Sure D1 was great and probably objectively the best story, but none of them are masterpieces.
Most of the fun, for me anyway, comes from the characters themselves and their interactions rather than the story itself.

5 delivers goofy fun, good generics, great gameplay, lots of neat features and big numbers. Might not be the best, but it's certainly worth playing.

First game was both a financial disaster on the PS3 and a disaster on the hardware. The PS4 re-release was a slightly better experience, but still a financial failure. Amazon sold the last of their stock for $19.99, then never bothered to reorder.
