it died because intelligent systems is fucking awful now and didn't have a waifu hook to sell millions
>and didn't have a waifu hook
it had waifus though
Inb4 fire emblem killed it
>Dying series
>oh shit lads better make an edgy reboot
>it fails
>'fuck this shit let's put our energy into fire emblem'
It died a dignified and respectable death after one last fantastic game.
not casual friendly
But you can't enter them into player-sponsored anime girl eugenics programs.
First post. The post that hurts the most.
I would happily watch the 3DS die if this were the last game to come out for it.
its SUPER casual friendly, more so than Fire Emblem with character permadeath
Int System happened
Nintendo un general.
They are useless like Camelot now
>more so than Fire Emblem with character permadeath
and fire emblem only got popular when they gave you an option to remove permadeath
they're not for romancing and tend to have actual personality rather than standard anime tropes, so unsuitable for the waifu audience
But can you massage their faces until they tell you they love you?
fire emblem has a levelling system and mechanics that are so easily abusable that it never actually gets very hard
meanwhile AW puts you on an even playing field unit wise, and a fucking unfair playing field topography wise
almost all AWs are way harder than almost all FEs
It was too advanced for some people.
>take Advance Wars
>keep modern infantry, tanks, scoutbuggies, etc
>make named unique non-permadeath character units
>drag and drop combat from FE:Heroes
>storymode
>cute waifu charcters
>cameo squidkids
let the money roll in
The devs themselves want to make more and are able to according to interviews from 2014 but they don't have any ideas for where to take the series forward whether it's in gameplay or setting and don't want to just throw together a uninspired rehash
And while the series did terribly in Japan due to poor management of the brand there since the GBA entries, all four localized entries sold great in the west which is why making a new one is even on the table
It was superseded.
Just kidding, BW was flawed and it wasn't as good but it had a lot of potential.
And technically the series is "Wars", Advance Wars is just an entry in the Wars series
>AW
>nobody even gives that much of a shit about Battle Isle
I do wonder what would have happened if Nintendo localized Famicom Wars. Fire Emblem was kind of too late since by the time it came here it would have been out during the SNES era. Plus RPG wasn't that big.
Battalion Wars is underrated as fuck.
Needs a comeback.
>Battleworld Kronos
>it's okay
>units just directly fire at other units within the game world
>no "cut-away" scene for combat where your units line up and fire at each other
it's just not the fucking same
...
I was so annoyed that you couldn't order troops to move to your cursor location in 2. Such a step backwards. Fun game otherwise
...
One of the devs of Chucklefish is making an AW clone set in thîe medieval age
Looked exactly like AW from the little tease in Twitter
>The Japan analogue is naturally the hyper advanced peace loving nation
fire emblem is easier because the devs have to design the levels to account for permanently losing heroes
each level in aw starts fresh so it can be actually challenging because the devs know exactly what you're playing with (although in DoR they did have the carry over promotions but it rarely made a difference)
Yea, a bit AW, with the skin of FE
...
>Chucklefish
scared.jpg
Also there's Tiny Metal but I'd be surprised if that turns out good.
Hey, if it's almost a 1:1 copy of AW with a sword and magic skin I'm not complaining.
...
Days of Ruin sold like absolute dogshit.
Is Days of Ruin the only edgy reboot in vidya history that actually worked and is probably the best in the series?
The hell is this?
Where did you find it?
Days of Ruins was brown and grey shit.
The only thing I liked was the new motorbike scouts, the flare-launcher, and the crop-duster. Just because they seemed comfy little tricks, rather than supermegatank nonsense the series always devolves into
BW: Kronos seemed more like it took after Panzer General than Advance Wars to me.
It's an alright game though, shame it seems to be fucking dead.
Advance Wars also has permadeath, for all your units.
That's a cheap and pointless statement.
Kind of like your units.
I'm not really a fan of AW clones. I can still pop AW in my 3DS and enjoy it just fine. If you're going to make your own game try to improve on AW's formula in a meaningful way.
it's an early shot from the chucklefish devs, on twitter
there's also iphone shit with riskylab.com
died like a bitch on arrival
now they're doing some sort of RTS with mech and bears
Post more Sami.
...
First off, it's not the Advance Wars series.
Second, it died. Just like Fire Emblem almost did.
it died a good death unlike Paper Mario
It's also fucking retarded.
So. Much. Exposition.
PrivateHazzard best girl
But you can just keep building units in Wars. That automatically makes it easier.
...
Japan loves jerking itself off.
At least they didn't shit on other countries.
And the emperor chicks are hot
And there's the hot-headed dipshit Commander
How is a beanpole like that able to hold an LMG plus ammo?
>All these people saying Advance Wars
jesus christ how stupid can you be
>tfw AW probably really is dead along with F-Zero and maybe Metroid too
video game logic
what a stupid thing to say, almost like you've never played aw
Maybe Nintendo is putting all those games in an emergency vault, only making new entries if the company is in serious financial trouble
how autistic can you be is a better question
The worst part is that they'll probably ruin them come time to actually use them for dosh.
Is it any better to call it "Wars" or "Nintendo Wars" if not many people played the pre-Advance Wars titles? Those games haven't age that well
Here is some hot CO
a better question still would be why do you feel the need to meme at everything
if it's not Advance Wars, why is the series on the DS still called Advance Wars?
BWitch when?
>F-Zero RTS Dating Sim
Dr. Grit, I'm OLAF
I never really got this. AW is incredibly easy, but it rips casuals apart like nothing and I can't grasp how.
They already kinda did with Metroid.
I bet AW will be resurrected as a mobile game.
At most, I'd accept Falcon Hand. Otherwise, just give me a new fucking F-Zero already.
You know what still getting my pissed until this day?
Fucking grit and colin , my nigger friend use them all the time we played and won every match...
I am just happy that in a battle whit other CO he lose in less of 15 turns
I played so much AW in Jr High. Tank rush with Hawke was my go to strat.
>At most, I'd accept Falcon Hand.
I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. Smash gave the Captain a prime set of moves to work with.
American Marketing.
I really feel for the studio owner he probably wants to make some erotic anime with the quality of mezzo forte but they won't let him
How is it possible to be that fucked in just 9 turns?
Smash gave F-Zero greater visibility period but they don't seem to think making a new game would make them any bank.
>Bike shorts
>On a military uniform.
>Spam Tanks to win.
Meanwhile Fire Emblem has actual strategy.
...
too many games, not enough innovation
AW DS 1 and 2 were too similar to the GBA games because they lazily used the GBA sprites
they should have gone with 3d models by that point for the battles
had you ever played AW?
The DS was shit at 3D. I'd rather good sprites than shitty 3D
...
>I have never played AW
Thanks for pointing that out for us.
>dodge ;)
>but I'd be surprised if that turns out good.
i'm hopeful, but way too early to tell
>they should have gone with 3d models by that point for the battles
Ehh they'd probably end up looking like Infinite Space's battles.
He's not entirely wrong. If you can build things, it's almost impossible to lose against the AI, unless there's an alternate losecon like time or capture limits.
Days of Ruin is the best in the series.
it's not strategy if you have to reset your game 9 times before the RNG stops killing you
This does not work later on in a game. Especially days of Ruin which loved to spam the antitank units.
It had the best girls.
It sold decently. The game that sold like shit, and put the series on its death bed, was Dual Strike. DoR is what happens when funding is reduced and a company starts to lose faith in a series.
At least the series died with dignity.
>in AW you actually have to strategise more than "rock
Wars has an equal amount of rock
