Probably not, no. They'd have to seriously change up the gameplay, but they won't.
So tired of the "watch this video and STUDY it all day until you've learned the perfect dance recital with 8 players" endgame. I'd rather fucking open world grind in RO again
>watch this video and STUDY it all day
Well, watching videos does nothing, you're better off skimming through to get a general sense and then doing the actual fight; but I agree, something as shitty as 0.1% drop mob grinding would probably be a better alternative, because then at least you'd have something that you can work towards at your leisure and don't really need a group of other people to be on the same page to do it with.
Wont say I'm falling for it, but it's the MMO I prefer in the sea of trash that is out there. Did Legion for 2 months, got boring. Did BDO for 3 months at launch, got boring. Did B&S at launch till BDO came out, it can still be entertaining, but i don't dare touch action-combat MMO endgame, let alone f2p endgame and PvP. Nothing else out there really. Plus the 24 mans are hilarious in XIV due to how one little messup can almost wipe your entire raid and people just start fucking pointing fingers.
Name one (1) MMO that's better to play instead then
>Study all day.
Not all of us are that slow to learn user.
>playing this game when WoW exists
2.5 gcd
Learning is easy.
Finding 7 other people that are competent enough to practice what you've learned together without wiping over and over to the same shit, or finding 7 people that are experienced and will tolerate your presence long enough to clear, that is the hard part.
And good fucking lord is it hard.
I was busy the night 3.5 launched so I made a weighted decision to not bother with Zurvan EX. I'm sure the fight is fucking hilariously easy for someone like me that's i269 and has cleared A11S, but getting that clear now would be hours of tortuous wipes with PUG smacktards and when I already have an i270 weapon the experience is tantamount to self flaggelation.
Good job avoiding the central argument.
Also, I forgot to mention the elitists discord circlejerk dpsdpsdps AST carry fflogs faggots plaguing the genre now. And the weeb faggots around every corner. The attentionwhoring, batshit CRAZY females and self-proclaimed char info search trannies. Carry on with your 200k dying game, gentleman. I'm sure things will be different in 4.0.
It does everything when people expect you to know the fight like the back of your hand when trying to catch up to what they've been doing since the new content was released. Try telling a new player to join an endgame party. Any party. Without having watched a video. See how long he lasts before everyone shits on him or group simply disbands altogether because they're all tired of the same shit happening day after day in party finder. Literally the 2nd worst MMO community.
So where is the pirate stream gonna be?
>Announcing swimming as a feature and people are falling for it
How to spot retards.
I'll play WoW when Legacy servers are up.
What if I don't play for Endgame?
>didn't have time to play when 3.3 launched
>try to do Nidhogg EX maybe a week after the fact
>didn't even make it past first set of strafing runs half the time
>pugging T7 after they neutered the fight
>not a single new person in the group
>people would still fuck up
Why are people so bad at this game?
Time to get a few hours of sleep before the FanFest starts.
because the devs themselves encourage bad players
People still can't dodge things in MMOs it's amazing.
>people go through the entire 1-50/60 experience and still can't fucking grasp that you get locked into AOEs and that animations literally don't matter
>use jump to jump over an aoe
>you don't actually jump over it
DEFEND THIS
I-I have 200ms since I live in a shit country.
Do I have to pay for the live stream or is there somewhere that I can watch it for free? Fuck giving Yoshida more money, I see how many fat moogles are flying around all over the place.
Russians did restreams the last two fanfests. Just hang around the threads and wait for a link.
>use Jump
>Vulnerable to AOE in two places now
>Underneath the target and where you were standing
>After the orange danger zone goes away you can step right back into it before the animation even goes off and look like a badass not taking damage while caster/healer finished his cast, didn't get out, and got 1 shot and wonders how you lived.
Then you probably shouldn't play an MMO.
Oh Behave
Fair enough. Thanks.
Anybody struggle with zoning out mid raid? I've soldiered through the endgame raids since coil, but throughout I usually get stuck in this awful hump where I start to get worse at a fight the more familiar I am with the early stages.
