Why would you play a sim knowing you don't like playing them?

Casul

It's not that I don't like playing them, it's that I don't know HOW and learning how is just going to be an exercise in suffering anyway.

sim games arent really about being fun in the traditional sense. it's about appreciating realism and mastering a difficult task

try to ignore all the cringe worthy memes

>release breaks before taking a turn
>car starts sliding uncontrollably

great sim

You have anything like this for Forza? I'm breaking into racing sims like Forza 4 and Dirt 3 and need guidance.

Dirt 3 isnt much of a Sim, user.

because you released brakes too soon causing your car to lose balance

What is TCS?

lame

Those are not really sims, are they? I've only played dirt3 and it was really arcadey.
You can probably find some help if you google it.

You should nail down simcade before going straight into sim.

Dirt 3 is straight up simcade. In fact I want to call it arcade, but I won't in respect to other actual arcade racers out there.

How can my car lose balance if it's on 4 wheels idiot

>he doesn't think his car has a balance with its weight shifting, traction or anything

You can upset the balance of the car causing oversteer because the rear wheels lose traction but the front wheels don't

>What is front and back inertia

You are the idiot.

>all the people who got roped into project garbage because of the humble bundle

what is mass balance?

something gays use

It's rough using a control, drop your turning and thottle sensitivity down to 5.

The problem your having is, you either have the wheel turned to much or you accelerate to hard on your corner exit.

Playing in cockpit view to where you can actually see you wheel, and watching your throttle in the bottom right will let you know what's happening.

Imagine your at a stand still with your wheel fully turned and you floor the petal, now imagine that happens when you already have forward inertia, should be able to understand why this happens. It's much easier to control with a wheel and a petal, but if you drop the sensitivity and pay attention, it's doable with a controller.

how come that never happens when I break irl?

because your car isn't going fast enough you aren't braking nearly hard enough and you're not turning nearly hard enough

You're not racing your car all around all the time are you?

Is Assetto Corsa any good with a controller? It looks pretty good and I want to get as simulator as possible without having to get into racing wheels.

Not really

people are used to arcade racing where you're 100% break or 100% throttle at all times, Even corners people often jam their analog sticks all the way to the left or right for most sharper turns.

Now, imagine a concept where you can accelerate and turn at any rate between 0-100%, use that newfound ability to not be shit the first time you pick up a sim. Now stop complaining.

traction control system

I believe it's a crutch for not having your wheel spin forever when you hold down accelerator from a stand still, for example. If you hate throttle control, turn on TCS. A high value will make your car very steady when cornering, but feels like driving through mud and understeering. A low value will give you better steering capability but you need to mind your throttle control when you mash that gas when exiting corners. If it's GT you're playing, I'd recommend starting at 1 and then increase it if you think wheel spin is causing you to fuck up.

it's okay. You can learn the basics and if you're still interested then get a wheel.

I haven't played a whole lot, but one of the audi's controlled pretty good out of the box (not the v10, the one above it?) Might have some understeer issues, so just take corners a little slower than normal until you figure out how to fix it,

i like making car go fast :)

same

>In fact I want to call it arcade

I don't get why people have this attitude towards Dirt 3. Yes it's no RBR but there's still enough sim in there if you turn off all the assists that you can't put pedal to the metal from beginning to end and use your magic drift button to take a hairpin at 300mph like you would in an arcade racer.

That's the thing with project cars. It's a simulator. It's more realistic than say forza or gran turismo. This is like saying "ArmA 3 sucks I'm gonna go play battlefield 4". Completely different games with completely different play styles.

>Racing game
>Braking is digital(on off)
>Accelerating is digital(on off)
>If you brake or accelerate, you have no traction
Why
Bonus point if it supports analog racing pedals, and all it do, is to tweak how much grip you lose

>Realism is not fun.
I don't know how Project Cars 2 is going to be, but Cars 1 is not turbo-realistic.
It's between realistic and the semi-realism of Gran Turismo.

However, that is only my impression so far, I haven't played it too much yet.

be less violent with the inputs or change the differential settings

That being said, what's the best way to go full Initial D in Project Cars?

I'm just saying OP should try turning TCS on if he hates controlling the throttle at corner exits.

Cars is such a stupid hobby
>hurr i like to make car go fast
>durr i spend most of my income on making my piece of shit manchildmobile go faster and louder so i can drive like a douchebag on the highway and piss off productive members of society in residential areas
I can't wait for self-driving cars to be the norm so no one has to deal with your shit anymore.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

fuck off brainlet

thats why i play video games

t. busrider

Different strokes for different blokes. I'm not one to go full out on my vehicle but there's nothing wrong with wanting to trick out your ride.

Video games is such a stupid waste of time
>hurr I liek to play gayms
>durr I spend all day and night playing pointless gayems while society passes me by
I can't wait for the purge so you fags can be wiped off the face of the earth

You don't know how to drive already?

>Stop liking what I can't afford

>emulate Gran Turismo 4
>first race
>car turns performs like shit even after having changed the oil
Turns out all of the driving assists are on by default. And I find them incredibly annoying.

