Sup Forums is defending DLCs now

what went so wrong?

Fanboying.

Neo/v/ has existed for a while now.

They defend DLC, shill season passes and support exclusives.

There is nothing wrong with the concept of DLCs, just the execution

Also it is hard to shit on or defend something we know so little about

>Sup Forums is defending it
>tons of threads every day shitting on Nintendo for it
??????????????????????

>hard mode costs money now
>nu/v/ unironically defends this

just what exactly has this board become

A cesspool, like it always has been.

hell, I even checked reddit to laugh at the fanboys defending it there and even they're largely furious about it - sad!

I'm seeing a lot of threads complaining about people defending this, but not once have I seen any threads actually defending it. What the fuck?

dont forget the physical dlcs

>Never seen a thread defending the Zelda DLC
>Seen about 10 threads like OP saying everyone is defending the Zelda DLC
Really alternates the pistachios

>game is 59,99$
>amiibos are 14,99$ each
>season pass is another 20$
>meaning the complete game will cost 155$
>this is somehow considered acceptable

>optional amiibos
>optional season pass

I've spent $900 on Steam games from a few years worth of sales and I'd wager I'll get more play time and value out of $155 of BotW shit

I want a Miniblin that makes cute noises

>now

not bothering to condemn it becaise its not worth paying for, i may pick it up in December when the new dungeon is released.
other than that its just cash filler you wont miss, no need getting upset about something you wont buy, ill just stick to the main game.

How is DLC like The Old Hunters bad? It's exactly like expansions of old
Claiming all DLC is bad is retarded

The old hunters wasn't even a thing when bloodborne came out

>just what exactly has this board become
>just what exactly
>just what
>JUST

does anyone else here have the dream of creating a video game console, banning developers from creating dlc, banning ubisoft, ea and activision from developing games for it and basically saving the video game industry

i cant be the only one

>All with game content cut from the complete game.

Yes, and the consumers are to blame. Thanks to games like FF13-2, Tales of Berseria, FF15 and countless others in the past the consumers have essentially told companies that they are willing to spend $150+ for the "complete gaming experience" including paid DLC and patches for incomplete games sold at launch. Companies will continue business practices like this until the consumers stop buying - and the consumers will not stop because they are perfectly okay with things the way they are right now. Whether this is due to ignorance, stupidity or foolish people with too much time and money on their hands, who knows?

>FF fans shell out an extra $20 for a FFXV season pass no problem.
>all DLC for FF13-2 was almost $60, equaling the amount of the original game.
>complain when Nintendo does the same for Zelda.

Ok.

DID NOTHING WRONG

Sup Forums defends anything Nintendo

It's okay when nintendo does it

they gotta make up for the failure that was the Wii U

>went gold a couple weeks ago
>"here's what we're working on next"
>HELD BACK CONTENT!!! HELD BACK CONTENT!!! HELD BACK CONTENT!!!

amiibos are fine, at least you get something physical, a model to collect

season passes are bullshit though

Expansions were before you time, kiddo

Announcing it 2.5 weeks ahead of launch

The day one bonus chests will either be FUCKING NOTHING or game-breaking.

The second pack is literally nothing and should be shit released for free in a patch (Hard Mode and Map features)

Pack 2 will likely be only a few hours of content and doesn't justify $20, even if it looks good.

Don't the amiibos only give you a bonus chest with just some random items or rupees inside?

Mostly. Rupees are meant to be a more rare currency though, so probably none of them.

I hope the Ganondorf has a cool function like TPHD though.

Okay, I'll bite.

Tell me, what's wrong with creating additional content for the game after the release? Not day 1 DLC, just DLC created later on.

user, some of the amiibos literally only restore hearts or give you ammo or some shit. That's not cut fucking content, it's paying for an advantage. I highly doubt many people are going to use them anyway.

bullshit excuse to juice more money out of the consumer.

Maybe I haven't been spending as much time on Sup Forums, but ever since I first heard the news I've only seen Sup Forums shit on Nintendo for it.

Trump, get off of Sup Forums

Then what is making any kind of fucking product?

What excuse? Creating additional optional things for the game is an excuse?

You console wars kids make people defend shit out of spite. If you console wars kids like sjws I'd probably defend them too. Insufferable subhumans.

>supporting nu-tendo unironically

This place is literally nintendogaf.

>it's not ok when Nintendo does

Also Nintendo started DLC back with NSMB2. If you're making a big deal about this marking "the end" for Nintendo you're either a newfag or just baiting but you should be ignored in both cases.

Not all dlc is bad or made equal.

My beef with this season pass is that it's horribly vague. What exactly does the hard mode entail? Does the new story use the entire world or just the new dungeon? How big is the new dungeon?