They're like 50-step games of Simon Says and by hundreth attempt reaching the 40th step my mind is straining to stay on through that numbing repetition.
It really bothers me that people don't grasp this concept. I know I had it down by my second dungeon run, at the least. By the same token though, I don't know why SE doesn't change it so that the AOE marker lasts as long as the animation but whatever.
>there is a boss in the new nighthold raid in wow who is called the "chronomatic anomaly"
>in the lore he has frozen time to the entire force of the alliance and the horde and everyone is just standing still because time is going SO FUCKING SLOW
>the gimmick to the fight is that he fucking casts a time slow spell on the raid to fucking slow you down to a crawl, making you miss interrupts or fuck up your steroids and cooldowns
>he basically stops time in a balanced way, to a level that is completely fucking frustrating and leaves you feeling the loss of control over your character
>your GCD is 2.5 seconds
>I don't know why SE doesn't change it so that the AOE marker lasts as long as the animation but whatever.
THIS
None of that matters when you have friends to play with, which is the only reason you should be playing an MMO in the first place
You said it yourself-
>that numbing repetition
You're getting bored, whether or not you realize it, and you're falling asleep. It's one of the things that's making me quit this game; the endgame is just a horrible, mindess slog.
>Yoshi-P comes on stage with the Austin Powers theme playing
>People speculate in live chat
>Man of Mystery job announced
>MOM
YEAH BABY
Here is the trick, search 20 minutes before it starts in youtube livestreams, there won't be many at that hour and you will be able to catch one, those will unlist the video 5 minutes after it starts, that way they can't take it down, it's has been always like that.
Or join the reddit discord
I don't want to bring up old wounds of WoW supposedly ripping off FF14 but that sounds a little too much like the final Alexander fight.
Agreed. It pisses me off that my friends quit so now I need to join a FC but I'm contemplating just quiting altogether.
>MOM
Enjoy your MOMMY ERPing
>have zurvan ex on farm status
>still haven't cleared Seph Ex or Sophia Ex
Fate of a returning player
> search 20 minutes before it starts in youtube livestreams, there won't be many at that hour and you will be able to catch one, those will unlist the video 5 minutes after it starts, that way they can't take it down
Oh wow, that's actually pretty clever. Nice. I probably won't be up that early though so I'll just catch a restream or read what everyone's talking about here.
>Man of Mystery
>Spiderman wears a mask
>To the general public he is a man of mystery
How do people work out how many "points" you get from sturdy, robust, etc? How many do you need all up?
I wish I could just go to sleep but doing livestreams with Sup Forums, and specially this one that will make so many people butthurt about SAM or BLUE is something I can't let pass
TFW it's Geomancer
There would be no survivors.
This is the light tracker. You need 2000 points.
Jumping is pointless in this game
>DNC tank and no SAM/BLU whatsover
I'm convinced I'd be the only person happy and I wouldn't have it any other way
DNC tank sounds as stupid as SAM healer, but I'd love to see them pull it off.
That number people use to shitpost about subs gets more and more exagerrated every time I see it.
tfw it's GEO but is closer to the FFT version because Ivalice content, so it ends up being more like RUN than anything
>yfw DNC tank AND SAM healer
>Posted this in the FFXI thread, but it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion from those who actually play the game.
Super tempted to buy XIV while it is on sale. I'm not really fond of subscription fees, but I'd be willing to suck it up if the game is good.
Should I whip my credit card out or just save it for something else? Last MMO I played was Black Desert and that was a absolute RNG fest. I imagine it isn't that bad in XIV. Should I pull the trigger or just move on to something else?
Do the free trial, lets you go to level 35.
If you start now you should be getting caught up right around the time the expansion drops in June, so I'd say it's actually a pretty decent time to get into things. There isnt very much RNG in XIV at all unless you get into crafting and gathering. Also this , though be warned most jobs don't really start picking up steam till level 40 or so.