You just gotta git gud nigga.

I've played a few sims PCars is just not that good, all of the cars oversteer wildly. Apparently it's because of a very simplified differential simulation.

is grid autosport sim or simcade

Also, why does Gran Turismo lose quality of life features as the games go on?

For example:
GT1 has a fantastic RPM and gear ratio chart, you can do qualifications in any race, you can save configs in your memory card, etc.

GT2 loses the qualifications but you can still access practice from within events. Also the RPM chart gets worse and the gear ratio gets much worse, and you can't save configs at all, you're stuck with just one.

GT4: you can do qualifications but only if you're doing tournaments (and they double as practice which is a nice thing I guess) but you can't do practice at all within single races. Also the gear ratio chart and the RPM chart might as fucking well not exist at all. You have to unlock circuits for practicing in them. The game still has the annoying "city" theme. Also you still can't sell components you don't fucking need anymore even after all those years.

Does GT5 and 6 get better?

The problem with racing games is you never get the same sense of speed that you get in real life. The only game that felt the most accurate for sense of speed to me was driveclub.

Simcade, but good.

GT4's biggest flaw is the arbitrary time gearshifts take. On some cars it is near instant but others (even racing cars) the car coasts along in between gears for a second or more waiting for the revs to drop before the next gear engages. Changing ratios does nothing either because the revs on some cars just take forever to slow down for literally no reason.

I like cars, but it does feel futile because you can't do shit with them unless you live near the Autobahn

Don't the clutch upgrades take care of that? Anyway if my 360 wasn't so fucking noisy I'd be playing Forza instead. It's such a shame that GT4's QOL is so shit, I like its timeframe and car selection much better than Forza's fixation on supercars.

grip is for retarded benchracers

In GT4 you go to the options menu and tick the courses you want to appear in arcade mode. It's retarded but I suspect you haven't done that.

GT6's best quality of life feature is having the entire roster in the dealership, every single car.

>In GT4 you go to the options menu and tick the courses you want to appear in arcade mode. It's retarded but I suspect you haven't done that.
Will practice mode show up for single races if I do that? I really don't have any interest in arcade mode.

>GT6's best quality of life feature is having the entire roster in the dealership, every single car.
Kinda like FM? Does it address the problems I mentioned about the RPM and gear ratio chart being useless?

Reminder that Project Cars is currently free of any extra charge in Xbox live with a paid live subscription (worded for all of you all idiots spitting "not free" bullshit).

One more thing about GT4: how do I improve the skill of the B-spec driver? I tried letting him do some sunday cup races and he's absolute garbage.

Wow, did the Chad down the street come by in his fast car and make your girlfriends panties wet?

I feel like practice mode is impossible to miss, but is this what you're looking for?

No, I'm looking for practice mode within any single race, as in a race that isn't part of a championship. I'm bringing that up because you CANNOT do practice mode in all of the circuits in the early game as they have to be unlocked for some retarded reason.

WHEN WILL THERE BE A NEW ARCADE RACER? WHY DID SPLIT/SECOND AND BLUR HAVE TO RELEASE ON THE SAME WEEKEND AND KILL THE GENRE? WHY DID CRITERION'S ALTERNATIVE VEHICLE GAME GET CANCELED? WHY ARE THEY STUCK MAKING SHITTY STARWARS VR GAMES? WHY!?!?!?

I don't understand what you are looking for. What I posted are options for:
>Practice mode (solo, no time)
>Track meet (practice with cars already on road)
>Photo drive (press select during replays)
>Family Cup (single race with difficulty slider)

You can access these modes from:
>Original Circuits
>World Circuits
>City Courses
>Dirt & Snow
>Driving Park
Basically any green sign on the world map

So for example I just bought an EK and started up a practice session at high speed ring. This is not part of a championship.

I forgot to quote you for

WHY IS HE BEING PAID?

Enter any single race, say, the Clubman Cup. Practice mode isn't there.

>mfw ride motorcycle
>aftermarket exhaust
>carguys get mad at my fast scooter

Right and I'm saying practice mode is now moved to a race box/quick race kind of hub where you would instead go to world map > original circuits > apricot hill then select solo practice or populated practice.

However apricot hill seems to be hidden and locked from a fresh game. Tracks are unlocked on a calender day basis so you just need to keep playing and random shit gets unlocked, which is ass but practice mode is still there outside of championships except they're all moved into a "quick event" hub.

sim/realism aspect seems pretty much covered at this point with plenty of nice games.

has there any good new casual/arcade racing games?

>Tracks are unlocked on a calender day basis
What fucking great game design. Also removing practice mode from single races is absolutely fucking asinine, because as I said if the circuit isn't locked you have no way of practicing there other than turning off autosave and savescumming.

...

fuck

>black and white car
>so its treason then

...

You can do something similar on Assetto corsa

>set race on California road
>fill the grid with x2010's
>watch them fly all over the place like flies
