've played a few I've really liked, but there's always so much damn filler.
>Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication
I agree, to a point. I think it really depends on the game, to be honest. Still, I'll take simplified ahead of over complex any day.
>Game of the Year Editions and Remasters are great
Totally agreed. Totally.
>Digital games are scam and drm
Yeah, not a fan of digital only. I'm a bit older though and I'd rather have a physical copy of just about anything; books, movies, music, whatever. Seems like that's becoming harder and harder now though.
These threads are supposed to be unpopular on Sup Forums not unpopular by normalfag standards
>I prefer old arcade games to a "comfee" open world full of trees and rocks with 200 hours of sidequests
>Sup Forums has a lot of babbies who think total hours of gameplay = quality PC MASTER RACE,
> toxic
user. Please. You might as well have posted your reddit screen name.
Your not just ruining video games you're ruining this site, If you're not baiting then you're fucked for life.
rude. please apologize.
I really agree with the first one. It makes me mad to see droves of people attack a game for "only" being 20 hours long (most recently Mankind Divided). I assume these people are either NEETs who can play 14 hours a day, or super-mega-poorfags. Quality > quantity any day, the cases where you can have both are pretty few.
I enjoy open world games if there's enough good content to fill the world and a reason to explore it. Open world games that are open world for the sake of being open world (and due to the bullshit above) are the worst though.
Internet was a mistake for gaming
I've been saying long games suck forever. I hardly find anyone to agree with me. Everybody its "muh core" "muh value" like really what the fuck?
I put the experience of a game above anything else. Even if the gameplay is sparse like Until Dawn or something, if its an interesting memorable experience, that's fine.
I guess I never really got into treating games as a competition. To me they are just another means of expression like film and music, except superior in a lot of ways since they combine elements from all forms of expression that have came before them.
Obviously I played to the best of my ability, and I have fond memories of magic runs on Diablo 2 and Goldeneye splitscreen and all that, but the idea of "e-sports" and collecting 200 to add 10 more points to your "gamerscore" is ridiculous to me.
The value thing especially frustrates me. Game prices aren't static by a long shot. If we are talking legit software they generally start at about $60, hit rock bottom at $10, and then back up to $200 or something when autists need their epenis "muh good old days" fix. Assigning Resident Evil VII (i LOVED the game) a 6/10 because its "a bad value proposition at 60 dollars" should be instant termination from whatever (((journalist))) outfit you are employed at.
And modding old game consoles to play ALL (all) games free ranges from piss easy (PS2) to "i had to think a bit and buy some cables" (Xbox). All those game prices have now effectively dropped to zero, and it is now a question of which games are worth your time. Which it should have always fucking been.
Somehow this narrative formed that all old games were 40 hours long with limitless content and no filler. And admittedly I've only finished 500 games over my time with the hobby but what games were these people playing? I think of the Playstation I think of the 5 hour masterpiece Silent Hill, I think of N64 I think of the 45 minute Star Fox 64. Out of space so i'll stop here.