It's essentially a WoW clone that actually tries.
The start is slow because almost every class is half-broken until level 30 at the very earliest, and the main quest has parts with lots of filler early on.
>Play WoW
>Macro so my rotation is 1 button
Wow so immersive
bummer is that I don't hate the game completely. Feel like a lot of aggravation and boredom could be solved if the game and servers ran faster. To the degree that you had to be more reactive in the moment, then just memorization. Like in Monster Hunter, as long as those fights are, their moves arent a static rotation, I Need to be tuned in, watching their movements, and actually dodging projectiles and limbs instead of aoe markers.
>Friend who plays WoW all the time tries out FFXIV
>mfw he actually tries doing this and makes two macros that do his whole rotation
>"user this game is boring the gdc is too high"
What you mean the global cooldown of like 15 you gave yourself?
Is Puppetmaster confirmed yet?
>It's essentially a WoW clone that actually tries.
This. It's a very well done WoW clone, but if you don't like WoW then this probably won't change your mind. It has way too many slow parts for me (a lot of running around to opposite corners of the world for the main story quests) but the actual gameplay is solid. Endgame is a horrible repetitive grind but the journey there is pretty good.
I just don't get why people want to be hitting buttons every other second of combat. These are RPGs, not action games. And I also like being able to type out a message mid-fight without dropping my dps to zero.
I highly agree but that would take skill and attention, which would scare players off. Since this is a subscription based game, SE needs as many players as possible and they need them to stick around for as long as possible.
Stupid question
ffxiv-fanfest.com
Are these times CET, PST, local time or what?
>FFXI maintained 600k subs for six years straight throughout its peak
>FFXIV, despite being babbies first MMO that makes constant excuses for casuals, can't even reach that and relies on the cash shop to stay alive
Really gets the noggin joggin.
>And I also like being able to type out a message mid-fight without dropping my dps to zero.
Fucking cancer, holy shit. You have plenty of time to talk after the dungeon has ended.

Gamepad makes this game real comfy
>blow your opener/fight trash
>map bread and butter to R2 + face buttons, using XHB and WXHB
>have a conversation and still maintain dps/aggro
Mediocre Bait.
See and 1.0s GCD memers get BTFO.
>pirated version of a game released in 2004
>its so embarassingly bad that the company refuses to acknowlege it existed, adding 13 years of changes on top of it
>the actual code is lost forever and this is just some incompetent russians pretending to run a server using feedback from senile nostalgiafags who havent played a game in a decade
>its still faster than FF14
Don't forget that FF11 came out at a time when MMOs were still coming into their own and WoW hadn't even been released yet. Once WoW came out, the whole genre changed in an attempt to copy and match WoW's insane success. It's unrealistic to those numbers anymore because the playerbase is split up so bad. Even Tortanic has quite a few players.
>not being to type in the middle of a rotation
stop sucking
I just did a server transfer from Ultros to Leviathan.
Who are the resident memes that I should watch out for over here?
why would you make the game even more boring for yourself?

anyone here from brynhildr?
anyone who plays as a cat or a dragon or a potato or a seth rogen
Honestly, why do people find this fun? My experiences with a lot of MMOs is that's you'll be doing the same regurgitated shit for months on end, why is this one any different?
Anyone that afks in limsa
I'm from australia

I actually agree with you user, despite everyone hating
I go into a goddamn trance playing games with faster GCDs, can't focus on anything but the cooldowns
Rhitatyn and Luvia can be seen in PotD.
Gauis' body was never recovered.
Calling it now: The White Ascian rescued him at the last second before the Praetorium exploded, Ilberd was just another False Griffin and Gauis is the true Griffin pulling the strings behind the Ala Mhigan rebellion- playing the role of Lelouche and wearing a mask to hide his identity while he takes the city back due to the current guy being a shithead (Gauis was the ruler of Ala Mhigo before him).
Can't fucking wait
