>do I still have to queue every single basic attack of my team members?
Pretty sure there's autoattack?
On vanilla autoattack was kind of sketchy and you couldn't set up tactics a la Dragon Age so you had to use skills and spells on cooldown manually
They implemented companion A.I., yes.
>and you couldn't set up tactics a la Dragon Age so you had to use skills and spells on cooldown manually
That's how it should be imo. Apparently 2.0 introduced a party AI system though.
>That's how it should be imo
I'd agree if combat design in general wasn't so fucking shit and boring.

Fixin' for a new playthrough
What sort of toon should I build?
Does anyone remember those ones that came on old PCs preloaded? Fate was the shit back in 2007. Not the shitty sequels, either, like the originals with the shitty framerate and the endgame Green Bay Packers Cheese Head helmet.
I finished Tyranny this morning. Kinda underwhelming honestly.
Like why the fuck does that game railroad you so hard into becoming the mighty chosen one and piss of Kyros instead of giving you a loyalist option? I didn't ask for any of this shit.
Yep. Tyranny is fucking trash.
>Try to roleplay as someone loyal to Kyros
>Forced to enter in bitch-fights between two sides
>Forced to rebel against Kyros
>Forced to become a Mary Sue
Probably to set things up for DLC
I'd have probably behaved much differently if I knew I'd be the one tasked with fixing the world eventually.
It really messed with my running internal monologue; having to justify uncharacteristic decisions on my character's part to fit story changes.
In the games defense, Kyros probably wouldn't allow someone who could command powers that rival her own in scale.
Are there any rpg around with crafting and battle mechanics that's not complete garbage?
The Tyranny team moved on to Pillars of Eternity 2 or Tim Cain's game, there will be no DLC.
>there will be no DLC
I'd assume they're going for Tyranny 2 after Pillars 2, although I have no idea how Tyranny performed for them.
I hope they never touch on Tyranny again. First game was awful. Pillars of Eternity 2 looks great and I'm curious about whatever Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky are secretly working on.
>Has this game been patched
It's been patched so much it got annoying, because at every turn the balance man decided to nerf another fun strategy. As a whole the game is a lot better now than it was at release so it was worth it, but having to change your build because your favorite ability or spell got nerfed in a fucking singleplayer game was so stupid.
But yeah you can set basic AI for companions now so you don't have to manually assign every action. Put it on easy mode, set the NPC stance to aggressive and enable per-rest abilities and the fights basically win themselves.
Put everything in smell and shoe size.
Kill all enemies with your pungent toe cheese.
Eh, it was far from perfect but it wasn't completely awful. I liked the setting of Tyranny a lot better than the setting of PoE, so I wouldn't mind if they revisited it.
Soul Magic Colonialism >>> Shitty Bronze Age, IMO
Every critic regarding it's relative cheapness production wise or cliff hanger story I justified because of DLC content.
If it didn't sell as much as pillars, that's fine because it was a smaller, cheaper game and would be easy to build on with additional content, right?
If it ended by setting up an entire campaign for you to follow, that's fine, my character will finish the story in DLC that I'll pirate.
I'm hoping it was simple a commercial failure and that DLC was planned rather than learning that they handicapped a story advertised on the submission of a world with an outwardly absolute ruler.
Make sure to get the mod that removes all the censorship.
t. someone who has no idea about anything poe related other than seeing a shitpost thread about it once or twice
Which tier does that come with?
Tyranny gets shit on here but I enjoyed the world building, combat, art style, and story way more. I hate it when games boil down to just killing the "big bad" and Tyranny avoided that (for now).
>Free mod that removes SJW censorship.
>Advising somebody to get it is a bad thing.
CRPGs really have got overrun with SJWs.
28 bucks or more comes with one novella that hasn't been released yet, 38 bucks comes with all the novellas from that post, 50 bucks comes with all the novellas from that post and the comics.
It honestly doesn't surprise me.
Tyranny wasn't some kind of project they were incredibly invested in.
It was done for Paradox. They put their B-team and new employees on it. And apparently very few of them were moved to Pillars 2 which is a good thing.
You're making shit up. There's no mod to get rid of SJW censorship because there's no SJW censorship to begin with.
>SJW censorship
Nigga the only reason they removed that was because the backer that payed for it asked them to so the entire shitshow could be over.
And then they put another poem that shits on the people that complained about the first one
What are you talking about. It's right here
I can agree with this. I liked that instead of going full medieval, Pillars went for a mid to early 1400's kind of style
>Note: For people claiming the limerick removal wasn't censorship. Where does it end?
Do you know if these shits are watermarked? I don't trust InXile.
Hope they improve pistols and other guns, though. Heard that blunderbusses were only good for an initial alpha strike and that the other guns weren't so great for long encounters.
Soul magic isn't really functionally different from regular fantasy magic. At least in Tyranny Edicts are fundamentally different from regular magic, even if it's just a much larger scale. If they make a sequel about the MC's war against Kyros, there's a lot of potential for neat shit with that.
The colonialism angle wasn't really present in PoE. I have high hopes for Deadfire though since not only it goes into the whole colonialism/age of sail/pirates of the Caribbean thing a lot more, but it also looks a lot more interesting in general than the generic pigshit peasant land that PoE did.
