You mean, the correct one?

Because they don't give a fuck about you. They can use just one button that has ''fuck you'' written on it and you'd still buy it, you fucking drone. So keep giving bad people money and ask why they do things.

beep beep, best design coming through

>objectively superior and only correct layout ever created
>shitty
You don't even make any fucking sense.

Sony and MS both have the "main" confirm button as the bottom one. Why should it be the rightmost button?

That one is fine, but pic related is the most ideal. The most commonly used buttons should always be closest.

Explain how the fuck there can be a "correct" layout? It is completely subjective, dumbasses.

but A is the most commonly used button so it should be on the right like in the nintendo layout.

> not pic related

Thats only in western countries. In Japan O is confim and X is cancel

The most commonly used button should always be at the bottom. Also Nintendo are the only ones to fuck up X and Y placement. Pic related.

>The most commonly used buttons should always be closest.

B in that layout is closest to your hand though?

>Sony and MS both have the "main" confirm button as the bottom one

Originally, the symbols on the Playstation controller were picked for specific purposes. O for "open" or "confirm". X for "close" or "Cancel"

It's still that way on the PS4 in Japan if I'm not mistaken, confirm is always O.

English is written left to right. Japs are stupid. The nintendo way is incorrect. Sega got it right.

I wish they'd go back to the snes layout, where it's a slightly squashed diamond instead of a perfect square. Hitting Y, B, and A together (Mega Man X) sucks fucking dick now.

B is the second most commonly used button.

But if the logic is that the closest one should be the most used, then B makes more sense for confirm.

Why is X where Y should be?

>X button on Y Axis
>Y button on X axis

this triggers me to this day. fuck nintendo

Maybe you should go into your game's settings and change it then, you dumbass.

Fucking this. I don't understand why they changed it. Or, why Sony changed it.

Just turn it 90 duhgrees.

A true patrician.

I didn't say the most used button (non-plural) should be closest. A and B are grouped together. Bottom is the default placement, so it makes sense that the default button is placed there.

You should always assign dash to R or L.
If you haven't played mega man that way, you should.

t. burgerfag who uses the burger playstation button mapping

but considering the op says it's "wrong" then there must be a "right"

>but considering the op says it's "wrong" then there must be a "right"

Where in the OP is it implied that there is a right or wrong layout?

Nope.

boi. The way you hold 3ds, it makes the most sense for the A button to be where it is on the right.

Every console uses a diamond shape. What they call the buttons doesn't matter and what the buttons do is up to each game developer.
Ya'll argue over everything.

How the fuck do you even hold the controller/handeld if pressing A in that picture is more quicker and more comfortable than pressing the B?

I always have my thumb rested at the center of the face buttons regardless of controller

The only question I have is why the Genesis and Saturn are like / and not like \

Really tickles your pickle, doesn't it?

>Why is X and Y in their respective axises

Are you retarded, lad?

works on my machine

Why the fuck did they change it for the west? Nobody had a problem with it before, now it's inconsistent across platforms. Fucking localisers and their arbitrary changes.

Nintendo's and Sony's button layout is correct. Microsoft is the one with the improper layout.

Nintendo is correct for A/B
MS is correct for Y/X

Microsoft didn't invent that layout, my underage friend.

beep beep
let the gamecube die already

i'm sure if most of us were flies on the wall at corporate shareholder meetings for vidya companies, our heads would burst

people are so fucking stupid it's unreal and it seems like the longer you spend in charge, the dumber you get

So they knowingly copied a layout that is incorrect? Or maybe even unknowingly? Is that *really* your argument?

XABY / XABIE faggot
Only exception is if you have ABC XYZ sic button layout
Also O confirm > X confirm
Xbox ruined everything

Facts aren't arguments. It seems you may actually be more retarded than I thought.

>Shitty layout
literally EVERY controller out there right now does the "four buttons in a + shape" layout. Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, third-parties. I sincerely have no idea what the fuck you think might be wrong with this.

〇 and being symbols for yes/correct and no/wrong are cultural in Japan. If you've ever watched a Japanese game show, it a big thing. They even make the symbols with their arms.

That's not true, I live in japan ffs they changed this years ago

>XYZ in order
>ABC not in order

I literally adapt to either one within ten seconds. I use an Xbox-layout controller for PC and play Wii U games a lot.

this. if you arent used to every controller by now you dont belong here

the only problem is i want A to be the most accessible button

Whenever I play JP region games the circle and X buttons have their functions switched.

Na fuck off. I have a Jap PS4 and O is confirm.

There's no reason to ever need that many face buttons. Microsoft tried it and failed.

are you actually retarded?

ever heard of the genesis by chance?