Anyone that blindly buys this is a fool

>optional
Making additional content will always create a sense of emptiness with the base game experience. You will never get the "complete" full experience of the game when you have DLC being released postgame. Dev's know this, it's the primary reason dlc works

>Sup Forums
>neo/v/
>nu/v/

it's nintendogaf

Who fucking cares?!

>spend $20 less in the online service
>use it to acquire EVEN MORE CONTENT for a fucking Zelda game
You'd have to be insane to think this isn't great.

In BotW case, I guess the damage is minimal. We're already getting (hopefully) a full package. The actual DLC won't be day one. Neither of them. And to be quite honest, the Summer dungeon may be something like Gerudo's Training Ground from OoT, an extra dungeon nobody cared about and won't hurt the full experience if you just ignore it.

The Holiday one, though, seems to be the most interesting one. Do you remember Harley Quinn's Revenge? Far Cry Blood Dragon? These were separate new Story Modes for said games, pretty short ones but stuff that was worth it back in the day. Also, didn't hurt the main game as well. That's what I hope it happens with BotW "new original story" DLC.

>cut content
When will this meme end? I've never heard of a dev cutting content and then just selling it separately as DLC.

It's okay when Nintendo does it. That's all there is to it. The Big N could announce they were making an Anita Sarkesian simulator and /v would have a new waifu.

Not all DLC is inherently bad. People have been saying this for ages now, it's not a new fucking thing to say.

Nobody disagrees that taking a fighting game that's complete but not shipped out yet, then locking several characters behind keys you need to pay for, is a shitty and scummy practice.

But there's a severe difference between that and planning on having DLC in the future, or brainstorming shit up in the period between where you've sent the completed game off for printing onto discs, and actual retail time.

>defending
>nonstop complaining ever since the announcement

What did faggot mean by this?

DLC as a practice has never been bad as long as it

1. Isn't content cut from the game purposefully during development just to sell it as DLC

2. What's being sold is being done so at a price that feels like you are getting your money worth, or

3. What's being sold is so insignificant to the original experience that not buying it isn't a detriment to the game.

Nintendo should have just held off on announcing it and actually tell us what a Hard Mode entails and why it's being sold to us. Since a value change isn't hard. The only time a 'harder mode' has been sold to us was pretty much OoT's Master Quest. If this "hard mode" is a similar change to Master Quest, or perhaps an increase in enemy AI, or maybe even a randomizer for loot, then it justifies extra development and a price tag.

Don't buy it if you don't want it, just like Hyrule Warriors, once the 'season' is up, they will sell it all individually. You should be able to pick up the extra dungeon and story for 10 bucks or whatever later.

Fuck off shill.

It's only WRONG when nintendo does it*

Stop being extremely autistic and/or a tool. I've only bought DLC when:
1. It's not cut content.
2. It's good and substantial content.
So if that new story mode is cool enough, I'll get it, and if it doesn't I just won't.

If it's the Cave of Trials, we're probably looking at that pit from TP, where each level has different and more challenging combat encounters and the point is to reach the bottom. As for Hard Mode, the fact that it's being relegated to DLC makes me wonder how comprehensive it's going to be. I want to believe they're not just going to lock taking extra damage behind a paywall.

The second DLC strikes me very much as a "new small region" thing though. A new story, a new dungeon, and new challenges? Sounds like being able to find someone with a boat at the edge of the world and being sailed off to a new but small island with shrines, dungeon, and a story revolving around said dungeon.

Honestly I kind of expect the first DLC to be priced at 6-8 dollars once the expansion pass ends, while the second is priced at 13-17

Found the Nintenshill. One Rupee has been deposited to your account. Now kill yourself..

I appreciate your mindless usage of memes.

It's funny cause Rupees are an actual IRL currency too.

Why wont they tell us what these do in game?

>The second DLC strikes me very much as a "new small region" thing though.

I'm betting that it will be completely separate from the main game in every way, not just something you can do at any time, but as it's own little side quest told from another characters perspective.

We know that Zelda is active in the world before you and that she's apparently exploring ruins. Having a chance to play as Zelda and see what happened with her before you wake up would be pretty cool, since we see that she has the Shiekah Slate in the past, so how did it go from being in her possession to being in the Shrine of Ressurection?

Because Nintendo likes some element of surprise and also knows that as soon as people find out, they will rush to buy it as soon as they are in stock.

I bet the Bokoblin one will spawn a Bokoblin chest with a random weapon in it and the Guardian one will spawn a mini Guardian companion like the Wolf Link one spawns Wolf Link.

I haven't even seen any shitposting "defending" it. I've only seen shitposting saying everyone thinks it's okay when nintendo does it but then everyone is shitting on it.