Yeah the long reload as well as the awkward way that speed bonuses worked in PoE meant that guns are mostly only good for firing a shot at the start of combat and then switching to something else. Pure gun characters were really gimped in endgame because everyone gets cool stacking speed bonuses like the Durgan Steel upgrade, but those barely affect guns because the actual attack time is so insignificant compared to the reload time.
I've tried asking Sawyer some questions about the way attack speed will be handled in Deadfire because IMO it was stupid and broken in PoE (not just for guns), but he hasn't given any reply.
I can't guarantee you they're not watermarked, but I think that would be extremely doubtful. We have all these links and no one has gotten in trouble, as far as I know. Your PDF should say Book06 or something like that.
>muh infinity engine D&D nostalgiabait trash
No thanks. I'll wait for Sawyer's historical turn based game.
A game where you fight a Mary Sue villain with edicts sounds so freaking boring. They ruined all the interesting stuff that the setting had when they forced you to turn against Kyros.
Can we please stop using the term Mary Sue? It's obvious nobody on Sup Forums actually knows what it means and only uses it for "things I don't like".
A lot like cuck, or autism.
The monsters in white march don't fuck around
how do I build a good character in this game
I want to replay it but I kinda just bullshit my way through it the first time
That's part of why WM is better than the base game.
It gets kind of annoying though, in that you need to have a priest with you at all times. Not as much for the healing but to cast defensive buffs against stun, prone, etc. or else you'll just get fucked up.
playing tyranny at the moment. I have not gotten so far that i can really say that much about the story but i like the setting but it is kind of annoying how the game so far constantly forces me to make a bunch of binary choices.
The combat is alright but i am not sold on the idea that all abilities are cooldown based. Having to jump between characters to activite stuff is kind of odd.
The binary choices are gonna continue and they're gonna force you into a path out of 4 which you will follow for the rest of the very short game, they all lead to the same ending, though.
>guys check out our new companion relationship system
>guys check out these companions that wont use it
okay great
EIGHT
COMPANION
WHEN?
They listened to the quantity over quality fags who whined about dropping their pledge if PoE2 had less companions than PoE1.
is that just a meme or did faggots actually say that?
how retarded can people be?
It still has less companions than the first game. Sidekicks don't count. And I'd rather have a single good well developed eight companion than 4 meaningless ones.
>The combat is alright but i am not sold on the idea that all abilities are cooldown based.
A bunch of abilities are per-encounter or per-rest.
>Having to jump between characters to activite stuff is kind of odd.
What.
People did actually say that almost constantly on Sup Forums, but I'm pretty sure they were shitposters who wouldn't have pledged in the first place.
Nyah!
Fine, here you go. At this point I'm far from happy with InXile's fuckery anyway.
www47.zippyshare.com
Most abilities that i have seen so far seems to be cooldown based. And yes it is odd to have to cycle between characters to activate abilities that are always needed over and over again. For a melee character when would you not want to activate 1.5x melee attack for example? It is an unnecessary busywork in my opinion.
>It gets kind of annoying though, in that you need to have a priest with you at all times
Doesn't help when once again there are monsters every five steps, I thought they improved this shit
I'm not sure what abilities you mean. Like spell buffs? I mean every buff you cast is an action you have to actively take during combat that could instead be spent on an attack. If they were all passive it would fuck with the action economy.
That's basic balancing.
I mostly agree with this
I know Tyranny has its flaws but it is highly enjoyable in a lot of areas as well. It's setting is great, the gameplay is very solid and there are some beautiful visuals especially with the higher level spells.
You're the fucking man. God bless you.
Not him, but thank you!
Weirdo
You're thinking of PoE, Tyranny is nearly all cooldown based except for a companion and artifact abilities that are per rest or per encounter
What I respect about Tyranny is that it's an improvement or at least a step in the right direction mechanics wise and that they can use what they learned for Pillars 2.
A shame that the existence of Tyranny 2 depends only if Paradox was pleased with the first one.
How about attack spells. All my attack spells do significantly more damage than my default attack. Since the cooldown is so fast why would i ever want to now use my attack abilities?
IIRC companions already use their spells automatically.
I honestly hope they remove vancian casting. I know people have some problems with the Tyranny system but it's far better than every spell from some classes being gated by rests
Can't play this piece of shit game without it crashing.
They've already confirmed that in PoE2 all spells are per encounter, not per rest.
No I'm thinking of Tyranny. I'm aware it's mostly companion abilities but there are a ton of those. Item abilities not even included.
>since the cooldown is so fast
>33s
In my experience none of the Tyranny abilities had actually fast cooldowns. You can have a ton of attack skills in your quick bar but then they still all do different extra effects that you'd want to decide between depending on the situation so autocasting randomly would be stupid.
Like not saying Tyranny combat is deep and tactical but you're advocating for terrible streamlining out of sheer convenience.
Unfortunately, that's exactly what they're doing.
