I've played a full game as Bloody Handz and started a game as +++ KARL FRANZ +++ so far and I can safely say it's actually really good. I haven't enjoyed modern Total War in ages because I'm a Medieval 1 baby so I prefer CK2 since it gives me all the little traits and shit I love, but WFB fits modern Total War spot on.

Just the base game of course. The DLC doesn't get sales and it won't for many years.

Yes, it's the best game int he TW series when it comes to field battles, that are the most important part of the gameplay and it will give you a nice introduction into the Warhammer Fantasy setting.

Ork and Chaos campaigns are a fucking blast to play and if you're bad at TW games, you can just play as ork and literally drown your enemies in ork boyz until you get good.

So are sorcerers not worth the army slot in this game or are they just not very good legendary lords, i.e. primary army generals.

magic users are great at buffing your armies.
Shiny fireballs are underwhelming unless you are targeting high mass units like cavalry.

magic gets fucked by unit sizes settings,damage spells are powerful in small unit size setting,but on large and huge they don't do enough damage.

The lower the unit size the better the magic. However, it's still good at the largest size, so I'd say they're definitely worth the slot. It's just that Kemmler is a very generic lore of vampire (which is amazing) mage lord. His melee sucks though, so it's better to just get a generic vampire lord.

Gelt is terrible because the lore of Metal is. It's the only really shit lore, together with lore of Wild (beastcuck magic), I think.

Certainly, but it might not be to you if you don´t know- or like- TW either, were it not for all the other games you also get at the end of the month, which are traditionally so diverse and have been worth it, even with all the padding.

lore of the wild gives you free monsters to summon and has a good missile.

Yeah now that you mention Wild still has uses even after the nerfing. I think I ranked them so low because I'd just much rather have lore of beasts in an army.

Orks are great, fuck you. The big boar boys are as good as demigryph knights against large targets and ork infantry is god tier. They also have the best legendary lord who can 1v1 any other lord, probably even Durthu.

Just wait till a sale to get the DLCs. CA has already integrated DLCs into the base game anyway, so you can play against the AI who uses the DLC stuff and judge whether or not it's worth buying.

Big ork boys don't need armor, because they're dedicated damage dealers who should be used for hitting the enemy in the ass for massive damage, like flagellants, except ten times better and Black Orks have plenty or armor.

I need a challenge that ISN'T about chasing enemy armies that rape your small towns. Wars progress LINEARLY. The AI behavior is just FUCK.

Chaos is as as good as the empire, IMO. Sure, they don't get the ant-cavalry cavalry, like the Empire does with their demigryph knights, but Chaos Kinights have insane attack and defense stats for a cavalry unit and are capable of staying and winning in a melee engagement with pretty much any other unit after charging them. They just don't give a fuck.

Chaos infantry is also god tier with Chosen having insane attack and defense status and more armor you can shake your ass at.

Hellcannons are also arguably the best artillery unit in the game due to their combination of splash damage and armor piercing effect.

Gelt and Franz had 10/10 voice lines but everyone else was shit.

They've been buffed a lot and I haven't played them recently (I play mainly Elves and Beastmen) so I'll take your word that they're better than they used to be (they used to be shit tier along with Dwarves), but no way they're as good as the Empire. Simply no way. Chaos have some great units, but they tend to pay a premium for them and aren't as adaptable.

That said, I'm actually really happy with where the balance is right now. There are still obvious differences, but they're not huge and a good player can win with pretty much any race. So if you say that Chaos can beat Empire... I agree, they definitely can depending on the players and their picks. But that doesn't make them just as good, especially since Empire is still the undisputed king of versatility and can counterpick just every race.

Because it looks terrible.

Point me to one. People keep saying this but all I find are mods that enhance (and require) the DLC.

Honestly, the game looks better without the blood mod IMO.

It's cool at first because you get neat death animations and decapitations and blood spray and shit, but then after a while you've seen them all and you start to notice it doesn't actually add anything except ruin the aesthetics of the battles by covering every unit head to toe in low-res gore.

40k honestly wouldn't be any good for this kind of thing. The closest you could get would be something like Final Liberation. 40k's a fun setting but WFB's more restrained and more fun.

Because that's not the effect necromancy has ever had in warhammer fluff.