It's $20. Buy it or don't and move on with your life.

>mini guardian

I bet it's adorable!

Sup Forums is a meme board, not actually dedicated to discussing video games
only smaller boards actually stay on topic

>since we see that she has the Shiekah Slate in the past

Stop peddling that theory as fact. The Shiekah Slate description says that Link feels a familiarity with it upon picking it up which implies he had it in the past as well. There are scenes in the presumably present where Link doesn't have the Slate, such as when he sees Reebal on the tower. We can assume that's the present because Reebal is your guide during the divine bird dungeon.

So we don't know if every scene where Zelda has the slate and Link doesn't is necessarily in the past. This is a case of over analyzation gone too far.

That's why there's so many threads shitting on it, right?

Fucking NintendoGAF.

The only people defending this are youtubers who depend on Nintendo's products to be popular in order to make a living. And even then, the comments sections for those videos tend to call them out on BS.

No one likes this. No one.

In the worlds of the great Bill Trinen:

>I like video games. I like movies. I like sports. I don't like knitting. But I'm not mad that knitting exists.

Nintendo are finished. There's a special place in hell reserved for DLC mongers. Fuck Nintendo.

So you haven't played any game in the past 10 years?

>implying every game has DLC
>implying every developer utilizes DLC
Plenty of great, complete games out there user.

>Getting this butthurt that companies want to make things and sell for a profit

Did you fags think that they were done after Mario kart and smash bros? Oh no no no that was just the foreplay to get you into the bed, now the red raw dicking can really get started

Fuck Sup Forums. I hate all of you autistic faggots. I don't care about the dlc for this game at all. I'm not upset that they made dlc, I just won't buy it. I'm not going to cancel my switch and Zelda preorder just because they added some content to the game. I'm going to buy my switch, play the main story in Zelda, beat it and move on to another game after that.

Everyone screeching "NINTENDO SHILL" "JEWTENDO STRIKES AGAIN" "ITS OKAY WHEN NINTENDO DOES IT" needs to relax. You don't have to buy the DLC and it is shit anyway. I'm not gonna buy it and neither should you if you're going to cry that much.

Zelda is your guide on the Plateau, that doesn't mean she's actually there.

>complete games
So, like Breath of the Wild.

There is literally nothing wrong with DLC if it's handled properly.

More content for good games is a good thing.

>red raw dicking

They're charging $20 for content that you didn't even know about until a few days ago. In a climate where games are still a cheap $60. Or $48 if you buy through Best Buy or Amazon.

Gamers are entitled babies who want two things,

1.) Everything is free
2.) Give us something to rage about too

This. We live in a time when everyone fucking does it. It doesn't matter anymore.

ITT: paid shills

Destiny

This.

It's content made after the game has gone gold. There is nothing wrong with it. If what you get is a good amount for what you pay then it's good DLC; simple as that.

Let's play fill in the blanks.

It's ____ when ________ ____ __.

It's ok if Nintendo does it.

bad
it
is
Nintendo

It's okay when Nintendo does it.

This.
They should start making games more expensive!

It's okay when anyone does it.

DLC is optional content. Buy it or don't. This is universal to all companies who offer it.

>They should start making games more expensive!
This, I honestly think Nintendo should charge $100 per game. Every game should come with an Season Pass and subscription based online features as well as a plethora of exclusive amiibos. Nintendo are an awesome company, so let's keep supporting them for a better tomorrow.

>tfw

Old enough to remember saving up $70 (in 1998 money) worth of allowance to buy Ocarina of Time.

That's $105 in 2017 money for a game with probably half as much content as BotW will have a launch.

And it was worth it.

I'm okay spending money on things I like. Weird that a forum ostensibly full of video game fans has a mental breakdown over it.

Most people around here are way too dumb/young to even understand inflation.

I mean a season pass would be okay if it didn't sound like Nintendo is giving us fuckall for content out of it. Every single bit of what they say is going to be a part of it is vague as fuck, and the fact that you can't buy the two updates separately (since the second seems to be the only one of some actual value) is shitty

>forum

Your age really is showing old man. Go back to your retirement home.

Games on the whole also sell more copies than they used to though, so a straight inflation comparison isn't the whole story

Yeah. They just understand,

>b-b-but! Mass Effect 3 was just $1 on humblebundle!!11

Like clockwork

>That's $105 in 2017 money
OK well I NEVER payed remotely that much for any Zelda game so I'm no about to start.

>Sup Forums

Nope, just nintendrones being the pieces of shit they have always been. People have been saying for ages that this bunch is by far the worst this place has ever seen. Glad people are finally waking up to their hipocrisy despite their incessant attempts to control the narrative.