If you're playing a mage then you should just be casting non stop instead of attacking
Protip:unequip any staff/weapon in your hand so your recovery times are even shorter
>I honestly hope they remove vancian casting
That's already confirmed.
Spells are no longer per day, you can cast them as often as you want.
Spells and all abilities scale with your level, and now you have a per rest resource, Empowerment, that makes your spell 3 levels higher.
Spells are also more powerful, have a longer casting time and can be interrupted but you can change your target or the AoE zone while casting.
>In my experience none of the Tyranny abilities had actually fast cooldowns.
You can brind the cooldown of spells down a lot actually, and since you can have a bunch of different spells you can just rotate through them.
>In my experience none of the Tyranny abilities had actually fast cooldowns.
Did you play as a mage? Most basic spells are less than 10 seconds early on, with high quickness, light armor, and a cdr sigil even the craziest spells are pretty fast to recover and you have so many spell slots you never need to stop casting
Fair enough but my point about autocasting random spells still stands.
Tyranny was awful. It was just spamming skills whenever they came out of cooldown. I'm afraid Pillars of Eternity 2 will fall in the same pit-trap.
PoE2 won't use Tyranny's cooldown system.
Thank fuck
I'm gonna ask for recommendations here since I'm pretty new to the genre.
The first isometric RPG I finished was Shadowrun Dragonfall. Currently playing Shadowrun Hong Kong and I'm about to finish it.
I liked both, mostly because I like the cyberpunk setting but I wish for something more complex. The combat system feels pretty good for me.
I was leaning towards buying UnderRail.
If I get any recommendation, I rather modern/futuristic setting over fantasy, also I have no problem with reading a lot but if I like the game and I intend multiple runs with different classes, having to go through walls of text on my second run would be tedious (see SR).
Nyah yourself.
Underrail is definitely worth a try.
You could try Div:OS (or the sequel that's coming out soonish) as well.
Underrail is way more of a dungeon crawler than the Shadowrun games. It's pretty great, though, I recommend it.
The Shadowrun games are pretty great but theres precious little else of the sort in the cyberpunk setting
Underrail is pretty crazy mechanically, especially with its exp system, took a good look at it before you decide to dive in
Outside Cyberpunk you might want to try Divinity: OS, its fantasy but it has the same turnbased tactical feel you get in Shadowrun
Yeah, Underrail is a good choice if you are primarily looking for a game with good systems, especially stealth, combat and leveling. It's nowhere near as story-heavy as the Shadowrun games though, so you should keep this in mind going in. Damn fine game that one is, though.
Playing through Pillars of Eternity for the first time as a Druid and I just found the grieving mother
Now I'm playing on easy because the real time w/ pause is new for me but currently I have Eder tanking, Pallegina and my druid off tanking, and the rest all in the back using magic or ranged weapons ( durance I think is using his staff with reach)
But my question is this. I found the druid companion, but I feel like having two druids is counter productive. Am I wrong in this assumption? Does class diversity matter more than roles? (tank, CC, dps, healing)
My other question is, I am level 7 now so I have 4 spells per rest on my lower tier ones. How frivolous should I be with using them?
It won't really matter on easy since you can just autoattack everything to death.
Well sure, but I'm planning to bump this up to normal or hard when PoE 2 rolls around since I'll understand the mechanics more (I think)
>and that they can use what they learned for Pillars 2.
Now I feel like an idiot because I hadn't even thought of this. I just figured it was a B effort to pad out the lull between big projects, but of course they must have used it as a testing ground for Deadfire.
>But my question is this. I found the druid companion, but I feel like having two druids is counter productive. Am I wrong in this assumption? Does class diversity matter more than roles? (tank, CC, dps, healing)
The only class you really need (at least for hard fights) is Priest. If you want to run with 5 Fighters and a Priest for example, that's fine. Since you're on easy, it's even less of an issue.
For Druids, keep in mind that although beast shape is great for melee fighting early on, it tends to fall off hard in midgame and especially lategame. Again, this matters a lot less since you're on easy, but it helps to keep in mind that a Druid's strongest asset is his spellcasting. Druids have some of the best AoE spells in the game, and having two guys to cast them definitely doesn't hurt.
I have really been enjoying Dragons Dogma and it's pawn system if that counts as a true rpg. Anyone else recommend console rpgs similar that aren't DA:O?
If that's the case then, you can always use your per rest spells when you have to (when you think that you can't pull off the fight without casting anything, for example a fuckbillion of shades). Just remember to stock up on camping supplies though.
Oh god yeah. I dropped beast shape hard when unlocked and saw what Tier 3 spells had in store for me. Now I'm just casting spells that cause enemies to go prone.
Aye aye. Havent really used per rest spells, but I have done fights, ran back to an inn, and rested there. There's no time limit I hope lmao
Nyock it off, both of you.
There isn't a time limit, no. I was at Day 500 when I ended the game.
>tfw PoE2 is going to have more CYOA goodness
Aww yiss, consider me hyped.

Arx Fatalis is on xbox... but you're better off playing that on PC with the Arx Libertatis mod.
Loved how it looked in the city video. Apparently that kind of interaction is gonna appear as random encounters while you travel the city, too. Hope they have tons of it.
