Why were people here hating on FFXV?

Why were people here hating on FFXV?
I finished it recently. While it didn't meet my expectations, I still enjoyed it overall.

Also Gentiana is pretty cute

It is not remarkable

i like it too user

Why do you care

It's more controversial to hate something than to like it.

...

Has she photo bombed anyone yet in the new mode that lets you take pictures anywhere? Does anyone even play anymore enough to care?

I bought the decal during the carnival, then quit.

Her eyes are pretty I wish she didn't keep them closed all the time.

>Has she photo bombed anyone yet
what?

I didn't hate it but it was kind of a disappointment that after all the years it was just an ok game
At least it was better than 13, I guess

If played the original fantasies, you could tell the developers, directors, and writers poured their souls into the characters. They did this because, at the time, they had nothing else to give; they were a bunch of poorfags in a rapidly bankrupting company full of desperation, bitterness, and anger but also hope, dreams, and vision. Those things translated into their characters, and made them feel alive despite their 8 bit graphics.

Today, final fantasies are made with money, hype, cg, and "market research". Every scene is designed to accommodate the audience instead of challenge them, and every character interaction is synthesized from acceptable tropes gleaned from textbooks. Nothing is wrong with this approach... it makes a good game that makes money, but it just doesn't stand out and scream its existence to the world as its predecessors had done.

Gentiana randomly appears in pictures because she is weird like that and you get a trophy called something like "celestial photobomb" or something like that

>Why were people here hating on FFXV?
>shitloads of pointless, boring time wasters
>worst defensive mechanics ever created for an Action game/ARPG
>overwhelming majority of the moveset is shitty normals, huge lack of variety/utility
>items are broken as fuck
>enemies lack tells and hitstun all around
>most fights are super samey
>magic, summon, and Armiger systems are garbage
>there's still a fucking damage cap
>the 'epic' boss fights are cancer
>even at Lv 1 the game's difficulty is a joke
>optimal fighting style has nothing to do with weapon movesets and is incredibly boring
>Tabata doesn't know how to do fight gauntlets

>I've never played an FF before THE post

Wasn't that aranea? But yeah I got that achievement.

>even at Lv 1 the game's difficulty is a joke
How is the game easy at level 1? I was at level 60 and there were monsters one shoting me everywhere and even when I play carefully I seem to get hit out of nowhere because enemies seem to generate hitboxes at random with no warning

>>shitloads of pointless, boring time wasters
ff15 did away with the biggest time wasters of the series, namely random encounters.
>>overwhelming majority of the moveset is shitty normals, huge lack of variety/utility
Royal arms are pretty much all unique.
>>items are broken as fuck
Only if you grind for them, but every ff game can be beaten by grinding.
>>enemies lack tells and hitstun all around
dodge
>>even at Lv 1 the game's difficulty is a joke
kek
>>optimal fighting style has nothing to do with weapon movesets and is incredibly boring
And what are you supposing is the optimal fighting style? inb4 hold o to win

He's bullshitting hard.

it's better than 8, 10, 12 and 13. that's for sure

So basically by " final fantasies today" you mean ff7 and beyond?

>How is the game easy at level 1?
Easy, the only difference in the campaign is your allies die easily to groups, the things that oneshot you at Lv 1 will probably oneshot you at 60, most of your survivability comes from equipment anyway and bullshit hitboxes aren't any different.

>discuss
Not possible in XV threads. Every criticism against the game or saying that it's easy is just laughed at or you'll be insulted

>shit characters
>shit combat
>shit story
>unfinished
>fetch quests
>shit open world
>didn't feel like a final fantasy

I really liked it but it could have been so much better. The story was shit, it felt so rushed. Disappointing in a FF game.

>shit open world and fetch quests
>didn't feel like a final fantasy

He said 8 bit, so clearly from 4 onwards

>ff15 did away with the biggest time wasters of the series
Nothing's a bigger time waster than the car, camping, and getting cockblocked by allies. Also, XII didn't have random encounters.

>Royal arms are pretty much all unique.
They aren't. Not a single one has a complete moveset and they recycled shit among themselves and from other weapons, and also suffer from most of their movesets being shitty normals.

>Only if you grind for them
Items in older FF games took a turn to use and cost more to horde, now they're used invincibly and you can trivially carry 200+ at all times.

>dodge
Good luck with that when something smacks you in the middle of your own attack.

>And what are you supposing is the optimal fighting style?
Damage cap breaking magic, Link Strikes, Ally techs and armiger. The only exception is Adamantoise.

world map =/= open world

I liked it. I like open world action games.

I just finished it as well. It was fun, and I loved the soundtrack, but the game became complete and utter shit after Altissia. It was such a huge fucking mistake to kill Luna, and everything after the fact makes zero sense. The story just made no sense after that and got boring as shit. Fucking disappointed.

Because aside from its premise, it does damn near everything wrong. I was expecting the game to be a trainwreck so I was pleasantly surprised at first when it seemed playable. But as the game went on, it revealed how shallow and poorly executed every facet of the game is. The story and characters are paper-thin, combat is tedious and controls poorly, set-pieces like stealth and trains are garbage, minigames like fishing or chocobo racing have no variation, side quests are incredibly generic, and so on. It's a slow burn disappointment that left me feeling extremely bitter and wanting my time back, where all the potential was squandered on mediocrity and obvious DLC hooks.

This. They had so much opportunity to do a lot with some of the other characters. Everything was so short and shallow. Killing Luna was also a huge mistake as well.
