Deus Ex Mankind Divided

What the fuck went wrong bros?

the main thing was just that the main story wasn't as good and the settings weren't as interesting. a lot of the characters weren't very interesting.

desu some of the sidequests were a lot more interesting, like the one where you're investigating that mruder

Gameplay-wise it was better than HR

Story-wise it was worse than invisible war, on-top of the fact that its cut in pieces for DLC

also, setting up for a trilogy was a mistake, especially if they weren't already invested in making all three games regardless of numbers. a self-contained story has a lot more impact and a lot more to talk about. we'd probably still be talking about the game if it actually had an ending.

Plan to take out a network of villains
Bump into a polite mini-boss
He is the final boss

The side quests in general were great because of the way one would frequently segue into another, but yeah, they more or less refused to advance the plot in any way whatsoever. Also, as a /k/ crossposter, the guns sounded weak, with the exception of the assault rifle, which sounded like Satan if he ripped ass after eating $500 worth the taco bell

Load times.

satan's got good taste in fast food

>its cut in pieces for DLC

That's not true. The story of the game is complete in itself, there is no "ending DLC".

it didn't have anything interesting to say

i mean dxhr didn't have anything particularly interesting to say either, but at least it had a basic idea and followed through on it

I think it was also too easy. I played stealth/nonlethal and there were only very few parts that were actually challenging. (Golem/GARM)

i remember the bank being an interesting area as stealth/nonlethal, idr what the name of it was called
being able to talk your way through a lot of bosses was a great mechanic
but you're right, other than that the game was too easy

I'm not your bro, pal.

Three things went wrong:
>the game was too good
>Sup Forums got mad there was an in-game cash shop that Square shoved in for no reason, started bombarding its metacritic for no reason
>the game had no traits that were immediately distinguishable from its predecessor, so nobody bought it

Rest in fucking peace.
Don't reboot the series again, my heart couldn't take this a second time.

This. The game felt cut in half, also of course was terribly optimized with incredibly long load times.

It didn't pick off from where HR ended.
No Pritchard, no Flygirl, no Sarif (no, I don't count short cameos).

The sequel could've been so much more.

>set up sequel bait ending
>"lol fuck you we arent making more deus ex games for now!"

well then

>>the game was too good
>started bombarding its metacritic for no reason
I don't know how ignorant you are about these practices but if you don't speak out against this kind of bullshit immediately it'll only get worse with time, unless you're one of those tools who enjoys spending money on microtransactions.

Palisade bank. It was fun to break in, but it wasn't particularly difficult IMO.

there's like 15 posts before yours that explain what people had issues with and why it didn't work for them

worth it? 70% off

hard to say
if you keep your expectations low and mostly care about having a fun game, you'll probably enjoy it.

If you liked Human Revolution, you'll like this one as well.

Executive meddling from Square Enix.

You can't really release something that feels like an expansion pack to a game that came out 5 years earlier, and expect it to do very well

I don't think that user was talking about ending DLC, but the fact that Desperate measures and sysrift could both be part of the main storyline easily.

Fingers crossed the last DLC is more ML like.

>drop you into a story full of strangers
>expects you to care about them
>in a place you don't care about
>with villains you're not sure why you hate
>with no build up to the story
>anti-aug response doesn't make sense unless augs are transhuman supremacists
>then cut game in half

hmmmm

Turn off radar and quest markers and it's pretty great desu

Sadly you can't play the ironman mode without having beaten the game already but doing that on my first playthrough after my brother unlocked it made the game insanely tense
