>you are small >it's the weekend >your mom or dad has taken you to get that new game >you know the one >you've read about it in magazines and talked about it on the schoolyard and now the moment is here >you pick that empty case up and bring it to the register >you leave the store >that plastic bag feels reasuringly heavy with the weight of that brand new game inside >you clamber in the car and stare that back cover of your prize >the slick cellophane feeling so smooth and fresh against your fingertips >perhaps your impatience get the better of you and you unwrap the case and open it >you smell that crisp scent of the glossy manual >you arrive home and waste no time >you pop that sucker in and boot it up >company logos fade in and out >a song plays >it's been years, yet when you hear it, you remember those times so well
>pop that sucker in >WAHOO! BING BING! 1UP! SO LONG GAY BOWSER!

Imagine your story but then the fucking game doesn't work when you first try to play it
that was christmas when I was like 9 or 10 and got my n64. super mario 64 was corrupted or some shit and wouldn't start up, and I ended up having to wait for close to a week to get another one
>Forgetting the rest of your weekend starter pack Shameful desu
Lucas Fisher
B-but the Angry Nintendo Nerd told me that this game was bad!
Brody Morris
It was with my own money and many years later since the last time I played the SNES game, but I'll never forget the first time I saw this opening screen, it told me right away that I was in front of one of the best games I will play in my life.
I loved, love, the SNES game to no end, and I had NO IDEA that they were making this one, I went to the stores only because I had some bucks saved and decided it was about time to play a new game, when I saw it I bought it at the moment and came back home running.
James Perry
What the fuck happened? Am I just jaded, or are yhe newer releases actually just filling out checklist s?
Lucas Collins
You aren't jaded, or at least not much, but the new games so suck big time.
I mean, room decoration?, a tabletop game?, yeah, can hardly be called Animal Crossing games, really.
I must have been 12 or 13 at the time. I had a tiny CRT TV in my bedroom and spent all summer vacation playing TP. I find it really sad I can no longer enjoy the first game I really played and beat on my own.

Those are spin-offs, not main games like City Folk or New Leaf.
>Mom is gone for the weekend visiting family >Dad is in charge and lets you rent whatever game you want >plays the multiplayer with you all weekend and laughs at the jokes with you
Cameron Ramirez

>tfw I preferred playing outside instead of playing video games until the PS2 generation No regrets
Nolan Lopez
Holy shit user, I thought my opinion of you couldn't be any lower.
>faded glass cases were used to prevent robbery >see DK64, I wanted it but couldn't have it >someone bought it and I never saw a copy of the game for sale >as soon as it came out I spent weeks watching MM on the shelf hoping to buy it >finally did because I did not get DK64 and had been asking for ages >get home and turn it on >all the excitement and rush >memory pak needed to play the game >check back on the box >it has an icon of it I couldn't see well because of the faded glass previously covering the case >DK64 came with a memory pak I eventually had to trade MM for starfox and another game that was cheap because I have literally never seen a memory expansion pak for sale anywhere. God played me a clever ruse. I got to play MM on an emulator but I still ended up buying the 3DS version right away.
When I first played halo 2 it was so incredibly magical and the amount of hours I put into 2 and 3 were so disgusting I dare not even think about it youtube.com/watch?v=KCSDeT6dPSU&t=39s
>Be me >Prob in 2nd grade >Save up all my pocket change/lunch money/chore money >See game with hero that looks like power ranger >Slap my money on the table with change and all >Go Home and slap this into gamecube >This plays youtube.com/watch?v=gNBI9aFN05w&index=1&list=PLEB91E661EA7AD4B6t I want to go back Back to the past
Holy fuck, you made me remember the best day of my young life user.
>It's the year KH gets released, 2001 or 2002, I can't remember >been saving all my change in a large ziploc bag >Brother who is eight years older than me asks if I want to go for a ride with him >Of course I want to go for a ride with my cool older brother >We end up talking about the new game we both want and decide to go and get it >We drive to th closest Wal-mart and he buys the game >I take my bag of loose change and but the Prima strategy guide so we can play better >On the way home, we stop by Taco Bell and buy two or three orders of those twelve pack soft tacos family meals >Get home and go to town on Kingdom Hearts and soft tacos for the rest of the day
There may be games I like better than KH, but there will never be another taco run.

>It's the day after Christmas, I was 7 years old and just got a brand new Nintendo 64 >It only came with Pokemon Stadium, and my dad figured I needed more games for it >He takes me alone to a game store a couple of miles away >We enter the store, the door rings, and we look around the n64 section >I had absolutely no idea what game to get >This was my first video game console and there was so much to choose from, I was simply just overwhelmed >I let my dad choose for me >He picks the game with the most badass cover from the bunch and buys it with no hesitation >We go back home, I race to the n64 and put the game in the top loader, turn on the tv, flip to channel three, turn on the console, and at full volume >[GUITAR SOLO]
>booting up Halo: Reach for the first time on our new TV and hearing that music >that zoom past all those planets >being amazed at the graphics at the time Being 11-12 was amazing. inb4 people who can't realize that people grow up