I don't know what to tell you. In Japan, circle means right, and X means wrong.

genkienglish.net/marubatsu.htm

Thanks for admitting that they copied an incorrect layout.

We have replaced having more than 4 face buttons with shoulder buttons. Do you have a point?

Have fun playing anything other than GC games

>takes 15 minutes to reply
>hurr durr but it's incorrect

Do you need someone to remind you to breath as well?

This but more like this. Also making sure there are triggers.

...

Looks terrible. There's a reason they are angled in a diamond shape. Just imagine how uncomfortable it would be to reach for the X or B buttons in that clusterfuck layout.

Because Nintendo predates both companies in the video games market, so if anyone determined how it should be, it would have been Nintendo with the NES and SNES?

Yes there is. Now we gotta stop and switch weapons every fucking time in Zelda. I hated that I couldn't use an item and then instantly press another button to use the bow in SS.

kill yourself.

The N64 had that many face buttons. I gotta say, it made 6-button fighting games a breeze.

>whoever was first is correct by default

Not how it works, as evident by the SNES layout, which has always had incorrect placement of X and Y.

Why does it you XY and not YZ?

Just out of curiosity, what determines the "correct layout"?
Alphabetical order as you'd read them in sequence?

If you put your thumb in the middle of the four buttons, then all the buttons are at equal distance.

Sorry Mr. 1 minute & 32 seconds. Unlike you, I wasn't refreshing the page and waiting for a response with bated breath.

best controller coming thru

keyboard layouts usually use too many keys

this on top of it's a little bit harder to always hit the right key plus it's not ergonomic

...

killscreen.com/articles/semiotics-controller-design/

Hi Im just the lightest, most comfortable, best designed controller ever.

Please, no. That's like saying a piano "has too many keys" and isn't "ergonomic"
It's a layout MEANT to use a lot of buttons/keys. It's a good layout for that goal.

Plus, the games nowdays are what had to be adapted for limited layouts, limiting gameplay depth in some cases.
Not everything plays best on it, though.

The best!
Totally worth the overpriced accessory needed to play on a computer, which is probably its only downside.

It's a shame you can't just use this with the Switch. The only addition on the Switch pro controller is a retarded share button, that's it. $75 for a share button on a controller that's worse, but is pretty much necessary if you're going to play more than 1,2 Switch.

It's one of the few things Nintendo is still doing right, fuck off.

>X is on the vertical plane
>Y is on the horizontal plane

I don't see how this madness ever became standard.

The Xbox Elite is by far the best controller I've ever used, and this is coming from someone who hated the 360 pad

>Nice and weighty
>Properly micro switched d-pad
>Can switch out sticks to make them concave or convex
>Can limit the travel distance of the analog shoulder buttons (Which is awesome because analog shoulder buttons suck for 95% of games)
>Rubberized matte finish, textured grip on the back

I love it. It's mostly the d-pad, one of the best I've ever used on a controller. Which is ironic considering the 360's

fpbp

you actually can just go into the accessibility options and swap the functionality of the 〇 and the X buttons

O means open/accep/yes
X means close/exit/no
the guy that made the ps1controller was talking about why they chose the shapes they chose.
It's backwards in US

patrician's choice

While the Xbox Elite is arguably the best, most aesthetic controller in theory - in practice, it's laughable 90-day warranty and stick drift issues bring it down quite a bit.

The $150 price point is just a blatant scam cashing in on the Beats By Dre market. With how many Elite controllers had severe QA issues, there's no way in hell that $150 was justified. youtu.be/6Gzj0f9SrBs

>$75 for a share button on a controller that's worse
The Nintendo cycle never fails my friend. I still can't believe anyone still trusts Nintendo after the abortion that was Wii U.

graph's on the wrong side brah

While I do agree it's over priced, I've managed to avoid any issues whatsoever. I don't know if it's luck or if they'd just improved since then (got it fairly recently)

It also has gyro and that wacky HD Rumble

Though personally if I ever get a Switch I'll just use the detached joycons, Wiimote+Nunchuck was the shit for ergonomics and that further ditches the wire, only problem was 1/2 buttons were impossible to reach

The issue is early models have a defective c-pad that you cannot re-calibrate

Most games also use A/B and rarely x/y so you end up with a fucked A/B very quickly

Wait until they announce if they're going to update the system to allow that.
They did a lot of QoL changes with the Wii U early on.

youtube.com/watch?v=bSL4cmFW_GU

X/Y axis.

Goddamn I love that controller. Here's to hoping that the scorpio uses this as the default.
